Strength:

POWER,POWER,POWER I''ve owned mustangs, camaros and alot of other fast cars, but my Q45 is the fastest by far

Weakness:

I think there are weeknesses in every vehicle, first lets start with the bose audio system. I''m sure it sounded great new but when they get old forget it. You get alot of buzzing ang ringing through the stereo. The radio has no power so all the speakers have amps. The best thing to do is change all of this. Secondly the stock wheels are grossly to small. I upgraded my to 17''

This is the perfect car. It is very refined, comfortable and fast. Last week I raced a friend who owned a V-tec prelude with all the options. I killed him, he never had a chance. This is the first luxury car I''ve owned and I''m very pleased. When I was looking for this car my other choice was the Lexus sc400. I think I made the correct decision.

Strength:

Luxurious. Fast. Plush. Great car to drive.

Weakness:

One of the biggest pieces of mechanical garbage I have ever owned. Had to replace air conditioner compressor after several years of ownership. Transmission failed at 110,000 miles. Engine check light problems constantly. All in all, a poorly manufactured and an unreliable car. Would not buy another.

Definitely the nicest car we have ever owned. Was luxurious and sporty. Loved to drive it. Rode well and was quiet. Great acceleration. On the other hand, it was not very reliable. Transmission went our prematurely. Problems with airconditioner at an early point in time. Miscellaneous engine problems. Not impressed with the reliability of this car.

Strength:

Powerful, great audio system and comfortable.

Weakness:

Takes the cream of the crop in gas...premium...hey Im only 19.

I just want to start out by saying that the infiniti q45 is my parents car. I borrowed it when they went on vacation a week ago and I have to admit that this car has plenty of power to it compared to our jag. I still have a little difficulty in using the voice recog. thing but otherwise this is an awesome car...also an eye catcher which also comes in handy when cruising 4 girls. Plus the paint doesnt chip/damage easily or else I would have been in major trouble for some bozo "keying" my parents car.

Strength:

The Q-45 has alot to keep in mind this is a luxury car that is highly praised for performance and not very often do you see these work's of art on the road. Im only 19 years old and feel like a million bucks in this car i get alot of compliments and looks as people never really seen one before so if you like being different the 45 is for you but dont go buy one because i want to be the only 19 year old in a $50.000 new Q-45. no car can touch it (the price performance and the substantual looks)

Weakness:

Besides heavy gas usage and high prices on gas i rate my Q45 as a 9 (could have left the horsepower and engine liter alone)

I have had wonderful experience's from infiniti i owned an older Q45 previous to my new one and it sold me to buy another i will always be infiniti's *youngest loyal owner *(HOPEFULLY YOUNGEST)

Strength:

Lots of power. Very quiet interior at all speeds. Good Bose stereo (after the rear amps were replaced via recall) Reliable.

Weakness:

Expensive to repair. Rear amps on the Bose speakers will eventually go out but can be replaced via recall. Mine has a strange problem at high RPM when it's warm. It hesitates and misfires when I "open it up" after the engine gets warmed up. Not sure if it's the injector problem which some people talk about or the timing belt. Mine has 121,000 miles and the engine seems VERY strong despite my strange high RPM problem.

A very good well built car but after reading the other reviews and talking with other people, I would get a 1994 or newer.

AWESOME POWER, SMOOTH RIDE, GREAT INTERIOR, POWER-EVERYTHING, GREAT BOSE STEREO, ACCELERATION UNDER 7 SECS, PLENTY OF ROOM INSIDE, NICE SEATS. THIS CAR CAN BE OBTAINED USED FOR A GERAT PRICE. BRAND NEW THEY ARE EXPENSIVE.

Weakness:

IT CAN BE VERY COSTLY TO FIX, DEALER VISITS ARE VERY COSTLY AND PARTS/LABOR ADD UP VERY QUICKLY IF YOU RUN INTO PROBLEMS WITH IT. I HAVE HAD SOME VISITS TO THE DEALER (OXYGEN SENSORS TOTAL= $1500, FUEL PUMP ABOUT $400, FUEL PUMP MODULATOR $750...) BUT WHEN THE CAR WORKS IT SO GOOD. I BOUGHT MINE USED SO I AM NOT 100% SURE THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF IT. MY CAR HAS 110k MILES NOW. BOUGHT IT WITH 102k ABOUT A YEAR AGO.

I RECOMMEND IT IF YOU CAN FIND A USED ONE. THEY DEPPRECIATE A LOT IN PRICE AND THAT IS GOOD IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR A USED INFINITI. YOU WILL NOT FIND A CAR WITH MORE POWER AND LUXURY FOR THE SAME PRICE. PICK-UP /ACCELERATION ARE AWESOME AND THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE UNLIMITED AVAILABLE POWER RESERVE. IT HAS AN AWESOME V-8 WITH CLOSE TO 280 HORSES. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO USE PREMIUM GASOLINE (CAN BE COSTLY, ALMOST $2 IN N.Y. THESE DAYS). THE BOSE STEREO WITH ITS 4 APMLIFIES SPEAKERS IS EXCELLENT TOO, GREAT POWER, NO NEED FOR UPGRADES.

Model Reviewed: New Q45 Test Drive

Strength:

Engine/drivetrain, choice of 18 inch wheels, safety curtains along with side air bags. Many strengths.

