Strength:

Incredible steering response. Wonderful, firm seats that are perfect for a person with a bad back. Powerful engine. Extremely smooth autoshift transmission. Great handling.

Weakness:

Roofline a little low with sunroof for 6-footers.

Highly recommend if you like to have fun while driving. Truly the "ultimate driving machine"...no kidding! The best steering response BY FAR of any car in its class. Incredibly smooth (autoshift) transmission. Powerful and smooth 6-cylider engine. Great handling and a nice ride too. Mercedes, Audi and the Japanese cannot compare in driveability. Incredibly comfortable and supportive seats.

Each time I am in the market for a new car, I give the competition a thorough test drive. But, over the last six years, BMW has won my affections in a landslide each time.

Pretty good value at mid-$30,000-range, but perhaps a bit overpriced (the Japansese provide more useful features for less money, albeit without the perfomance).

A must buy if you love to drive. If you prefer features to driving, buy and Acura or Lexus, but if you want the "Ultimate Driving Machine," look no further than the 3-series BMW.

Audi A4. Audio does not compare favorably as far as steering and handling is concerned. However, the A4 is a great car too.

Strength:

Styling, handling, brakes, 5 sp stick, fit, finish, engineering. Truly a great value for the $. You will not find a better car at that price.

Weakness:

Brake dust but I can't stand to see it dirty.

Paid $31900, The car is just gorgeous, thought about the 328Ci but could not justify the extra $6k. The 330Ci would be nice too but at least $8k more. The best handling car I have ever had. Did have a clutch problem early on but dealer replaced entire clutch. Have the sport/premium pkg and it is a must. My car is white with tan interior leatherette - don't buy the leather as the leatherette fools everybody. Have to clean wheels all the time for brake dust. Radar detector a must - car quickly gets to 80+ and I told dealer speedometer was off, they checked it and it was fine, incredibly smooth at high speed. No tickets....yet..... be careful.

Strength:

Power when needed
Drives like a dream; think I am in a glider at 40mph or 100mph
Hugs the corners like glue

Weakness:

need another clock
everything else is perfect except the brake dust

I finaly broke through and bought a 323i after three Accords. I feel like I have died and gone to heaven. Absolutely the best car I have ever driven. Has Black exterior, black leather, sports and premium package. Went for the whole load and glad I did. Can't ay enough about the performance and driving. Now on trips I drive the whole way; used to swap out with my wife after two hours in the Accord (not a bad drive but not fun either). My favorite thing is to ignore the speed limit on curves; apparently they were not for BMWs as it can go at least 30-40 above the posted speed. Tires are like glue; Bridgestone 225/50 Tiranza. Does anyone no how long they will last?
Pure fun

Powerfull and torquey engine. Execelent handling and brakes. Harman kardon sound system and xenon. Perfect finish. Sport package is a must.

Weakness:

low profiles tires last only aprx 13000 miles. Must get used to the gearbox to be able to shift completely smooth.

I definetelly recommend this car, with sport packaged and stickshift. Also radar detector recommended!

Love almost everything except the fact that it isn'tan m3. The gears are butterthough I have to Admit it's not an m3. I like the feel of it and the jet cockpit interior far more than either the 328ci or the 330ci. Tha's a matter of preference(I like to actually feel the road and not feel likeI'm floating). Needs 17 or 18 inch that do justice to BMW (expensive!!!)

Weakness:

Expensive parts, everyone knows these things are expensive to maintain.

I'm waiting for the new m3, if they improve the feel over the 330ci I'll take it other wise probably end up supercharging mine. Love the looks it's stealth and if you don't to be too flashy this is the one. The looks will never fade.By the way Advantage has always iven me 110% quality service.

Strength:

Just the name beats most of the cars on the market BMW is a car that tells you that "you have arrive" it is inspiring, the 328i has good seats engine runs fine after 30,000 miles. Once you reach BMW there is no way back no less only foward I love my BMW and I'm very proud of owning one.

Weakness:

No CD player, and the compartment is small, also small back seats, Expensive parts

I tested all this cars and nothing compares with the BMW. BMW is a class car all of the other were good cars but BMW is better starting with the engine, road handling, FUN!, and of course it turns heads. I would recommend this car to anyone that has the money, power and respect if you don't have that then please choose another car. BMW is a Driving Machine and like a driving machine you should step back move over to the right lane and let the BMW pass through.

Everything! Quick, fun-to-drive!

Weakness:

small back seat

The Bimmer cost more than the competition, but after a week of driving it, I knew exactly where the extra cash went. I dig the Xenon headlights & the non-HK sound system is pretty darn good (previous system was custom Alpine/PPI/JL/Altec).

I've gone through 27,000 wonderful miles, 4 tires & 2 routine service intervals. I only wish I waited for the coupe!

Strength:

1) Lovely driving experience (rear wheel drive)
2) Lovely driving experience (deserves to be mentioned twice)
3) smooth transmission

Weakness:

1) Terrible realibility, more time in shop then with me.
2) Very costly maintenance and spare parts
3) awful service people
4) awful power and torque with Auto transmission
5) awful resale value
6) not a long termer

BMW is a brilliant car IF you can afford to keep pushing your hard earned coins to keep it happy.

They once ruled the rear-drive sport sedans theme, at the time i purchased the car. NOW, thanks to the brilliant Lexus IS, Alfa 156 and Audi A4/S4, thats not the case anymore.

Unless your BMW crazy, there are far better choices!

Strength:

Incredible handling.
Strikingly good looks.
"The ultimate driving machine"
Quick in a straight line.

Weakness:

I got a lemon so I won't say alot besides that.

I got my car 2 months ago. It was great riding for the first few weeks. You can become one with the road.
But then I had a faulty diverter valve. To the shop it goes. Then a phase inducer problem. Again to the shop. Then a multiphasic field detector went out of alignment. Followed by a destabilization of the coil emitters in the secondary hull. After a brief period of a week of fun driving again, the transmission died. Then the non-masking interrupt line went bonkers. Then the secondary L2 cache. Then an antimatter inbalance causing a shift in the continuum. This is scary stuff! I can't wait to get back into my Accord.

Strength:

Solid, strong, and longlasting.

Weakness:

Expensive to maintain, poor bass.

I bought a 1996 328i in 1999 for $30k. A beautiful car, with plenty of power. Handles well at above 100mph, and the five speed transmission is a joy. It's truly the envy of all my friends.
It gets good gas mileage for a gutsy 192 hp 2.8 litre in-line six. Whoever says that the extra money to upgrade from a 318/323/325 does not have a passion for driving.
Can't wait to buy the M3 Convertible and an M5 for fun.
