Strength:

it feels solid and reliable in the highway. bose sound system is excellent. the sunshade is very helpful on sunny day drives while instrumentation is very clear during night driving.

Weakness:

this vehicle burns more gas than i expected. it still has that loud engine noise during sudden acceleration. the engine works hard during starts from stops. there's still a bit of road noise on certain roads (even after i installed brown bread in it). scratches and oil stains on vehicle side panels abound. the seats are not that supportive and now you can easily notice the crumpled leather, which shows its low-quality. occasional bumps on the road are noticeable. also, the car tends to oversteer during sharp turns.

this is my second review. i've had my i-30 for almost 3 years now, and logged in almost 40,000 miles of driving. twice i have to bring the vehicle to the dealer because of the "check engine" light on. the analog clock has now gone even darker (maybe the backlight has burned out). but the dealer failed to correct the problem. overall, the car has maintained its solidity and reliability on the highway. it still burned a bit more gas. the dvd navigation has to be re-set twice because the unit won't read the dvd software anymore. meanwhile, my service vehicle which is the i-35 is a very solid, quick and quiet vehicle. it also absorbs bumps and potholes quite handily, just like a big lincoln car. i'm sure future infiniti models will have more quality, fit and finish in them.

Weakness:

Does not live up to the "hype"

Good car, although the car does not truly live up to all it's advertising. The Satalite system is not available even though the car has a SAT button the factory did not "wire" all the cars for the SAT system. The Q45 looks good but the service, follow through and complete manufacturing still appears to be Nissan... Looks good for the price compared to competitors but all those bells and whistles either don't work properly, are not truly available or are lesser imatiations. OK car but for the price your better off with an Acura.

Strength:

Big value for the money. Because of torque, lost control of the vehicle on highway. Think that the soundness of the suspension prevented vehicle from rolling over. Vehicle spun back and forth seven times. Still alive. Cracked the front brake pad during incident. Speed was not excessive but road surface slippery. Traction control was active.

Weakness:

Have grinding and grabbing sound from front brakes that neither dealer nor private mechanic have been able to fix. Pads were replaced and sound is worse than before. Tire noise very high on poor quality replacements.

Fine looking machine. Super clean engine that takes a while to kick into action...once it does it makes a sound as if afterburners are discovered. Especially if all windows are down.

Strength:

Great handling, accelation(feels like a sport car), beautiful comfortable interior. Highway driving is real nice expecially on long trips. She is fun to run the curves in some areas of the U.S. For me very low maintainance. This is a well disigned reliable automobile. The U. S. manuafacturers could learn something from a car like this. When I sell this car, I will definitely buy another Q45.

Weakness:

Only weakness I know of is that the value does not hold well on this car. I have not ideas why not. Since I buy pre-owned cars all of my life, I don't think there is a better bargain out there when buying a proowned luxury car.

I bought a lease retun for my wife. It had 16,000 miles on it and 2 years old. I have owned Mercedes 300SEL for 15 years and the 500 SEL for 3 years. The Q45 is one of the least problamatic cars I have owned. Change the oil regularly and regualr maintainance. It is a powerful and comfortable riding car. Even the cars has very little book value at this time, the car is still like brand new. Good Paint, Great interior, Great sound and great looking. I have the Dark Grren with Beige interior. For a car that is almost 10 years old, I think she might have at least another 5 years in her.

I have owned the 380SEL, 500SEL, and the lexus 470. The 380 was a fine car and lasted a long time. The 500 SEL was a peice of junk. Too modern without any reliability. I sold that and bout the Lexus 4

340 HP 4.5l Engine Gas mileage is excellent for the car 17city and 25 Highway The transmission is the best i have seen even in the BMW No i-Drive to deal with BEST FIT&FINISH I HAVE seen...benz extremely lacks in this department. The headlamps are to-die-for The voice recognition/DVD NAVIGATION adapts to your voice. No matter the accent, it will adapt to your voice, and functions most easilty when your voice is heard Rear seats recline and are heated. Front seats are heated and cooled VALUE VALUE VALUE! I am really sorry to say that people are not willing, or not aware of the INFINITI Q45 enough to buy one, but this should change...SPREAD THE WORD! BEST INTERIOR I HAVE SEEN OUT OF ANY SINGLE CAR OUT THERE! ABSOLUTELY GORGOUS

Weakness:

Stlye to some, although i love it Resale value, but this car shouldnt even be sold, just savoured forever! hehe

I think the styling/interior/overall value and quality of the new INFINITI Q45 is best out of EVERYTHING. Fully and absolutely loaded with climate control front/rear seats...navigation, rear camera, rear power reclining, rear air condition, voice recognition system, intelligent cruise control, all the works, the car comes out to a little above $60,000. With this in mind, every single car out there with these type of options, including the LS430, S430, 745il are all much more more expensive than the Q and offer almost the same features. With the exception of the BMW, the Q45 is a faster car than all of them, and ties with the BMW. The Q45 has a larger engine and more hp than any car. Benz and BMW are expensive because the consumers pay for the name of the car. Although i agree that the LS is a good car, it is extremely bland and WWAAAYY too conservative. Nothing like the 7 lense, most powerful headlamps in the world that are on the Q, or the electronically controlled key, or voice command, or even a rear CAMERA...nothing compares, at all!

Strength:

Precision build quality, materials, performance and superior handling for such a large car. Cruising is this car's forté. Few cars perform passing manoeuvres on the highway with such alacrity.

