This is my first Cad in about 15 years. Great ride, good power, interior is excellent. No vibrations,is smooth as glass at all speeds. gas mileage outstanding for a large car. I have no complaints regarding Cadillacs.

Strength:

Good looks and lots of toys.

Weakness:

Depreciation. Premature rusting.Vibration at highway speeds.

This POS has started rusting on all four doors. This is a three year old vehicle. General Motors accepts the fact that their flagship vehicle will rust at three years and will not cover the cost of repairs. The sad part is that even after the repairs we all know that rust is like a cancer and will come back in time. It is no wonder that these cars depreciate so quickly and that the offshore manufacturers are leaping ahead in market share. I also have the vibration at 60-70mph which is well documented and General Motors seems to think we all will believe can be attributed to tire problems. Do yourself a favour and give any other luxury vehicle long consideration before purchasing any Cadillac. See http://www.geocities.com/myrusty2000cadillacsts/ for more details

Strength:

good looks and lots of fun options

Weakness:

the vibration , suspension, and steering are unacceptable for the classification of a luxury car or truck for that matter.

I thought this would be the car of my dreams, but instead has become my worst nightmare. purchased with only 5000 mi. on it, and impressed with the look of the car I found out after driving it, beauty is only skin deep. This car does nothing but vibrate, especially between 60 and 70 mph. It's like driving a jack hammer! After being told that the probem is caused by the Goodyear tires, they were replaced with Michelins. Unfortunatley, Cadillac is wasting alot of good tires because the ride has not improved at all. Many other owners are having the same problem as stated by the service manager I have been dealing with. The car is now having new control arms installed which is the next step in fixing this vibration. This is according to the technical bulletin that was put out by GM. The technical bulletin also states that this fix will only dampen the vibration, not really stop it completely. I haven't told them about the heater cutting out, or the front end "knocking sound" when taking turns. One problem at a time. I gave up a 1995 Lincoln Continental with 80,000 mi. that drove like a dream. I sincerely hope this review opens the eyes of future buyers to stay away! Don't let the beauty and gadgets of this car woo you, like they did me. Cadillac has a very serious problem that your sevice dept. won't be able to fix.

Weakness:

OVER RATED To many problems

This car has been the absolute worst car I have ever owned. Nothing but problems from day 1. It has terrible vibration at 60-70 mph (Cadillac dealer said there is nothing they can do to correct this. Its a design flaw) Electrical problems, suspension problems. The car is great as long as you just look at it and don't drive it. Wish I could just give it back.

Bose 4.0 still the best, runs on regular gas, rain sensing wipers, looks good.

Weakness:

The ride, the service (or lack of).Quick depreciation.

I am tinking of ways I can get rid of this car without losing my shirt. This is my third Cadillac, with a BMW inbetween numbers 2 and 3. What happened to my STS? It rides like a 52 pick up and vibrates like no other car I've ever owned (21 of them)

Strength:

comfortable, a pleasure to drive, reliable, not bad on gas when taken what it has under the hood and its weight, and its eye catching to look at. Technologically superior to many cars out there, even ones 20-40k more than the STS.

Weakness:

some fit and finish issues but not serious ones, and depreciation. Although cars never appreicate in value in the real world, the STS depreciates very quickly. I bought mine used thanks to a wealthy old man who in 18 months of ownership drove the STS 3,500 miles. This car is a cream puff but you won't be saying that when you get behind the wheel and step on the gas hard. However, with that being said, if you want to have realistic depreciation with this car buy it used, like I did. If you don't care about depreciation than buy it new.It is not uncommon to find an STS a year iold with 12-15 thousand miles than has gone down in value 10-15 thousand dollars. If you want something with more depreciation look at buying a Lincoln (any type) or buy a boat.

I love this car for starters. It is very fast well refined, decent on gas considering its almost 4000lb. weight and its quite comfortable on long and short trips. It is an eye catcher, very reliable and fun to drive.

The car is very comfortable for a person 6 ft., 4 in. tall. Heated seats are great. Sound system[Bose factory w/12 CD player in trunk awesome! Great curb appeal!

Weakness:

Minor electrical quirks. Next....

I had been shopping for a used STS for a while. I found that the quality varies greatly depending on the way the car was originally built, as well as how the owner treated the vehicle. Very important to drive the car both fast and slow, and hit some curves. My car is still surprising me with how fun it is to drive. It drives beautifully at slow cruising speeds[under 50m.p.h]. Launch it, and hold on! The beauty of this car is that the faster you go, the steering, suspension and brakes wake up and make the car feel like it is being held to the road. At slow speeds, it feels like a large car. At quick accelaeration, it feels quick and nimble. Nice job! I have owned many toys;SHO, Lightning, MR2 turbo, Corvette...this car is the best of all worlds. And I get about 18-20 mpg. Just put the factory Goodyear Eagle R-AS's on the front, and left the Eagle GA's on the rear[still have 6 mo. tread]. Will see soon how the car handles in winter driving in Connecticut. Problems have been minor except for the AC compressor, which the dealer replaced for a rebuilt and gave me a lifetime warranty on it at their cost!......Love it

Engine, seats

Weakness:

Workmanship, drinks oil

The Seville is a nice car but has some problems in workmanship. Parts don't match well and they rattle. Ergonimics aren't very good. The clock is not viewable in daylight and the sungalss holder is hidden in the glovebox. I ownes a Continental before and bought the Caddy for something different. I miss the Conti. The Caddy rides nice and the engine is strong. Watch out because they drink oil. There is a TSB from Caddy that states that they consume a quart every 2000 miles. Handles well for a large car and the seats are comfortable.
