Strength:

The car looks great, not like some souped up import racer (IS300).
The handling is fantastic, HID lamps are great, more interior room than it's competitors. Smooth & adequate acceleration... stock 10 speaker system is good already, the Harmon Kardon upgrade must be over-whelming

Weakness:

a bit pricy, 17 inch wheels get a lot of brake dust quickly, but when those wheels are clean, they look awesome!!!

The car is great! Smooth & powerful... practically the same performance as the previous year's 328i... the steptronic tranny in silky smooth..

No complaints on this car whatsoever!!!!!

IS300: more refined than the lexus, competes nicely with a smaller engine... the 330 will blow it away; A4: more space than the A4

Strength:

-Excellent driving experience
-Smooth and comfortable seats
-Noise level to near non-existence
-Near perfect ergonomics ("near" is the key word)
-Excellent turns
-Powerful engine (170hp V-6)
-Headlights that really works
-Great sterio system
-Handsome dashboard
-Great service from great people
-Great Performance (Not just on the speed)

Weakness:

-Bad ergonomics on the cup holders and the wisers
-Bad maintainence
-Over priced
-Hard to get spare parts
-Underestimated room space
-Gas burned quickly (low gas milage)
-Constanly breaking little parts
-Doesn't it kinda look like a volkswagon?
-The rims tend to get dirty very quick
-So does the interior
-Package options that are just too one sided
-Parts worn out prematurely
-Hard to upgrade (unflexable)
-The ultimate driving machine? or just the engine?

This is the second time I placed an opinon on this site. My last comment consisted of complements to great lengths. This time is a little different. After using the vehicle for some time, I've noticed that my complaints and dissappointment grew. Starting with the bottles of coke popping out of the cup holders to the sun wipsers that touch my head when pulled to the side. And the wisers don't cover the sun sometimes. My window broke with no warning. It doesn't move now. The trunk makes a funny squeaking sound everytime it opens. The remote key entry system doesn't unlock the doors sometimes nor does it always work with opening the windows. The switch for the wipers goes up and activates the wipers everytime I start the ignition. The door does not unlock when I turn the ignition off like Toyotas and Cadillacs do. What if you have a accident and your locked inside? You can't even reach the locks so it's impossible to unlock it manualy. The list continues and is growing. $36,000...is that really a good price for a car such as this? Even the prices for the extra accesories, that I got, cost too much.

Model Reviewed: ' BMW 325 ic w/ s package

Strength:

It is bright red with a black top....you get the looks. It has "racing dynamics" on it(lowered, hot chip, sport exaust, etc) Corner's very nice, quite fast. Has 17' rim's. Good gas mileage if your nice(28), but if you've got your foot into it(12-19)it sucks the gas

Weakness:

Automatic, wish it was a stick....ride is ruff(because of shocks and low profile rims)

It is a really fun car in the summer you can really get the girls, or the guy's in my sister's case. People say that BMW's aren't very good in the snow and ice but the 318i did quite well considering it was rear wheel drive. I have only had the 325 out in the winter once just to see how it did...with TOYO proxes and it sit's very low it did very good. I think that I liked the 318i better because the gas mileage and the 325 was just a toy. But if you have the money to maintain one then I recmend the 325is. But if your a beginner driver and have to pay for gas, insurance, etc then get a 318i.

Strength:

Appearance, handling, fully auto soft top, decent back seats for a two door.

Weakness:

Acceleration a bit slow, but engine is still very refined.

This is a very pricey car for 185 hp, but I still recommend paying a few grand more for the 330 convertible (would be almost 50K). However, with the top town on PCH, you are the king of the road and feel like a million bucks. If you are trying to cut costs, don't get the xenon lights or the cd changer (you can install one yourself much cheaper). Definitely get the heated seats, and the premium package for the auto top (if getting the 325). The sport package low profile wheels look great. I've heard that I'll have to replace them after 15K miles which is a bummer.

Strength:

Overall a great car. Great on the road.

