Strength:

POWER, build quality, infiniti service is top notch

Weakness:

apparently fuel injector problems above 100K miles is not uncommon. To fix the problem correctly (have all 8 injectors replaced)it's $2000. Still, since depreciation on this car is so high, you can buy it for a song and maintain it for much less than a Lexus (which is a boring car)

THIS CAR IS GREAT with a few exceptions: expensive to maintain, brakes wear quickly (because it's fast and heavy) and I just experienced fuel injector problems (@ 115,000 miles). Car handles well and is FAST! Interior wears well (bought with 45K miles over 3 years ago and now have 120K)and BOSE system is very good. Traction control is a MUST --- if you have any snow you either need traction control or snow tires as the power in this thing is too much for the slick pavement.

gas mileage, no cup holders, loses value quickly (but thats good if you''re looking for a good value buy)

This car is a very good car. The exterior looks quite contemporary even though I like it better with the front grille. There is a lot of power, you could practically outpace many cars on the road. It starts on 2nd gear because it''s a heavy, well built car. The fuel economy is 17/22, leaving much to be desired, but it is a 278hp, 4.5 L V8 monster. Hear it roar.. actually its more of a nice purr. My uncle is giving the car to me as I go to college, and I am only 17, and this is my first car. Yes, a $60,000 car that has no depreciated to under $4,000 that is my first car... a beautiful dark marroon with tan interior leather, wood accents. Very nice. He has told me its been pretty reliable for him, and I hope its the same to me. I drove it for the first time by myself on some long empty roads and the freeway, and the power is very good. Acceleration could be better, but it is a heavy car. I would recommend this car because its a steal at less than $5,000. Most of you will find out that it loses value very very rapidly. Wish me luck with this car, I hope I will have enough money for gas.

Seriously flawed front suspension with metal on metal grinding at freeway speeds. No accountability on the part of Infiniti.

A pleasant appearing luxury sedan which is seriously flawed.

Strength:

Power, Handling, Styling, "Creature" comforts, Did I mention the Power nad handling??

Weakness:

Needed a wider footprint, and to reinforce the front suspension. Brakes go every 6 months, (Have to admit I think it''s my foot)

I have to say this is ABSOLUTELY the BEST Car I have ever owned! Purchased it with 42K miles and now 4 years later it has just turned 145k and STILL running Strong. This car was the one of the last of the 4.5L before the "downsize" to 4.1. It has more than enough midrange and topend power to keep me happy. In cornering it feels like it''s "on a rail." The Bose sound system will make you believe you''re at the concert - front row. I have liked the styling from the moment I first saw this car. What could have made it better? A little lower gearing to improve the bottom end performance. Some wider tires to help traction and cornering. I replaced the tires with Michelin Pilots P235 60R 15. That did the trick! I added a Stillen Strut Bar Brace to "tie" the front end together. BOY does it handle now! Why didn''t the engineers think of this? Then of course there is the Stillen Air intake with K & N Filter and a "Cat back" Flowmaster System. This has really helped to uncork the available power. But close the windows, turn on the air conditioning, crank up the Bose sound system and cruise anywhere you want to go. This car will take you there AND back in comfort. Heated seats, power lumbar support, antiglare rearview mirror. Always dependable, be sure to keep it fed. It does drink gas, (but I have a heavy foot too!) Brakes wear quickly and need to replaced 2x a year (Pads and Rotors) but not every car can stop from 100+ MPH in such a short distance. I have found this car to be a pleasure to own with minimal repairs. Heck, I used to own a 300+ HP Chevys in the 60 & 70''s and could never get more than 50k miles out of an engine. My only question is whether I will drop an engine in this car if it finally wears out, or buy a used 2002 Q... I''m not crazy about the new front end on the 2002....hmmmmm

The car as alot of power but doesnt kick in until about 3,000 rpm''s, bu the car has a 4 speed automatic transmission that is exceptionally fun to drive and have fun with. at 278hp stock i have a K&N ar cleaner and thats it but iam planing to get the chip for it that alows it to go past the redline in any gear to 7500 rpm an i am getting a flowmaster high pro exhaust installed. which will hel to add to my performance. p.s any questions or if uwanna talk about your infiniti email me at BLAZENE44@AOL.COM or instant message me at blazene44 thanks

Weakness:

really has no weaknesess but the only thing is some engine maitnaince thing do get costly but that is the cost of fun and performance.

