Strength:

Good road handling, great back seat leg room and trunk space (4 sets of golf clubs).

Weakness:

Poor rear window visiblity. Design flaw in power window mechanism (replaced 5 motors in 5 yrs).

Purchased in 1998 and have driven 116,000 miles, mostly highway, with few problems until recently. Now it has an apparent electronic shifting problem at high acceleration as if it temporarily loses power. Neither my personal mechanic nor the dealer's service center can diagnose the problem with the the latest computer diagnostic equipment.

Strength:

Gone for over 185,000 miles in just 5 years and had no problems with any part of the car at all. Everything runs great.

Weakness:

It wasn't desided to be a racer... but I still try to make it run like one on occations... I really can't complain about this car... I've had no problems.

I bought this brand new in 1999. In these few short years since I purchased the car I have put 185,000 miles on it. I have had no problems with any part of the car what so ever. A 5 year old car with 185,000 miles on it with the original engine, transmition, and everything else completly stock/original (minus the performance sound system I installed to replace all the speakers and then add some) says alot for Chrysler. I have had absolutly no problems whats-so-ever with this car. I even race it on occations, just for the fun of it and to see how it compares to other cars (stock or performance inhanced), and had still had no problems with this car at all. Chrysler has really done a good job in recent years with makeing their cars be able to handle the tests of every day driving and then some.

a good one
Model Reviewed: New Yorker

Strength:

Engine and drive train have been flawless for me, but others have had tranny problems. AC still belts out cold air; never been recharged, and this is the South! Build quality very high on this model; later LHS/Concord models were cheesy in comparison. This car is more reliable than my Volvos or Toyotas were, an unusual happenstance for anything Chrysler or Detroit puts out. Maybe they made a mistake...

Weakness:

Replaced water pump at 60K and again at 108K, at about $400 each repair. Stereo push buttons and volume control are starting to be unresponsive at 151K. Can't think of anything else; I got lucky. Hope the next one is as good, but the odds don't favor it!

I bought this car off lease in 1997. It had 17,000 miles on it. Six years and 134,000 miles later I still love it. I will truly be sad when it "passes away", but see no evidence that it's going to happen. The car still doesn't use oil, has had no serious mechanical problems, still hauls my kids and their junk around with ease, and the 3.5 liter 250 hp engine appears to be one of MOPAR's few modern triumphs (it may be the modern version of the fabled "slant 6" of 30 years ago...) Still love the car's styling and cavernous interior space, and really like hearing the B-52's "Love Shack" blaring on the Infiniti stereo ("...got me a chrysler/seats about 20/ so hurry up/ and bring your juke box money...") Hope this ride lasts another 10 years, because I haven't seen anything else that compares in this price range. My wife's new 300M is a piece of crap in comparison.

Strength:

Durability. The paint looks new. The leather seats have worn well. No leaks ever.

Weakness:

Have replaced all the window motors and power locks. Windows stick to rubber. Lock mechanism is powered by flimsy plastic that doesn't want to push up the lock. Several of the speakers with the 360 watt optional stereo system have blown and had to be replaced. Batteries only last about a year in this car.

Best car I've ever owned. I've bought 10 new vehicles and this one has been the best. I've put 128,000 miles on it in 3.5 years. Doesn't burn any oil. Everything works. Of course, I've used Amsoil products and service myself anything I can.

Strength:

Very roomy and great ride. The trunk is huge and car is very sporty to be a large car.

Weakness:

Highway noise from front tires, they really sit back towards front doors.I removed front spoiler because the car sits very low, causing scraping of road when pulling out of parking lots. Can't tell thats it's gone if you did,nt know it ever had one.

I bought this car used at 39000 miles and have put 10000 miles on it.We use it as a family vehicle and just completed a 15000 mile trip and we just love the car.Great ride and very confortable. No problems for us or previous owners.

Quiet interior. Great sound system. Smooth runing car at any speed. My kids even like it! Loaded with options. Ist owner paid over 30K for this. Sorry, Your loss is my gain!

Weakness:

I could use alittle more front leg room. Im a big guy 6'4. But the seats make up for it.

Excellent Car!!! All the bells and whistles. 240w Sound system w/ 4 disc changer is great. All options except upgraded stereo system. I love this car. Quiet and responsive. I got a good one this time.

Strength:

The power seat memory, comfort and the way it handles in curves

Weakness:

The Goodyear Eagle tires that came on the car were very noisy and two blew out at less than 26,ooo miles, The main thing is the A/C unit, have spent $460.00 on a leak check and refill , four days later the fans went out another 338.00, didnt use air for a couple weeks because it got cold again, when we turned it on , it smelt like old moldy socks. Now they say its the evaporator and dash has to be remove at a cost of 1,050.00. Servive people said it happens a lot, since changeing from freon to liquid. Have talked to several A/C repairs shops and they have all said Chrysler has had a problem with there a/c units for a numbert of yrs and its gotten worse in past couple of yrs. If there is that big a problem dont know why they dont recall thwem for that and fix the problem.

We have driven this car since it was new, now has 88,000 miles in a little over four yrs, Its a great car on the road and comfortable

Great Pickup, sensational sound system, very roomy, large trunk easy to get large awkward boxes in & out of

Weakness:

Remote keyless entry could have been improved, leather is squeaky but just armor all it and its fine, the gas shocks to raise the hood could have been something different like springs

This is a great car, we havent had any problems with it at all. I have driven it from upper PA to Washington DC about 10 times never had any problems. Highly Reccomemded

Strength:

Styling, engine, stereo, gas mileage is decent for this size car - 26mpg highway, 20-21 mixed.

Weakness:

None really, the paint is starting to fade on the roof and hood, but that is partially due to the color - red - and 6 years under the florida sun. Had 2 red cars prior and they both did the same.

Was actually a little surprised over the LACK of problems, since a lot of people have reported transmission, electrical, AC etc. with this car. Bought it anyway in 2001 with 103.000 miles on it. Great ride, lots of luxury, engine is strong enough unless you're planning on racing it. Have put 31.000 miles in a year and a half with nothing but oil changes and 1 new battery!!

Strength:

Lots of room, creature comforts, cosmetically appealing car (very classy looking car), good gas mileage, nice riding car, low cost to maintain & service

Weakness:

low residual value, few blind spots

I was set on a either a pre-owned Lexus GS300 or a BMW 740il. Than I saw the Chrysler LHS. Apples to Apples it had all the same features. Heated seats with memory, CD, leather, power sunroof, automatic V6 engine, keyless entry, alarm, AC, mounted audio controls on the steering wheel, crusie control, power everything. Maybe like yourself, I really wouldn't be put out spending the extra money on the other "high line" cars since many of them do hold their resale value stonger, but with the LHS you'll be getting alot of car for the money, especially if you're the type to keep the car longer than just a few years, without making sacrifices for the price tag.
