Chrysler 300M Luxury

Chrysler 300M Luxury

DESCRIPTION

Chrysler launched the completely new, sport-oriented 300M in 1999. The 300M used the same front-drive chassis as the Concorde/Intrepid, but had distinct styling and a shorter body. Power was supplied by a 3.5L 253-horsepower V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, though the 300M was fitted with Chrysler's AutoStick automatic, which permits manually-selected gear changes using a separate shift gate. The 300M distinguished itself with 17-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension and steering settings. The Performance Handling option gave the 300M more aggressive 16-inch rubber. The 300M is a 5-passenger sedan with leather upholstery and heated front seats standard.

I bought this car at 60,000 miles and i must say i love this car. I now have 88,000 miles. The only problem i have that ive noticed alot of you have had is, driver side window motor went out, also had to replace front rotors. Other than that ive had no other problems. It really depends on where you purchase your car. I think the car just has its problems that chysler should replace if all of us have the same problem. The motor is strong and trust me ive raced a lot of my friends rice rockets and trust you me i bust that ass. Its an over all classy car and im a classy man so i deserve it. I have put 20' rims on my car that put it in another class of its own

Strength:

smooth as silk, pampered comfort and room. plenty of get up and go, abit on the scary side, if you know what I mean. Handles like a dream.

Weakness:

Stereo overpowered my Infinity speakers, solved with a new Bose system. Also, needed new tires due to fast cornering, got the Eagle GT speed rated to 160 MPH. Unfortunately the speed governor cuts the gas off at 120 MPH. Last weakness, makes me want the 2005 5.7 Hemi 300M.

Excellent Chrysler engineering, obvious Daimler influences. I have owned a Bonneville, Cadillac, and a Lincoln. This car has alot of Detroit steel upbringing, and is a true American luxury car. The mileage is great, I get 26 hwy, and about 18 city. Not bad for a huge family sedan. All the bells and whistles. Mine had 78000 miles when I bought it, and it is still new to me. I think I will see about a turbocharger just to see the BEEmers squirm.

Too many to list. DON'T BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!

The worst car I ever had. I will never buy another Chrysler again. It cost me $300 to replace the battery. They had to remove the driver's side tire to get to the freaking battery. Everytime I turn around, there is something wrong with the car. The window motors ($100) went out. The fans had to be replaced ($1,000). The control arms had to be replaced ($500). The ac went out. I change the spark plugs twice and still have the same problem ($500). The steering column had to be replaced ($750). I can go on and on. I spent over $5,000 in repairs, almost have what I paid for the car. I could of gotten a nice Accord and now worry about all these problems. Chrysler should be ashamed to product such an inferior product. You couldn't give me anything made by Chrysler!!!!!!!!!!

Styling Power Handling Interior Styling, LOTS of leg/headroom both front and back for five and backseats flip down

Weakness:

Rear backup/visibility despite side mirror automatically bends down (don't want to try and parallel park it) 6 disk CD changer has all the features and power but I must say the Infinity speakers in our Grand Cherokee have better bass - a nit Another nit: why no hood engine light or better door and side turn lights on a (list) $33,000 car?

I will add a very early review for the benefit of those looking to pickup an excellent deal on a NEW 300M luxury sports car as I did a similar thing on our 01 Grand Cherokee and then added another (positive but less glowing) review a few years later. We've had 2 Grand Prix's the past 15 years and could not fit into the new smaller body style as I am 6'4, wife 5'9 and son is 6'1. So after considerable internet research using this site, Edmunds, CarAndDriver and others we narrowed down to a sporty Accord, Galant, Bonneville or 300M, subsequently narrowed by the wife to the Bonne or 300M (Accord too plan, Galant not refined). My son & I did not fit in the Bonne with a sunroof and we got incredible deals on the 300M since it was changing to a new model with REAR wheel drive, not what we wanted living in rural snow belt area. After the first few hundred miles we really love the 300M; the are on line clubs and considerable accolades around to the loves people have with this car. Our loaded red model w/sunroof has everything going for it so if the reliability holds up so will I for I hope a 7-10 year ownership. 7/70 warranty and minimal scheduled maintenance are a plus too. But we really fell for the styling, power, handling, interior. So far mileage is 18 in town and 26 highway with only few hundred on odometer. Again, I will add more in another year or two as I really like this site and Edmunds for the most intelligent info for car buyers. Note: besides the $4000 rebates dealers are knocking$3-4000 off but you have to take what's on the lot, however an incredible deal around $24-25K for a car comparable to a low end Lexus or other eurosport sedan but US made (ok, like caravans it's made in Canada).

