Strength:

Solid car. No major problems. Good warranty coverage (brakes included!). Holds it's value very well.

Weakness:

Little annoying things about the car - gas tank problems, gas cap, creaks and clunks from unusual areas.

This is my third post - first was in 2004 when I test drove and then in 2005. Still enjoy the car !!! Haven't grown bored of the fun factor or power. There are a lot of nice cars out there now that compete with the power and looks of the G. Infiniti is coming out with the new G in 2008 which should be interesting. I may look at trading up at some point....

Strength:

Feel, acceleration, handling, looks and comfortable drivers seat. Sports car sexiness and qualities with a forgiving ride. Trust me, women love it.

Weakness:

16 miles to the gallon average on premium gas, but I knew that going in as majority of my driving is city and this car has 280hp.

I posted a review on this car on May 23, 2005. It was 11 months old and had 8,000 miles on it. It is now 2 1/2 years old and has 20,000 miles on it. Approximately 65% of my miles is city driving and the remaining 35% is highway.

I take it without fail to Jiffy Lube every 3,750 miles for an oil change and took it to the dealer at 15,000 miles for premium service as recommended in the owners manual (these are the intervals recommended for high city use). Other than these visits, I have not had any other reason to see an Inifinti technician. At the 15,000 mile service King Infiniti performed all the required checks and replaced the brake pads & rotors (no charge for the brake job as they covered it under warranty). These new pads feel better in that they are a little more forgiving than the old ones but still stop the car on a dime without any break fade on hard driving. I have only good comments about the quality & dependibility of my G35 as well as the dealership.

My job requires me to fly 5 times a year and get rental cars at these locations. Many of the rental cars are brand new or have less than 10,000 miles on them. I normally rent mid-size to premium cars of all different makes & models. Experiencing all these other cars makes me truly appreciate the feel, acceleration, handling and ride of my G35. It's always a pleasure to get home & drive my car. To the Infiniti G35 engineers, Job Well Done!

Even after 20,000 miles the car is still tight. There are no rattles; windows, doors, seats, CD/Radio all work great. Suspension still feels firm, handling and accleration has not dropped off at all.

Strength:

Styling, power, fit and finish, easy to see everything on dash and steering wheel, and everything is easy access without groping around for it.

Weakness:

Could use a little more trunk room, but then again, Im not hauling things And as for the interior for passangers, I'm not " Kato" either.

This is the first luxury sports car I've owned. It is a pleasure to drive with plenty of power and great handling. I was also amazed how it handled in a torrential down pour on the turnpike. It handled like I was on a dry road. No skidding, slipping or trouble hydroplaning.
Styling is a head turner, but its the throaty exhaust that grabs the attention first.

Front brakes and tires had to be replaced at 24,000 miles

Speedy and a fun car to drive, not particularly quick off the line but really fast once it going and coners as if it's on rails. Front brakes pads tires had to be replaced at 24,000 miles. Getting 400 miles to a tank of petro which is about 21 MPG. (I wish I could get more but hell, it' a luxury sports car.) Biggest Plus is the styling. I still have people who will come up to me and admire the styling.

I bought this car as a replacement for my wife's '93 VW Corrado, which was a super fun car, albeit a bit quirky as it aged. The G35 coupe's stongest suit is it's looks. The car is gorgeous (although the 19 inch wheels could fill the fenders a bit better. It's relatively quick, handles well, has decent brakes and is comfortable. The road noise is fairly significant, but I guess that's what you get with that 40 series tires. The number of standard features for the money is also a strong point. We looked at the '06 BMW 330 (the coupes still aren't out, so we had to settle for an AT sedan), but we couldn't justify the extra cash, even with an overseas military discount.
Now for my biggest beef: the tranny. I haven't driven a car that shifts this poorly since the Chevy Chevette I drove in high school. For a car in the mid to high $30K range from a high end Japananese carmaker, I expected much more. Compare this to any Honda, Toyota or Mazda and it doesn't even come close in smoothness. Some may say it's because it's a "performance car"... my '89 Porsche 911 shifts better than this thing, so does our '93 Corrado, so did my old '84 Toyota Supra and '79 Celica I had in college. I'm surprised I don't see more negative reports on this. It is getting a little better as we break it in, but it should be much smoother right out of the box. But I digress... Based in Infiniti's reputation of late, I expect above average reliability and resale value.

