The vehicle rides smooth, is luxurious inside and is an enjoyment to drive.

Some problems with the vehicle cannot be detected by the service technology used for them. Indicator light does not light up and techs will not change out warranty parts when the problem cannot be "duplicated." I bought the car to avoid these problems, but found Cadillac uncaring and unwilling to help.

Vehicle has sensitive camber units which do not keep its alignment. It wore the inside of my tires out in 20K miles. Also, at 30K miles, in extreme cold temperatures (below 20 degrees) the stabilizer freezes and the shocks lock up, causing the vehicle to slam up and down like riding a jack hammer. Very dangerous for elderly. Cadillac dealerships and Customer Assistance offer no help saying these problems must be duplicated. Ironically, the bumper to bumper warranty does not cover ambivalence or intellectual schizophrenia in the service techs and their managers. Sensors may be bad too but Cadillac will not change it out under warranty. RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT BUT A GM PRODUCT.

Traction.

While preparing to by the Cadillac Catera for 1 year, I was never more excited to purchase my dream car. I've had it know for 2 1/2 years. Nothing but problems. The service on the car was very costly with the Warranty Agreement I had. The seat warmer went bad, the breaks when bad, light indicator when bad, all lights were inop, oil light indicator went bad, I had to pay to replace so many items that were outside of the Warranty agreement. I've had nothing but problems out of my dream car. My car was being serviced by Lindsay Cadillac. I had taken the car back more than 8 times for major problems and little more than 5 times for minor problems. I am know very careful about what car I will purchase in the future.

CATERA IS NOT BEING MADE ANYMORE!!!

AFTER PUTTING 6,000 MILES ON CAR PROBLEMS BEGIN. TOOK TO MCGINNIS CADILLAC IN HOUSTON TOLD BY SERVICE WRITER I WOULD PROBABLY GET A NEW MOTOR I HAD NOT EVEN TOLD HIM THE PROBLEM!HE SAID THEY ARE REPLACING THOUSANDS OF MOTORS UNDER`CAMPAIGN'CADILLAC SAYS MOTORS SHOULD LAST 100,000 MILES I HAVE 60,000 ON THE CAR THEY OFFERED TO PAY 40 %OF REPAIRS THEN BACKED OFF DENYING ANY HELP!WARRANTY CO. DENIED CLAIM CAUSE OF NATIONWIDE PROBLEMS WITH CATERA MOTORS!

Great ride! So far, everything works.Lots of pep in engine.

Hesitates somewhat when you press the accelerator petal hard. Then it will scat!

So far Ihave had no problems with my Catera.Right after I bought the car,I talked to a friend who is a Buick and Caddy salesman.He said tht every Catera he sold,that the engines had to be replaced.He als said that he always tries to talk customers in to buying anything but a Catera.So ever since I have been kind of looking over my shoulder at coming problems.I bought extended warrentys up to 100,000mi.I hope I don't have ant problems before I sell it.

I should of known in the beginning when the light kept coming on for the brakes that I should have returned the car but I was told it was just a short but it turned out to be that I needed new brake pads and rotors which was around 800.00. Then the heated seats went out and water pump, pulleys and belts went out. Now it has a hard time idling. Also, now the radiator light comes on which means there is a leak or a blown head gasket and I have only had this car a little over a year. The exterior parts keep coming off so I guess eventuall I will just be left with a frame to drive. I wish they would just recall the whole car. I do believe this car is not worth a penny and the parts that keep going wrong are overly priced. This is a true lemon.

Comfort and size.

Remote lock sensor works only close up. I had it into the dealership several times since 1999, and they can't seem to get it right. I've learned to get close to the car before unlocking. Small price to pay - I still love the car!

I love this little car! It rides like a dream for a small car...it hugs the road and takes curves well. It is a four door sports car!

Fully Loaded and plush as Cadillac is known for, yet sporty enough for a couple in their 20's.

Having to use the Premium fuel (it gets expensive).

So far the car is running great! I'm truily praying that it doesn't have the defects that the 1997 model has. We got a great deal on the car (seeing it's only two yrs old) since the Catera is no longer made.

A very deep money pit.

I have been in love with cadillacs for a long time until now!!!I bought the beautiful little car for my wife and two weeks later,my wife was saying the car has GREMLINS in it. We have had everything go wrong. The gremlins started in the front of the car. My windshield wipers stopped in the rain. The door lockes decided when and if they would open the doors. The dealer finally opened the door,got in and then couldn't get out. New set of tires. On a 400 mile trip I opened the trunk, and it dedided not to close!! The dealer ALIGNED the lock and we were on our way. 30 days later it BROKE!! Since then,sunroof does opposite of dial,the psi and voltage gages lay down at times together.The battery went dead,THEN THE RECALL, "under warranty". DON'T BUY THESE LEMONS. My car has been in the shop on every holiday!!! even Columbus day!!!