Strength:

- Good sound system - Great power/handling when running right - Enough room to sleep in so you won't have to rent a motel when it breaks down on the middle of the road.

Weakness:

- MAINTANCE... CHRYSLER NEVER THINKS ABOUT THIS! YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN THIS CAR! - Noisy at times. - Never running when you need it - Sparkplugs are impossible to change without mechanic. - Replacement parts arn't even worth mentioning prices. - Motors die easily. and pretty soon it's 3.5 253 HP piece of crap will to.

No No No No H*LL NO!!! Chrysler's managed to do it again! let a perfectly nice looking car go straight to oblivia... Okay, the car looks awsome inside out... there's a catch however. What you ask? CHRYSLER/DODGE/PLYMOUTH! Manufacture's so poor they make FORD look superior. Okay, 90K Miles and driverside mirror is out. 100K Miles and the hood won't pop and dealer can't figure out why?!... TYPICAL chrysler. Around the same time, the car key triggered an alarm system causing a starter failure. $800 right out of your wallet just to reset the fricken computer and have a new key made. 110K Miles and the car gets finicky enough where it will only start when it's warmer than 60 degrees... LUCKLY I live down south and I STILL can't start it in the morning. Now the hood which fails to pop won't shut and stay shut! Meaning I'm in the right lane at all times praying my hood doesn't fly open in my face while doing 40 MPH on the freeway. Lets not forget about our passengerside headlight that just went out. Chrysler says "Oh we can't just replace the bulb, it comes as one whole unit" One whole unit totaling to $300 @%&^$@ DOLLARS!!!! I'm better off paying a ticket than that! Not bad enough? Lets get to the simple maintances... wait what maintence?! They rigged the piece of crap to be a "bring it to the dealer" car... CANNOT reach the Alternator or the belts. Even to get to the battery you have to pull the PASSENGER side wheel off and get under the fender and fiddle with it. Lets get to the electronics! Window motors die like batteries! Windshield wipers lose track and just speed off on even the slowest setting. Replaced the blades and already it needs new ones after only two weeks of use and barely any rain. The climate control is to limited, you can only use auto on defroster and ground level. The only good values in this car is room which it had a good bit of so you can sleep in it when it breaks down on the interstate on you between NewYork and California. The sound system is pretty decent aswell so the music can errie away the noise this car makes when you're doing 15 MPH down a city street. This car gets highway gas like a Japanese car, why wouldn't it? It kisses dirt like one to. City gas, I've seen better but I've seen a heck of alot worse to, no complaints. Overall, the Ford Taurus holds a better value not only in mind but RESALE aswell than this car. It's pitifull, drive off the lot a brand new $30,000 car and as soon as you leave the dealer, it's already down to nearly $15,000... You want a problem car? by all means this is your best choice yet. You want a dependable car? A Ford Taurus proves to be more endurable than this P.O.S Nice try Chrysler, but style doesn't substitute stability.

Looks, comfort, handling, acceleration(especially at or near highway speeds) smooth ride, lots of room, split fold down seats, large trunk, great sound system (optional infinity), I love this car and will buy again

Weakness:

road noise (but I've driven others and unless you go up about $8,000 it is about the same), paint chips easily,

This is my 3rd review of this car. I'm now at 101,000 miles and I still love it. I've been testing others (G35, A6, LS), but I'm too happy to let this go. Still not one breakdown or serious problem. The car looks great, is comfortable, quick with power to spare and handles wonderfully. I have the same complaints as I mentioned in the first review: road noise and paint quality. Different tires helped with the road noise and I highly recommend getting the quietest ones you can find. Large interior and nice features like overhead readouts. Controls are easy and clear. Large trunk and good seating room in the rear. This car has also been great in bad driving conditions (northeast US). It is predictable and steady on slick roads-no surprises-just steady responses from the steering wheel and the throtle. I may actually buy another one, if this one ever wears out. Look for an update in another 50,000 miles (this fall sometime)

Bad manufacture quality, such as parts.

So far I have 2 problems on the window motor, front driver and rear passenger. Spent about more than $200 and yet after a month the rear break down again. Right about a year later, the speed sensor failed. Cost me more than $200 to fix. Wonder a 3 years old car can really give so much problems.
