Solid doors feel & close like the best Euro. Plenty of power if equipped with Sport Suspension Pkg. which also adjusts gear ratios. Four (4) programable buttons on steering wheel that driver can assign to do about any dash-controlled function - what a great idea. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of leg room. Great Bose sound.
Weakness:
No adj. lumbar. Wish CLS was 6" longer, with length shared between rear seats & truck. Deep textured dash hard to clean. After washing, water seeps/traps behind smoke-plastic truck-lid applica & will eventually turn into unsightly calcium deposits. Engine is a little louder then I expected, but I got use to it. Fun to drive & no problems in 4,000 miles. The car truly turn heads & IMO the sexiest lux every made in the US. Front map lights dim, but solved by opening lighted vanity mirrors which are very bright. You'll get a solid, dramatic-looking, feature rich car for $10-20K less than any Euro - I can't believe anyone would complain about power. Similar Products Used: Mercedes 320 |

CTS
Strength:
The CTS is a great looking car inside and out. You get a lot of car for your money. There are a lot standard features as well as good option packages. It drives and feels like a European sports sedan(when it is not at the dealership). To sum it all up, you get an American 5-series for 3-series money.
Weakness:
There are way too many problems with quality control and customer service. My car has a history of major component failure as well as unexplained noises. The CTS seems too fragile to be a serious sports sedan. Other short comings are the lack of a limit slip differential and a lumbar support. The CTS could use more horse power as well. I bought my CTS thinking I would have a cheaper BMW 5-series. Instead, I got a very expensive lemon. In the five thousand miles I drove this car the car has been serviced several times for defects. It has been at the dealership for transmission noises, a defective navigation, a leaking rear differential, a steering shaft recall, and a blown motor. Cadillac did not offer to replace the car or even the motor; instead they chose to repair the defective motor. They had the car for two months and they did not catch the leaking rear differential. Presently, I am attempting to get my money refunded from Cadillac through the lemon law. Cadillac is taking forever and I am probably going to have to go through arbitration to get my money back. Overall, the CTS is a great looking over grown paper weight, not an excellent entry level luxury sports sedan. Similar Products Used: I wanted a BMW 540 but I could not afford it. Because of that, I bought the CTS. I would have purchased the Infinity G35, however, the manual transmission was not available when I was shopping around. |

Weakness:
Slow Poor performance Bad reliability Bad build quality Bad dealer service When I first saw the CTS at a car show I said to myself “finally, a true sports sedan from the US”. So when they became available in my area I immediately went out and took one for a test drive. I thought it was a little slow but the dealer assured me that it would improve after a thousand miles or so. I liked the styling and the feel of the car so feeling patriotic, I bought a silver automatic for a little more than $41,000. Well, after 10,000 miles it was just as slow as it was when it was new. I went back to the dealer and they checked it out and said it was fine and went on how it wasn’t supposed to be a drag racer. Despite what my dealer said, I thought for sure there was something wrong with my car - it is a sports sedan after all. I was ready to go to GM about it until a co-worker showed me Motor Trend’s Car of the Year article. The fastest they could get to 60 mph in a CTS was 8 seconds! Most of the cars in the test were faster including the 4 cylinder Honda Accord! The handling numbers weren’t any better with the CTS bested in the skid pad and/or slalom by the entire group (except the Lincoln Town Car), which included the Suzuki Aerio and Honda Civic Hybrid! Needless to say, the CTS didn’t win Car of the Year. Aside from the lack of performance the car still fails to impress me. The styling looks more odd to me the more I look at it - too many lines and creases (The creases on the “D” pillar go in opposite directions!). Also, the paint chips easily, the interior isn’t laid out well and feels cheap, and the seats are uncomfortable on long trips. It only has 20,000 miles on it and I’ve had to bring it back to the dealer several times for silly things like the radio not working, driver’s side window not working, trunk lid and rear door misaligned and leaking, rattles (most of which the dealer hasn’t been able to fix because they claim they can’t hear them), power driver’s seat not working, and some interior trim pieces coming loose. I will probably have to bring it in again soon because the transmission is shifting hard and starting to slip a little. I’ve done all the scheduled service on time and at the Cadillac dealer. Dealer service is about as good as the car. That is to say, terrible. Every time I go in for repairs or service they act like I’m putting them out and take way too long to do the repairs. I am extremely disappointed with this car and my Cadillac Dealer. I haven’t looked up the resale value but I am not expecting much. I will probably be stuck with this slow piece of junk for a few more years. I would only recommend the CTS to a person that likes the style and must buy American but doesn’t need an actual sports sedan. If you want performance you can do better with just about anything else in this category or price range. Similar Products Used: I didn't look around before buying this car - HUGE mistake! |

Strength:
Handling, build, reliability. Good instrument panel illumination.
Weakness:
No adjustable lumbar support (to be corrected in 2004 model). Small glove box, no lockable interior storage with valet key. Trunk (and fold-down rear seat) not lockable with valet key. A joy to drive, excellent build quality, more than adequate power for all but a racing enthusiast. It's a "car for a seasons," single driver, small family, city commuter, cross-country Interstate or byway. |

Styling is good. Although I have had a few problems with the car, the dealership has given top quality service.
Weakness:
Transmission is the worst! I purchased my cts about a year ago because I wanted a head turner. The only turning that's being done is straight to the dealership. I have replaced the power steering pump and thermostat on the car. The fuel line on the car had to be replaced because it would not take gas at the pump. The transmission is rather sluggish, but the dealership says that's typical of the type of transmission in the car. This car means well, but it just doesn't cut it for me. I'm currently looking for another car because I don't want to get stuck with this one. Similar Products Used: Infiniti J30 |

Looks good. Gat the garnet red option color and nicknamed her princess. Beautiful neutral interiorr sets it off wonderfully. Good acceleration handles like a charm. Have not experienced any problem so far. Keep my fingers crossed after reading some of these reviews however.
Weakness:
Not as much room in the back seat as I would like but other than that I am very satisfied. So far I couldn't be happier. Got the automatic transmission. Similar Products Used: 2000 chevy impala |