Iam only 16 i know cars better then anything else and this car is fst it is mine, i drie this Infiniti everyda. THis car has great lines and awesome prformance i have never lost a race in mycar it has 137,000 miles on itand still runnng very smooth and strong i have gone 148 mph in the car with more pedal to go i believe it wil go the 160 mph speedometer. The car handels well at high speeds and is the fastest car at about 4,500 lbs i have ever seen for a 4 door sedan luxury having more hp then the competitors. I change the oil regualarily and hav had the car checked yearly for diagnostics but they say the car is doing fine and surely i wil own this car until the engine quits running. This car i believe will go for 300,000 miles if maintained by the owner.

Expensive Maintenance and Parts Necessary to Find Mechanic Familiar with Car No Cup Holder (I Installed My Own) No Manual Transmission Overall Drive Ratio too High (2000rpm/mile) Slow Downshift Program Necessitates Use of Drive Selector to Shift Occasionally Requires Premium Gasoline Wears Out Suspension Components, Tires, and Brake Components Like a Performance Vehicle

I recommend this car to anyone who appreciates a driver''s car. Although you will get a good deal on it''s initial purchase price, be prepared to spend $2000 annually plus another $2000 in the first year to get the car in good condition and avoid future devastating repair bills. Try to find one that has the updated chain guides (for 1990-93 models) and an under 40k second (or third) transmission. These are critical and are by far the biggest problems you will have with this car. I have made the following modifications and highly recommend them to any Q owner: 1.) Installed a transmission cooler and bypassed the radiator altogether and flushed with synthetic (Mobile 1) ATF. 2.) Installed a 20mm (from an active model Q) rear stabilizer bar to reduce the body roll and make the suspension feel more neutral (being careful in the rain, of course). 3.) Installed a Jim Wolf Technologies transmission control unit (TCU-hi-shift) so the car starts in first and holds each gear slightly longer. I spend about $2000/year to keep it in 95% new condition. This car, unlike any other I have owned, responds noticeably well to maintenance and will hurt your wallet if you neglect it. Oil must be changed (even if using synthetic) every 3500 miles because the relatively small oil filter reaches its capacity and is no longer functioning if allowed to go to 5000 miles between changes (just look at the oil when you fill up, and you''ll know when it''s time to change it). This car feels extremely safe and stable even at high speeds, has excellent cornering and maneuverability, and, considering its weight, has quite respectable acceleration. It is quiet, and at least the front seats are roomy. The back is only as roomy as most midsize sedans, and the trunk is smaller than that of a Honda Accord. The exhaust is very quiet, but, as is the case with most Nissans, the induction system seems a bit noisy for a luxury car. With 155,000 miles, it loses no measurable amount of oil between changes. I have owned new cars that lose a quart between changes. Expect to replace the crankcase and valve cover seals, as well as all of the hoses since these are item that deteriorate with age. Although the car is twice as expensive as a regular Japanese car to maintain, it is still about half as expensive as a European car to keep up. Also, unlike European cars, the parts are easy to get, al

Ride and finish of the car is exceptional, I had compared it with a X1997 BXW 7 serise, and found the Q can easily outsed the 7 in ride quality, the keyword is smooth, unbelievibly smooth. I had a lexus 300 coupe back in 1991 in the States. I remembered the lexus was smooth when the road condition is good, on courase road, it began to show its weaknesses

Weakness:

Too early to tell, I heard the pull bars for the front tires require replacing frequently, I got mine replaced for about US 250. Anyone shares same condition ?

I acquired this car with 30.000 miles on it. This car is not popular in the used car market because of the size of the engine leading to huge consumption of gasoline. Gasoline price here is 4-5 times in US. However, becasue of the presigue, I do not think I would pay full price for this car, I rather have a MB coupe.

Power, Power, Power! Smooth ride. Was very reliable until 120000 miles.

Weakness:

Super unleaded gas which is very expensive. Not great gas milage but I would trade off for the power.

I bought this car used in 1995. It had 40,000 miles on the odometer. It was a great car from 40,000 to 120,000 miles. Tuneups were expensive 1000.00 at 30,000 mile intervals but other thatn tht the car ran like a top. Since 120,000 I have had 3 1000.00 repair bills in a row. I still think it is a great car but as it gets older it is expensive to maintain. The parts are a killer.

Never had a similar product. I drove mostly sports cars Mazda RX7,Nissan 300zx, Toyota Supra, until the kids got big and I had to get a sedan.