Weakness:

Not particularly space efficient, not a lot of gee whiz gizmos. Brakes are not sized for high speed performance, and more tires on larger rims will aid handling performance, assuming suspension components are maintained. The a model can be very expensive to maintain because of its sophisticated active suspension. Great resource at www.nissaninfiniticlub.net

These cars are great luxury cars, but as such must be proactively maintained. The cost of repairs is not dicounted like the purchase price on accelrated depreciation. The most important thing is to learn the maintainence history, and realize that factory maintainence schedules are the minimum for the car to last through the factory warranty period only. This is true of all cars, and to realize the the extended life available from precison built cars like the Q, one must be proactive in maintaining them. Luxury cars should not be purhcased with financing and no cash reserve for updating the deferred maintainence. If one can't afford to pay cash with a sufficient cash reserve to maintain it, one shouldn't buy the car. These are $50K+ cars and require a commensurate level of care.

Similar Products Used:

MB's in particular are way more expensive, as are BMWs, which are nice drivers. Only Lexus have the same build quality, better brakes (on later 1998+ models), but cost more to maintain.

Strength:

Ride, Comfort, Quiteness and awesome power. I love it when a 16 year old pulls up next to me and wants to challenge the old man. I just leave the youngster eating my dust.

Weakness:

Plenty. Traaansmission was replaced at 98 thousand, and 113,000 miles. At 113,000 miles, the rebuilt transmission was 100 miles out of warranty and Infinity tried to stick me with the entire cost. Only after screaming lawyer, did they consent to replace it at a much reduced rate. I no longer use dealer service as they are far too expensive and look to "create" extra work..

I have driven MB 300D, Lexus LS400, Audi, BMW and Cadillac. Of them all despite some major problems, I like my Q for its ride and handeling. I had to detune it as it was far too fast for an older driver.

Strength:

Great car, owned it for just over five years without much trouble, just a few little annoying things her and there.

Weakness:

You guessed it, resale value is awful.

No longer own car. Great car, but resale value was non- existant. Only worth $15K when we traded it in on a new Lexus RX 300, with only 66K miles on it. Our car was in impeccable condition when we traded it in. Unless you want to get hit HARD by depreciation, don't buy a new Infinity Q45. Your much better off buying a used Q45 as far as value is concerned, especially one that is three years old or older.

Now drive a Lexus RX 300, which too is a great vehicle, but holds has MUCH better resale value after three to five years.

Weakness:

Infiniti not fulfilling promises West Houston Infiniti dealership not responding

I'm wondering how other Infiniti owners have handled the following situation(letter was sent to the Vice President for the Infiniti division - I'll fit as much as I can on this page): Dear Mr. McNabb: I am writing to you in hopes that you can find some solution to a serious issue with my almost-15 month old 2002 Infiniti Q45. My 2002 Q45's problem is the lack of a promised integrated cellular telephone that Infiniti was marketing as an available Q45 upgrade for over a year and was included as a "we owe" provision in my purchase contract. As I'm sure you know, the integrated telephone was supposed work with the 2002 Q45's voice recognition system and built-in LCD monitor. Mr. ZZZZZZ, of the Infiniti Division, had been working with me on this issue since May 2002 until he left his present position. I have to say how impressed I was with Mr. ZZZZZZ and his attempts to handle this situation, even if all the attempts were unsuccessful. He is certainly a credit to Nissan North America. I am now working Ms. YYYYYY who seems very willing to help. Unfortunately, no one has yet come up with any solution that is acceptable to the Infiniti Division and my dealer, West Houston Infiniti. My recollection is that I'm the only one, so far, to offer any suggestions about how to solve this problem. When I purchased the 2002 Q45 I had every intention of buying the integrated telephone since I had previously owned a car with an integrated telephone. The 2002 Q45 met all of my specifications for a new car once I was told that the integrated telephone could be added later. Therefore I was one of your early purchasers of the "new Q". I am regretting that decision more and more with each day. When Infiniti Division decided to withdraw the 2002 Q45's integrated telephone before it was released, Mr. ZZZZZZ and I began to discuss ways to solve my contractual problem. As I mentioned earlier, I had a written promise of an integrated telephone. We came up with many ideas on how to provide an integrated telephone solution for the 2002 Q45 or an equivalent "value add" to my present Q45. All of those solutions were either not technically possible or rejected by Infiniti/Nissan engineering. In the end, Mr. ZZZZZZ was unable to come up with any concrete offer concerning my present 2002 Q45. The only solution any of us could come up with was to have me purchas

Strength:

Powerful engine, quiet interior, easy to operate controls and O.K.styling.

Weakness:

You had better purchase the extended warranty because repairs are expensive. Dumb place to put a cup holder( inside the armrest ). The trunk is quite small for this size vehicle, the Lexus also had a small trunk for it to be the largest vehicle the company made. Transmission does not shift smoothly, it's kind of jerky.Could use more rear seat leg room. It does drink a lot of gas but you expect that with a V-8 and heavy car.

I've had this vehicle for a little more than one year and it's been to the dealer 3 times for the power steering. When it is warm you need two hands to park the car. It is just that hard to turn. The dealer claims that they replaced the pump, rack&pinnion and other parts but the problem still exist.I have 4 vehicles so I have only put 5,ooo miles on this car in a year. I am finding it hard to believe that my vehicle is the only one with this problem. Perhaps the dealer ( Ramsey Infiniti ) knows less than I do about this vehicle. The front brakes seem to make a lot of noise at times. The dealer has had the vehicle in several times for that problem as well with no satisfaction on my part. The humming /whinning noise that I was hearing from the rear was the fuel pump,it has been replaced. On the other hand the car has been O.K. The power is great, the styling is so-so, it handles well and is quiet most of the time. Not as quiet as my Lexus LS-400 was.
