Strength:

gas mileage, handling, bose radio, smooth interior

Weakness:

small trunk, small back seat for a caddi, high replacement costs for parts

Good car!.. other review is right, ac and small electrical are possible. But this is common for almost all 97-99 caddi's. But on the whole, its one of the best cars I have owned. it does have some issues with its stability controll. Havent got around to have it diagnosed. but it is of little concern for the moment.

Strength:

Beautiful car and a comfort to drive. I love the heated seats!

Weakness:

Some type of stalling problem that the dealer can't find.

Have had this car for over a year now. It is my third Cadillac. I love the car except it stalls. I can be driving down the interstate or on an on/off ramp and it just goes dead. I have taken it to the Cadillac dealer and after 6 or more hours they can only tell me that the engine shows that it stalled. They want to keep it days to diagnose however, it doesn't stall every day. It cranks back up in neutral easily but steering it on a curve is hard for an average woman as myself. My parents have had a Cadillac since the 1950's and have always had a good experience with them but, this one is a mystery.

Too many to count!

Weakness:

Some of the interior features aren't all that pleasing. But the company improved them in the 95 edition.

We found this car to be entirely reliable and just a great car. The interior is mint and had no damage. The car has just been excelent!

Strength:

"American" styling, especially the tail; refinement and thrust of the Northstar; smooth ride on most surfaces; surprising agility--like another reviewer here, I've dispatched a few "Fast & Furiuos" wannabees and, last weekend, left the obnoxious driver of a BMW Z-3 in the dust on a winding country road (I autocrossed for several years and have some track experience...don't judge a driver by his/her car! :)

Weakness:

The CVRSS system/suspension tuning is a bit weird, with more head toss than I would expect (the ESC is much smoother than the ETC, however); torque steer at full throttle is a bit undignified; the brakes are sub-par, even for what is essentially an early 90's design: anyone have experience with upgrades, e.g., cross-drilled rotors/stronger calipers?

I had wanted a Cadillac Elodorado for several years, but was wary of purchasing a used one due to the potential cost and frequency of repairs. However, thanks to a good job promotion and 0% financing, I jumped off the fence at my 40th birthday and bought one of the last new Eldorados for sale in the Washington DC area. I have since accumulated 22,000 miles with no failures. The only issues I've had are (1) that even slight wheel imbalance or asymmetry spoils what would be a glassy highway demeanor, and (2) the brake rotors needed turning at 18,000 miles--but then, I'm very atuned to such things. Oil consumption is nil; I use Mobil-1 synthetic, always wait for the idle RPM to settle after starting, and baby the car the first few miles as it warms up. In summary, although I am eating a lot of depreciation, I'm thoroughly enjoying my Eldorado and hope that Cadillac reintroduces the model as a cross between this version (size, comfort, presence) and the new CTS-V (world-class performance and handling). Now THAT would be an Eldorado to lust for!

Strength:

Looks are great, paint is fantastic (Crimson Pearl Red), leather fery soft and kept with Griot's Garage treatment products. Very smooth running. Love the Northstar engine, transmission shifts perfect and all the personal features of the car are magnificent.

Weakness:

The only proplem was the tie rod ends were not installed correctly at the factory and the dealer replaced them and re-alingned the front end.

Purchased the car from McCann Cadillac in Fife Washington. Traded in a 1992 Allante' with 46k miles. The Eldorado had 14,900 miles and a single owner. There were a few areas that required attention and McCann handled them all. Sense my purchase 4 months ago, my wife and I have taken 2 trips totalling 4k miles. The car has proformed flawlessly returning 33.5 mpg highway and 21.2 mpg city. I have detailed every asspect of the car with Griot's Garage products and the appearance is now better than new, per the Service Manager at the dealer. We purchased the extended Wynn's warrantee for 6 years/72k miles and have total trust in the car. The ride is fantastic, very quiet and everything works as designed. I purchased an OBD II scanner and will monitor all functions. The car uses about 1/8 cup of oil in 1000 miles. no leaks anywhere, either water or oil. I also own a 1983 BMW 633CSi, so I am qualified to evaluate fine cars. This is our 7 Cadillac in 40 years along with Jaguars XKE's, Lanica Zagato's & BMWs. The interior is great off white leather with very light tan carpet. The car is kept in air-conditioned/heated garage that is also a full shop. I replaced the OEM tires, 9/32" tread with Goodyear Aquatreads because I want my wife to have the best wet traction tire available, AA rated. So fare the car is everything we desire and I am sure we will own it for may years.

