Strength:

finish of duco, low road noise, appointments and night lighting

Weakness:

has a dangerous flat spot when accelerating and turning. Mercedes feel it may be the Airconditioning control module however they have replaced same and this has not fixed the problem.

Solid vehicles with well appointed finishes. Light colour interior not very servicable.

Strength:

Performance (0-60 in 6.9) is excellent for an automatic, sound system is superb(Bose 10 speakers), dual climate control, handling, looks, snob appeal, head turner!

Weakness:

No in-dash cd player, which requires purchasing an expensive cd changer, should have cheaper options, expensive overall....but that's why few own a Benz.

This is truly a great car! I researched and test drove all comparables, and this is truly the best (and most expensive). BMW is too common and plain in comparison. This Benz is not in the near-luxury class, but in the luxury class. Looks like a smaller S Class, same engine as E class, and refined, luxurious, and sporty. Real head turner and snob appeal!Great product from a great company. Once you go MB, you never go back!!

Similar Products Used:

BMW 3 series...too common, slower, not as luxurious, same handling, unimpressive in comparison
BMW 5 series...slower, too expensive, not a good value
Lexus ES 300...nice car but not sporty or as fast
Mercedes E320...nice car, but boring and model changes in '03, more expensive, and a little slower with the same engine

too many to list

The worst car I have had in over 35 years of motoring was a 1995 Mercedes-Benz (Merc)C280 with all the bells & whistles. It cost me £36,000 which equated then to $54,000!! Yes in the UK cars are a lot dearer. The dealers though, judging by some of the reports here, are just as bad as in the US.

When I collected the car it had loud speakers missing from the door trim ( found later in the trunk) scratches where the aerial had been fitted - because in 1995 a radio was a cost option on a Merc! and at $750 dollars for a basic radio was a rip-off. Other defects abounded. The driving experience was dull - overall then a poor buy. I've since found Lexus and have no complaints. Long live Toyota! I hear that the build quality of the latest Mercs is questionable - UK cars are built in a Merc factory in South Africa ( they also drive on the left hand side of the road ) so maybe US cars are built in Germany still? - which beggars the question "why are there so many complaints about the inferior build quality of these cars?"

Winston Churchill said affectionately of GI's in England during WWII " They're over-paid, over-sexed and over-here" I could paraphrase that and say - the three pointed star is over-rated, over-priced and every-where!

Strength:

great engine, great transmission, great hardware overall.

Weakness:

cluster, tach is so small and resembles chevy astro vans.
must confess i miss previous models fit&finish, leather quality.

there are two types of cars: Mercedes and others.
what is so special about mercedes wannabe lexus?
it's just a factory upgraded toyota with a 20k extra price tag.
they just copy Mercedes design and instead of spending money and energy in that field, they make them more reliable but not rebuildable.
you can still see 1960s, '70s mercedes cars around, but who thinks they'll see 30-40 year old lexus cars? none.

Strength:

Sturdy, great at fast speeds, comfortable to drive & reasonably sporty, looks

Weakness:

Dealer, everything costs alot for repairs/parts, doesn't live up to perceived Mercedes image

This is my first Mercedes, and will probably be my last. While a fabulous car in many ways, owning it has been a "high maintenance" experience from just about every standpoint. I was expecting a higher level of dealer service, and thought an MB dealer would be better about just "taking care" of problems. Don't be blinded by the "image of a Mercedes" if you choose this car.

Strength:

Very reliable, solid, safe, luxurious, excellent gas mileage, the controls and features are user-friendly, service is great, spacious trunk, excellent Bose sound system, and very rich.

Weakness:

Needs to have a supercharged 4 cylinder engine for the weight of the car because it is underpowered when going uphills or merging on the freeway because I have to accelerate a little harder which is no big deal, The rear doorways are crammed and narrowed for passengers to get out, but I do most of the driving and is not a big deal, The cassette box console cassette holder broke because it's plastic, but I don't care, The tape deck door on my radio broke, but the tapedeck still works and I still use it the main issue is little plastic parts are not strong enough, Anyways I love my car and it still looks great.

When I first bought my black Mercedes-Benz C220 from the showroom and drove it out with this new car smell, I fell in love with it. The car gave me no problems so far. I have put 87,000 miles on it and it still gave me no problems. My black C220 still looks like a new car, because I kept it detailed every week, and I perform a regular scheduled maintenance service without missing any. I do my oil change lubrication every 4,000 miles eventhough it tell me to do it at 7,500 miles. I take this Mercedes-Benz to Smythe European Authorized Mercedes dealer everytime I am due in for a service, they treat me very well. I have all the service records including invoices in my maintenace book stamped. Overall rating I give my Mercedes an excellent rating and I will be a Mercedes-Benz customer for life.

Strength:

Paint quality, rear window shade, Teleaid system, integrated phone, cup holder, performance, handling, braking, acceleration.

Weakness:

Electronic key has problems sychronizing with the car. Had to have the key and key module replaced. When the key goes bad, because the ignition and all componentry is entirely electronic and controlled by the key, you can't lock the doors, activate windows, etc. This problem has since been repaired, but within the 8 months that I've owned it, I've had to take it back to the dealership about 7 times to have them repair little electronic bugs.

It's a very nice car. It's sporty, quick, light, roomy, and has that wonderful star on the front hood.