Weakness:

There is ONE thing. The radio doesn't work right. (I got the upgraded one.) It does not pull in signals, loses one channel on occaision, and does not sound as good as my old retrofit radio. I took it back to the dealer, and they swear they tested it and found nothing wrong. Since I am neither stupid or hard of hearing, and have hear others complain about this, I don't think it is just me. BMW SHOULD REPLACE EVERY ONE OF THESE RADIOS. SHAME ON THEM FOR PUTTING THEM IN, AND NOT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM WHEN DISCOVERED. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP CAR, AND SHOULD HAVE A RADIO THAT MERITS IT.

Great car. Bad radio.

Model Reviewed: BMW 325is

Strength:

Best described as a refined Camero or Mustang. Handles great under high speeds and radical situation. Feel high and mighty driving the BMW name. The only car I ever went 145mph in. I tried it in a Ford Taurus once and it felt like it was going to fly off the road at 120mph.

Weakness:

Slower acceleration than expected. Car gives you a false sense that it is not capable, until you force yourself to push the limits. If you took the name plate off, the car wouldn't feel special in everyday driving. Car had 80,000 miles when bought and still had to pay 20K. Ran great but little problems like tail light malfunctions and high cost of parts and labor for routine things made me worry. Also, grown men complained it was cramped in the back. Not built for big American butts (in the back seats), especially if you try to fit three of them. Weak radio...helped a little when I replaced it with an Alpine CD player/radio.

The best experience is the prestige of driving a BMW. Get the extras like sports suspension and extra large wheels. The car looked good. My favorite BMW is the 1995 325is with extra large wheels. Its not the fastest and it sure isn't the most luxurious, but it makes you feel cool when you drive up to a night club. hahaha Its a chick magnet!!!

I used to have a 1984 V6 Camero (new). Camero is a nice car for about 4 years then it falls apart no matter how low the miles are. BMW makes a good car, but its not good if its expensive. I own a Honda Civic now. No power and its no luxury driving far distances on the freeways, but it cost a lot less and a lot more reliable. Pound per Pound...Civic!!!! haha Just can't get no chicks :-(

Sporty looks, and driving.

Weakness:

To many :
Expensive, bmw is loosing there quality standards.
Lots of little problems with gear knob, diff, electric windows etc.
Motor plan extremely expensive and really not worth the money, on the other hand MB seems to have an excellent motor plan.
To many extras can be added on, which should be standard. On board computer seems ancient when compared to the new C class.

An ok vehicle, however I think the the perception of BMW is abt to change with all the choices out there? It seems that merc, volvo and lexus are all going in the right direction. Its nice to have so much more choices.

Seems that the new C Class or Volvo maybe a better buy.

Strength:

* phenomanal handling, while having a smooth ride. NO ONE ELSE has this figured out!
* car likes to be driven hard, full throttle, hard braking over and over again, sliding through turns, no big deal.
* awesome acceleration and braking.
* very confortable, good seats, good climate control, sunroof is quiet even if open at high speeds, etc
* gets good mileage despite high performance
* very nice clutch and shifter
* excellent safety
* designed to go 200,000+ miles

Weakness:

* more wind noise and rattles than i'd expect
* a few electrical glitches
* not-so-great ice and snow traction

I would reccomend this car to anyone who wants to "enjoy the drive" and wants to connect with their vehicle a bit. While the car is reliable, you will have to shell out money for maintenence and for repair eventually. But if you like it as much as i do, it's ok, because you can have to 10 10-15 years in which time you might buy several japanese or domestics.

Similar Products Used:

* saab 900 -- current other car the bmw is smoother, quieter, handles better, and is faster. The saab has mor space, luxury, and was cheaper
* saturn sl2. I traded this fir the BMW. The saturn was cheaper to buy, service, fuel, and insure. The BMW is better in every other way. ;) You get what you pay for.

Weakness:

Rattling noises
Cramped back seats

I purchased the car three three months ago and it drives great. However, I'm very dissapointed by the number of times i have to take the car in for services to fix rattling noises, stuck window, and transmission problems. Perhaps, I got a lemon, but how come there so many BMW lemons out there. For the price we're paying, why can't BMW make cars as reliable as Toyota and Honda? Though the car is nice, I certaintly wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you have the time, patience and monety to be visiting the service department every month. I have better things to spend my time on.