Weakness:

a/c and electrical system

love the car, 4.6 northstar, 300 hp black on black, no problems with car. i am a mechanic, engine leaking no oil-big surprise as many do, previous owners very picky, dealer maintained entire vehicle. plenty of power to keep up with more expensive vehicles. this vehicle gets looks like you would not believe. i had a 1997 eldorado etc before, sold it before it hit 100,000kms it was pearl red, awesome car. cant say a bad thing about these vehicles, i work on them all the time, other then electrical and a/c problems, no other major problems to complain about. from my experience, all vehicles have faults, and for the people that put down this car, you don't know what you are missing, i am 25 and people envy me in this car. it shines bright from waxing and washing it religiously. anybody that has one should keep it that way since they stopped making them. true collectors item i think. in my opinion it is cadillacs best styling job in a long while and even to this date it still is!! so if you have the chance to buy one, should, you wont regret it!!

Strength:

Comfortable, smooth ride. Excellent fuel economy (27 in town, 30+ on the highway). 12 disc changer in the trunk. Excellent purchasing price for used models. Offer half of what they're asking and stick to it, chances are they only gave 3-4k on trade for it and will sell it very cheaply if you pay cash.

Weakness:

Nobody but the dealer will touch this car. I went to other garages for the before mentioned repairs but nobody would take them on. In rural Iowa, finding a Dealer can be tricky. But- the dealer prices are not elevated above independent mechanics here, so I dont know. Parts are very expensive. Trunk is very small for a car this size. Only one set of golf clubs fit- and barely at that. and- THE REPAIR BILLS ADD UP. but- what other car can you put 60,000 miles on in two years with few bucks in repairs.

I drive cars until the wheels fall off. My grand am left me beside the road 300 miles from home and I bought the Eldo on the spot. Needed a good commuter car for 300+ a week. Awesome ride, good handling, 30+mpg at 65-75mph. I have put 60,000 miles on the car myself (in 2 years) to make a grand total of 105,000. So in short, I've driven the bejeezus out of the car. I also have done the following work: Engine case reseal($700), Head Gasket replacement ($2700), new plugs, wires, and fuel system repair ($800), new brakes ($500). Next week I am replacing the A/C compressor which went out in July ($600). I know there are some valves floating too, but power is strong, fuel economy is good, and I cant help but point this car down the yellow dotted line until it too gives up the ghost. (Also, yesterday a piece of plastic stripping along the bottom of a door was removed by a little old lady in a buick at the mall. New part=$250. Thank god for junk yards)

Fast, comfortable, beautiful...classic timeless styling. Digital info reminders (oil change, gasoline, etc. very helpful...they annoy you into properly maintaining your car!!

Weakness:

Water pump prone to failure...bad reputation. $300 repair, and only lasts about 30,000 miles. Poor cupholders. Analog (dial) gages are better looking and more classy than digital readout. Also, not the best rearward visibility. But these are minor nags...car is overall excellent!!

I bought the car for its beauty and became impressed with it at all levels. It was luxurious, fast, easy to maintain, very safe and pretty reliable. I wish I still had it but a lady hit me head on at about 40 mph. Entire front was crumpled to almost the windshield. The car's seat belts and air bag saved me...I just opened the door and walked away. I am looking for another (1993 to 1996) in the spring.

300HP-- Keeps up with everything on the road Quiet--Unless under wot Ride--very very smooth, just as good as a benz Look/style--Classic desine, classy and sassy in the same package. Comfort-- Heated seats and windsheld are very nice. Also autodimming merrors are nice.

Weakness:

Not the most reliable car ever built. HOWEVER, these cars are far easier to repair then my previous honda prelude 4ws. The eldo is desined very nicely, and it can (if you have the tools) be repaired by its owner fairly easily. Granted parts are not cheep, but they arn't cheep for any good cars... Mantance, such as the 7.5L's of oil the northstar takes can get expensive quick along with gas mileage (ave of 21mpg) on 93 octange gas. Most people think they are old people cars.

I wanted to wait a while before I wrote a review on my 94 eldo etc, so I could get a full taste of what the car was really like. Like any car it has both postive and negitive aspects. Overall, I would say its a good car and I enjoy my etc very much, however it is costly, yet, worth it.