Weakness:

2 second delay in up/downshirt while operating in the manual mode.

Hi everybody,

I am very thankful to Frontier Infiniti, Santa Clara ( California ) to have a '02 Q45 for just 2 days so that interested people can test-drive. I got my appointment for today afternoon for half an hour. My wife and myself jumped at the opportunity and drove our 97.5 Q45 into their parking lot. The new Q was having a way too cool shade ( Royal Cabernet exterior, black interior, smoke real wood trims ). 18 inch wheels and sport suspension. Both of us reached out to the driver's seat :-). Anyways, I got behind the wheel first ( She understood my agony if I was to be left at the passenger seat first ! ). The feel was very different from the 97 Q I have. The steering wheel has a tighter feel. Rolling out of the parking lot without using the "drive by wire" electronic throttle, I was dying to push the pedal to the floor. On th road and the first thing I did was get onto the gas and change to middle lane. In a whisker, I was at 45MPH. While accelerating, the was a very confident but faint noise from the hood, which made me feel as if the engine is saying,"Come on! I am just warming up!". The springs are certainly much tighter than the ones on my car. At the same time, there was no way I could feel more road noise from these 18 inch Z rated tires. That was a very good news for me. I want sport feel without making the cabin any more noisy. At 75 mps, it was only 2250RPM on the tachometer ( mine touches 2500RPM for the same speed ).This certainly was making the drive much smoother at cruising speeds. I stepped on the gas for a second and the response was so quick, I instantly passed the lexus which was trying to catch up on the other lane. As there were no racing roads for me to try things a little differently, but with what
I had ( CA highways and entries & exits ), the ride was very smooth, no
harshness despite the sport suspension but a very composed and tight
cornering as well. I think from the power and performance point of view, this new Q can easily beat the 740,LS430 and S430, may be even S500. Along with the base model , there are two choices, sport package & the premium package. If you add the premium package with sport package, you get almost all the luxury features you can get with LS430 loaded with performance 18 inch wheels . The price could get around 63K with all the features I guess. I couldn't test the DVD navigation/sound system properly as they hadn't figured out the hi-fi system themselves as the car arrived only today morning.

Now, about the auto-manual gear change system:
The response was obvious when you drive in the manual mode. From 3rd ,
downshift to 2nd and reach for the gas, the punishing sudden power is so
pleasing. Even my wife, who is usually a very cautious driver, was thrilled at the abundant power and tried to speed at corners and in the freeway :-). But the only thing I didn't like about this manual mode is, it takes almost 2 seconds before your downshift/upshift action actually takes effect. I have tried other cars with this option, but the Q takes a little longer. I suppose once you get used to this delay, you can use the manual to great use to cut through the 4.6L MUSTANGs and company.

I just hope the frontal offset crash tests show a green flag with GOOD rating , and I would have no other argument against buying this amazingly pleasing car.

Model Reviewed: Infiniti Q45

Strength:

Extremely strong performance, smooth engine, good reliability, luxury/performance combination

Weakness:

Tiny rear seat, no wood trim or grille

The 1991 Infiniti Q45 is a stupendous automobile. It offers commanding performance from a 278 hp V8, top-notch quality, and surprising reliability. There's nothing better than revving that 4.5 L V8 to the limit. It's smooth, quiet, and VERY fast. 0-60 is clocked at about 7.1 seconds. There have been minimal problems with my our Q45, the only problem was the power steering pulley, thats it! The problems with this car? Well, the rear seat is VERY cramped, especially for a car of this class and size. Also, there is no wood trim in the interior of this car, which is usually customary on large luxury sedans. Other than that, its an absolutely marvelous car.

Before buying this car, we test-drove a 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL with high-aspirations. From the outside, the car looked great. Then you step inside. The leather seats are so springy that you bounce over bumps, and the interior is very teutonic and cold. The ride on this car was horrific. There were so many rattles and creaks in this car that it muffled out the engine noise. Maybe this car was accidented, but if that's what used Mercedes drive like, then i'll stick with Lexus/Infiniti

Power, quiet ride, power and more power.

Weakness:

no cup holders :(

Hi, this is an update from my last posting. I had a problem at high RPM's and thought it was injectors or someting. It turns out that my "cam angle sensor" ($450) needed to be replaced. After that was fixed, the car runs like new and will wind up to 6500 RPM no problem. I just replaced the ugly original rims with some cool 5 spoke rims and the car looks 100% better! Email me and I will send you a pic of my '91 Q45 The next thing I want to do is a slight custom exhaust to give this V8 some sound. I sure would like to drive a new 2002 Q45 as they seem AWSOME!

340 HP!!! 0 to 60 in 5.8 Seconds!!!! Blond wood on leather. Voice recognition on the navigation system, climate control, & 300 watt Bose!

Weakness:

It doesn't have wings!

The 3rd generation 2002 Q45 is light years ahead of it's time. 340 HP!!! Drive it and you won't be disappointed. Put the car in reverse and the rear camera will guide you. Put the active suspension on sport and the 245 45 18's tires on alloy wheels with glide you through the next haipin. I drove the Lexus LS 430 heavy on luxury not on sportiness. This car will bring Infiniti to the head of the class in the Premium Luxury category!
The German's (BMW & Mercedes) will be amazed on how Infiniti is able to provide so much cutting edge technology, luxury and performance in a package and price that not only rivals but exceeds.