Brakes & Tires

I bought my G35 coupe in April of 05. Beautiful car. I have it Black on Black. Turns heads everywhere. But I hate it! In less than a year I've had 4 brake problems. My brakes go bad in the front and sometimes in the back. My tires wear every 2-3 months. I'm lemon lawing the car and they sent an inspector out to see my car and he told me that my brake problem and my tire problem are due to the route I take to work, I laughed in his face. Infiniti is trying to play us. Not everyone has this problem but if you have a G35 from 03-04 and ones that were built in early 05 more than likely your having brake pad, rotor and tire problems. Not to mention that my problem is only on the front left brake for the past two times. I am so dissapointed with this car I will NEVER buy an Infiniti nor a Nissan again!

Accelaration, handling, braking, comfort, the "turning head factor",

Weakness:

The front driver side speaker sounds like its busted, the dealer checked it and found nothing wrong with it, they said it may be coming from a vibration. It still bothers me....so I just changed the stereo balance to hear the bulk of the music on the rear speakers and passenger side. I wish that I should've gotten it now with the Bose system.

I've had this car for almost a month now and I still look forward to getting home to drive it. I have a "company car" for work. At 1200 miles in less than a month, this car just makes you want to speed. I got it in pearl white with wheat leather. Only option I got was the spoiler, and I got the 2005 spoiler, the 2006 spoiler looks like the 350Zs' spoiler, in other words "boring!" Everything else is standard on this, 19" rims, 298 HP is basically all I wanted.

quality and bad customer service

I've only had this vehicle for 7 months and it has been in the shop over 20 days and counting. The oil consumption on this engine is comparable to that of a 2-stroke engine - one part oil to 20 of gas. The vehicle has gone through several oil consumption test, the valve covers have been replaced twice, the exhaust pipes are covered in black desposit and inifiniti won't acknowledge it as a lemon. This is not the kind of treatment that one would expect from a "luxury" dealership. Do your homework and research this car very carefully, if you do a quick web search you will find out I'm not this only one with this kind of problem.

Model Reviewed: G35 Coupe 5AT Sport

Strength:

- power and torque - fun! It's a wonderful feeling to just rip up the road on a beautiful day with the sun roof open. - there is nothing I can complain about with this car - I love it! - of the cars I have owned (see similar produces owned), it's by far the best.

Weakness:

- some tire rumble at low speeds - under 40 km. I checked the alignment and it's fine but there's slight feathering on the tires. Can't be helped on a car with high performance, undirectional, tires that are larger in rear (i.e. can't rotate the tires) - I'm getting about 19 MPG. Not great but as expected. - stereo is a bit muffled but not a major issue.

I wrote a review back on Aug 12 2004 when I test drove the 5AT. I then test drove the 6MT but settled on the 5AT - I figured I couldn't get any more perfomance (legally) out of 6MT than I would a 5AT and I commute to work soooo... what a car. I bought it used with 15,000 km and have put 6,000 km on her. This car is amazing. She pulls and pulls from any speed. I am often surprised on how fast this car can accelerate - you have to be thinking way in advance because things happen very fast! The 5AT is a very fast car- the shifting is smooth and quick - faster that I could probably manually shift. This car is a road hugger too - I let a friend test drive it and he took an exit ramp from a major highway (exit speed limit 40 km/hour) at 120 km/hour - no tire squeal or slip. I don't condone this kind of driving but I was amazed at how well it took the curve. There is definitely a mystique in owning a G35 - example: while driving along a major highway, I came across another G35 - we looked at each other and started laughing. From there, we ended up revving and passing and having a ball for at least 10 km - what blast. Kudos' to Ajax Nissan near Toronto on their excellent sales philosophy and service. The car was washed and detailed, oil changed and immaculate when I picked it up. They went over the top to please and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. They also gave me a very fair price.

I'm a 46 year-old male who has now owned my G35 Coupe for 11 months and 8,000 miles. I still look forward to driving this car everyday! Infinti has come out with an exceptional combination of style, speed, comfort and quality in a reasonably priced sports car. At my age, I don't receive too many compliments about my looks, but it sure is rewarding to hear wonderful compliments about my car.
