Strength:

Fit & finish; smooth, refined, powerful engine; great sound system; reliability

Weakness:

Less-than-great fuel economy

What a fantastic car! Fit & finish, design, engineering and quality were high priorities for the creators of this car. The I30t's road manners are great. I feel very in-touch with what's going on, whether on the highway or in town. Some seem to think the ride is harsh, but I disagree. It's tight, but compliant, and I have yet to encounter a situation where I thought the suspension was poorly tuned. The VQ engine is a refined jewel. It's smooth and quiet, but can dish out the power when asked. It does like the gas, though, so don't expect economy car mileage figures. I'm getting about 22 (combined) mpg. That equates to 300 miles per tank. The kicker is that it demands premium fuel. I think the exterior styling is pleasing. It's conservative, but contemporary, and has nice proportions. The Millenium Jade (dark green) on my car is truly breath-taking when freshly cleaned. The Bose sound system is awesome! Many seem to have problems with the quality of the sound, but I think it's great. The volume can be taken to levels that shake all your mirrors, if you so desire, and I cannot detect any distortion even at those levels. It has been a paradigm of reliability for the year I've owned it and I expect the trend to continue. Overall, the perfect car for my needs.

Strength:

Reliability and performance.

Weakness:

Noise and ride.

Outstanding reliablity. Somewhat stiff ride. Could use improvement in the area of passenger compartment noise isolation. Changed the Toyo tires and that game some improvement to the noise and ride, but not much. Still not as quite as my wife's Toyota Solara. Stong engine and smooth shifting transmission. Not much to complain about except the ride quality and road noice.

power, fit & finish, looks, service dept. loaner car when having oil changed was a new g35 coupe!

Weakness:

should have kept the dash storage that the 2001 I30 had. turning radis sucks!, and that damn "service the engine light" that comes on if the gas cap in not properly put on? drove from here to texas and filled up with gas 10 times and the damn light never went out. As I pulled into my drive way at home the light went out. I would have to say that the light is on 60% of the time. only high octane gas $$$$$$.

great car have had it for 22 months and nothing wrong yet...I hear they never break down. engine screams and rides nice but would have liked a little less window noise for 27k. Have had 5 adults in car and everone is comfortable

Strength:

Fit/finish, paint, peppy engine, styling, reliability. Smooth/quiet engine, transmission. Tight turning radius. Hold the unlock-button down on the keyfob and the windows go down!! Great for hot summer days. Dayton dealership treats even used-car buyers/owners like royalty. Free loaner even for oil changes, and my car is washed when I pick it up!!!!!

Weakness:

Near-luxury vehicle should've come with more bells/whistles like automatic headlamps, heated seats (newer I35's have all this now). Strange rattles, some roll on turns, unusual heater/ac controls.

Wonderful car! Quiet, fast pickup from lights and on the highway, and the Bose sound system rocks! Paint job is unbelievably hard as nails and looks a hundred feet deep when you peer into it. Classic styling differentiates the I30's from the new I35's that look like Camries/Impalas. Nothing ever goes seriously wrong with this car. Reliability is legendary with the I30 line and I'm experiencing it with this car. Annoying: headlights aren't automatic, strange muted rattle in the door and trunk, engine compartment guard under rf fender rattles at high speeds (service bulletin item).

Engine, comfort and finish are great. Stereo is awesome.

Weakness:

Did I mention the vibration problem?

Overall a very good car for the money. However, I have had a vibration problem since the day I bought it 20 months ago. Nissan/Infiniti has stated that this is a "characteristic" of the vehicle. I consider it a lemon. I've been told by customer service and 2 service managers that this is normal even though they have attempted 9 repairs to fix the problem. Avoid this vehicle unless you are not bothered by a vibration.

trans. shifts unoticable, for a v6 has all the accelaration u need, ride- never been more comfortable in a car, very decient factory sound system (bose), gas mileage is great, love the automatic headlights, quiet as can be- can't even hear the turn signals i have to look to make sure they are blinking. there's so many more to list, just test drive and find out for yourself.

Weakness:

the only thing i wish infinty would have added would be the anti-glare on the side mirrors.

i've had my i30 for over 2 months now and thrilled that i made the purchase. it is definatly a buyers market on used cars. it had 31,240 miles on when i got it, so for the price i talked them down was great. this has been the best car i've owned. the trans. shifts so seamlessly i never noticed, unless i look to see when it does. the interior is perfect, leather heated seats, very roomy, trunk space, 4 golf bags withroom to spare. just remember if you are looking at this car, it is for comfort and drivability, not speed and cornering, if you want that get a bmw. this is a car to sit back and relax on your drive. i've always wanted i bmw but after test driving the bmw 525 and the mercedes mdk i picked the i30 and would not change a thing. if someone says the infiniti's aren't real luxury cars remember the lexus is an overhyped camry. i'm a believer in the infiniti line now.

A rich feel, comfortable seats, and on the quite side.

Weakness:

Does not take bumps like the 2003 Honda Accord V6,not as quite as the Honda, not as good a radio as the Honda but has more room.

The Infinity I35 2002 is a very good car.I can only compare it to my 2003 Honda Accord V6 EX.The Infinity has a jittery ride,it does not absorb the road very well.It is not dead quite in the car.The sunroof began to open as you drove for no reason. It was fixed with a replacement switch by the dealer. When you turn very sharp, the front tires hit the body or something hard.It is a comfortable automobile and my wife enjoys it very much. When you compare it to the Honda V6,the honda is much more quite, has a much better absorbing bumb suspension, and a much better radio. The Honda is very tight in the front seats.I am 5ft8inches tall, average weight. There is very very little extra room especially to move your legs while driving.

Looks (my opinion), interior room, performance, value.

Weakness:

Outside mirrors should have auto-dim feature like rear-view mirror. Torque steer is very pronounced under full acceleration. Turning radius is worse that my Isuzu Trooper!

Great car. A nice combination of performance and luxury. The dealership service has been fair. While normal service is competently done, they have twice damaged dash trim parts during service so that I had to make return trips for the repair. Regardless that the repair was done at no cost, it's an inconvenience.

Strength:

Stereo! The engine is a sweetheart. The car is not a rocket ship, but it will leave most other sedans in the dust. Highly secure handling. Much luxury and many features for the price. You have to pay a LOT more money to get a better designed, built, and equipped car. You can pay a lot more money and NOT get a better car.

Weakness:

Who hid the cruise control button? The Bose stereo, which is awesome, has difficult and confusing controls. In general, the interior controls are much less intuitive than in my Camry. My I30t is a 1996 model, this may well have been addressed on the newer ones. These are nitpicks ... the car's strengths totally overwhelm its weaknesses.

Oh, my, what a nice car. Recently bought it used, 43,000 miles, paid close to full retail for a gorgeous example and it is well worth it. The ride can be harsh (well, duh, it's the touring model), where was a car like this when I was younger? There is a bit of road noise at highway speeds (well, duh, there are performance tires on the touring model), so turn up the Bose stereo! I have nitpicks -- the moonroof glass is not tinted and the roof itself seems too far back, some of the controls are awkward, the steering wheel seems thin, the trunk opening is not large (these are in comparison to my 1999 Camry), but the overall appearance, performance, comfort and appointments of this car make it a delight to drive. I can't imagine how good the new ones are. I also can't imagine a better value in a used car.
