Chrysler 300M Luxury

Chrysler 300M Luxury

DESCRIPTION

Chrysler launched the completely new, sport-oriented 300M in 1999. The 300M used the same front-drive chassis as the Concorde/Intrepid, but had distinct styling and a shorter body. Power was supplied by a 3.5L 253-horsepower V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, though the 300M was fitted with Chrysler's AutoStick automatic, which permits manually-selected gear changes using a separate shift gate. The 300M distinguished itself with 17-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension and steering settings. The Performance Handling option gave the 300M more aggressive 16-inch rubber. The 300M is a 5-passenger sedan with leather upholstery and heated front seats standard.

My 300M engine is shot. I have been told that the engine is ready to blow. It has 130,000 miles. This car has been nothing but trouble. The transmission went, that was fixed due to warrenty. Now I have been told the engine is going. Keep in mind that is has run rough and had a knocking noise that I have complained about since it was about 6 months old. If you thinking of buying this car don't. It wont last much past 100,000 miles.

Strength:

Strong engine, great seats, large trunk, auto-stick, Acceleration!!! and handling. Looks great even after 5 years. Nothing has worn out prematurely. The best American Sedan I've ever experienced. (that's a lot of cars)

Weakness:

Road noise (never got much better even with summer tires). My 2000 has the stiff suspension, which I love. I completely wore it out and replaced almost all the suspension components at 128,000. It is running and handling like new. It is the rest of it that is feeling old.

This is my 3rd or 4th review of this car and will probably be my last. My 300M has 141,000 miles on it and I love it as much as I expressed in all of my earlier reviews. It is just now starting to feel like it is getting old. A few strange noises, a few electric glitches etc. A great, great car. If you can find a 2004-BUY IT! The best car for the money you'll ever drive. As a bonus; it is great in the winter also (northeast USA). This car is the only reason I am considering buying another American Car. I am in the market for an all-wheel drive performance sedan and the new 300C is on my list along with a BMW 330xi and an Infinity G35x. Pretty strong company for a Chrysler and it is all because of my 300M. I have talked to other owners that I've met at various places. Every one I talked to has loved his 300M. If you are considering one, buy it! As with most brands, it will either be a great car or a trouble maker. I think the 2004's are the best of them all. For more specifics from my experience with this car, please read my earlier reviews.

Strength:

Style, roominess, value (especially on the used car market), performance, comforts, engine/tranny durability, overall low maintenance vehicle

Weakness:

rotors warp at about 20k (better quality rotors may solve the problem, oem Goodyear Eagles were noisy and didnt handle very well (replaced with BF Goodrich traction t/a) all my original door lock actuators went bad (replacement ones were fine and they are easy to replace if you know how, midlevel road noise, some wind noise, shrinking weatherstrips (easily fixed if you know how)

Paid 28,600 loaded and got .9% financing back in April of 2000--great deal at the time for a 32,600 list. I have owned this car for over 5 years and 90k miles. Has been a great car and very dependable. Roominess, style, all the toys, headturner-what more could you want. I am considering buying an 02 Special right now--great value on the used car market--a future collectible . And you can join the Chrylser 300M Enthusiasts Club--an online club with over 1000 members--then you can learn how to fix things yourself or at least know what to tell your mechanic--I laugh at some of the issues raised by some of the disastisfied owners on this board--some of the things they mentioned are very easy to fix yourself which you can learn from club members in the know--just join the Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club and start saving some money. YOu can now buy a used 300M for a song. If you havent test driven one, what are you waiting for.

Looks - very unique- eye catcher That 80's feel and look

Weakness:

Not realible Always at the dealer for warranty work Leather seats could have been sewn better It looks like Chrysler put all efforts in superficial stuff like the car's looks and loading it with gadgets but fell short in substance such as realibility and quality. Trade in value is very low compared to it's competitors.

Car looks great but has to many gadgets that need fixing. Within a couple of purchasing this new vehicle, the CD changer broke. It had to be sent back to the manufacturer with my CDs and all. Then the car started leaking fluid and back to the dealer again. The check engine light came on about 3 times and the dealer could not figure it out. Then car began leaking fluid again, this time it was anti-freeze (red anti-freeze). Two weeks later the check engine light came back on and this time the dealer replaced air and temp sensors. All this and the car has less than 22k miles. Lastly, the breaks needed replacement before 15k miles. The car looks great but is not reliable because you never know when the check engine light will come back on or when it will leak fluids again. For the price of the car, we should expect and should have received a better quality car. Most of this is all warranty work, but the warranty does not cover the time lost going back and forth to the dealer, having to find other transportation while the car is in the shop.

-looks -interior -performance -fair gas milage -pure joy behind the wheel

Weakness:

-Check engine light always on (minor stuff)

I have bought a 2002 Chrysler 300M Special in March of 2005 with 44200 miles on it. I was in the market for a fast 4 cyl vehicle like the WRX, but I found this Special edition Chrysler among several other 300M standard cars and I decided to go with this Chrysler. The 300M special is indeed Special it came standard with 18 inch alloy wheels, ground effects, sun roof, leather, ABS, traction control, dual exhaust, heated seats, front and side air bags, engine immobilizer and much more. This car is very roomy for a guy who is 6'1 and 230lbs heavy built I feel like a king sitting behind the wheel. I've put about 2000 miles in the last two months and I am very happy with the purchase. This car is not suited for city driving, especially here in NYC as the gas gauge sinks to Empty rather quickly with my lead foot, but on the highway I average about 26MPG, also this car requires 89 grade fuel, that means no regular! This is one powerful vehicle. Its very quick off the line, considering the weight of the car. I love the steering wheel response and the independent suspension. The car hugs the road really well on the 245/45/18 Michelline tires. I recently bought and installed the Mopar RB1 navigation unit for the road trip this summer. Being 22 years old and in college, this car is a huge step up from the previous cars I've owned. My only complaint about this car is the check engine light (CEL). I've had the mechanic run the codes and it keeps poping up as a small air leak in the gas system. The dealer had replaced the defective valve but 3 weeks later the light came back on, but it is nothing serious. Overall, I am pleased with this luxury sedan. The Subaru WRX might be a quick car but I prefer style over speed. And the 300M Special is one classy car. If you are considering a 300M, try the Special.

Power, beauty, grace, comfort, space.

Weakness:

No aftermarket products, no room for a supercharger, not enough 300M specials available to purchase. Who am I kidding? This car has no weaknesses........wait!! There is just one. The headlight covers are made of plastic and if they are not taken care of, they will haze and crackle. Replacement headlight casings cost about $250 each.

The 300M is truly the best automobile I've ever owned! (and i've owned a few of the world's best. It's been a yr now with 81000 miles and all I've had to change are the tires!! Power, grace, comfort, and style. It's a Toyota Supra meets Mercedes family sedan. My next vehicle can only be the same style 300M special. A buddy of mine owns the new style 300M with the Hemi engine which is phenominal on gas and power since its a full time 4 cylinder until you race it. But believe it or not my 2000 300m which has only been lowered an inch and rides on 245 45 17's is faster and far more beautiful! Take it from a 32yr old who's been married 3 times and has 4 kids and has owned from a Pinto to a BMW M3 the 300M is the absolute best vehicle you can buy. (Why does it matter what my personal life entails you ask? The experiences I've had give me the wisom of a 60 yr old but my age is still true to the fact that im still a kid who appreciates raw power with style and finesse!) Just go out and get one of these babies!!!
