Strength:
super fast motor, solid body, prestige value for averag priced vehicle. Good resale value, good service
Weakness:
back space too tight, front saets should be from VOLVO, stereo just average. Nice car, very fast with Kompressor engine, seats could be better as not too comfortable, stereo is average, reliability is high, Traction control along with snow tires make it an acceptable winter car. space in back a tad tight. C230 Coupe Kompressor
Strength:
An affordable hatchback from Mercedes — what a concept! Powerful supercharged engine. Crisp handling, decent ride. Outstanding standard safety features, including ABS, stability control, side air bags and air curtains. Dual-zone climate control. Cool panoramic sunroof. Great warranty. Rear wheel drive.
Weakness:
No standard CD player. Expensive automatic transmission ($1,300). Complicated climate controls. Split rear window obscures vision a little. Wide center console cuts down on knee room, but is classy looking. This car is simply fabulous! 0 - 60 in 7.7 seconds. Not bad for a 4 cylinder. Anyone who reviewed this car and whined about anything wrong is because they were too cheap to pay the money for the extras! Mercedes name Free Services Solid ride good safety equipment Mercedes name
Weakness:
Engine sounds tinny Build quality bad standard sound system really sucks Engine races on kickdown (autobox) Rear visibility bad (Really sucks in the rain) Did I say the standard sound system sucks? Seats are uncomfortable when sitting for long periods of time. Accesories are expensive (779 for cd player and bracket before installation, $176 dollars for child booster seat ) Wind noise from sun roof Good value for a Mercedes. Compromises are however apparent and annoying.Handles well and has suffcient power. Feels good to drive. Some quality problems from outset and predelivery service was not well dome at all. All in all I would not buy this car again and would have sprung the extra bucks for a c240 or c 320 Similar Products Used: BMW 3 series, Volvo s60, Audi 1.8T |

C230 Kompressor Coupe
Strength:
Traditional MB quality: solid and predictable handling. Traction control systems have saved my butt in the snow. Hatchback and lowered rear seats make the car more practical than a sedan. Great styling. Has everything I appreciate from the E-class--from electronics to safety. Don''t feel as though I compromised on active or passive safety.
Weakness:
Sunroof wind noise. Engine noise noticeable (probably a "design choice") I love driving this car. This is my 4th MB and this is the one I enjoy driving the most. It''s fast, rev''s nicely, has 95% of the amenities of my wife''s E320--which costs almost 2X--and has a better feel in the suspension and steering. Sport seats are a bit stiff (not sure a 12 hour drive would be pleasant), but I use it to commute and for around town. It''s more practical than the SLK due to 4-seats, cargo holding. C230 Kompressor Coupe
Strength:
Cockpit features, sunroof, styling
Weakness:
Service Dept.-It took a week to get ourC-Coupe delivered as the service dept. screwed up a repair to the sunroof and then we had to send it right back the next day as they forgot to make sure the sunroof actually worked after they fixed it. We owned a 2000 Celica GT-S which was a great, fun, reliable car. But it was buzzy, kind of a boy racer look and didn''t have some of the extras that make long distance driving enjoyable. We had settled on it after looking for 6 months for a well appointed coupe with some style that didn''t cost $60K. When we found the new coupe we were thrilled. I had my wife drive both the 230 SLK and the C230 Coupe and didn''t let her see the price tags. After driving both she actually liked the coupe better than the SLK and I had to agree with her. The SLK is nice but seems a bit austere in comparision with other performance oriented 2 seater and really isn''t a practical car for those of us who deal with winters. Mercedes hit the market point perfectly with the C-Coupe. The features are all there, the huge sunroof is great, the car is quick, responsive and very ccomfortable to drive. All in all we are thrilled with our new silver C-Coupe! Similar Products Used: Celica GT-S, |

Strength:
Smooth ride; comfortable seats; excellent Bose stereo system; travels best at high speeds--75 to 90 mph.
Weakness:
Engine acceleration has never been right--even after repeated trips to the dealership for repairs! The computer regulating the fuel injection system has been repaired twice--air to fuel mixture is still not fixed properly!! The car is small but fits my 5'' frame OK. However, it is too small for my husband who is 6''3" and it is most uncomfortable for him). When the car was two weeks old, the tie rods came loose from shoddy work done while assembling the car. A/C vents came broken; automatic cup holder broke at 3 months. This is my first MB; it came highly recommended by several people whose opinions I value. However, it may possible be my last MB, due to the many problems I''ve experienced in the first three months of ownership! Strength:
The build quality is excellent. Interior front seat room/ergonomics is good. I compared the paint quality head-to-head with BMW 3 series; M-B is definitely better. This car has sporty qualities with luxury features and can keep 4 passengers comfortable even on longer trips. The Roadside assistance system is excellent.
Weakness:
Dealer experience was a letdown. I am only sporadically offered a courtesy car when my car is with the dealer for service. Pirelli performance tires (part of sport package) wore out at 27500 km (that''s 17000 miles!). Since this really isn''t a sports car, I elected to put on a set of Michelin all-season tires. The alternator failed at 41000 km. It took the dealer 3 days to replace it. Good thing it was under warranty as the part is over $800 Cdn. No other problems in 19 months of ownership. An enjoyable drive. The Sport package with full leather, sport suspension, carbon fibre interior, and 6-spoke rims is understated cool. This car is very quiet and smooth riding at high speeds, handles well, and gets 37 mpg. The 200 ft lbs of torque really moves this Civic-sized car. I think this car will appeal to those who want a safe, quiet, well-built, prestigious yet understated near luxury sedan. Compared to the 2001 model, the C230 has more horsepower and torque, better fuel economy, and better performance figures than the new C240. Strength:
Interior, classic look, sporty on the outside. German engine and refined. Looks good, and gives you satisfaction every time you look at the car. Typical Mercedes.
Weakness:
Automatic only?! I love to drive manuals but this car only got automatic. I was looking at the C240 because it got manual but since C320 has a heck more ponies I bought this one. Overall great car. Solid build and pretty looks. (not now though, my mercedes emblem got ripped off) Very refined automobile. Similar Products Used: 93 Porshe carrera, 97 Lexus Es300, 99 BMW 528 |

Strength:
Great performance and handling characteristics. Great attention payed to safety and comfort. Many neat gadgets, such as automatic windshield wipers, and an auto dimming rear view mirror.
Weakness:
I have had more trouble with this car than all the cars I have ever owned combined. The A/C broke and the entire system had to be replaced. Soon after this the paint near the wheel wells began to flake off. A month later a strip inside the driver''s side door feel off. This resulted in deep scratches in the driver''s side window and required a new window and door assembly to repair it. At the same time the "+" button on the radio fell off. Instead of being able to replace the button it was necessary to replace the entire radio unit and tape player. In addition the speedometer in the car has just stopped working. This car was Starmarked and certified by Mercedes Benz and the repairs have all been under warranty so far. I am just concerned with how I will pay for such expensive repairs after the warranty is up. I have been driving our Toyota 4Runner for the past few month well the Mercedes has been in the shop. Maybe this car is a lemon but regardless it has turned me off to the Mercedes brand. I am looking to purchase a Lexus or BMW as soon as possible and sell the Mercedes before something catastrophic occurs. It has been a mixed experience. The car drives and performs extremly well for a four cylinder automobile. Exterior noise is hardly noticable, and the fit and finish are top notch. There have been a few very expensive and frequent problems with this car. I would not recomend it to someone that wants a reliable car. Carefully weigh the prestige of a Mercedes against the surprising lack of integrity for such an expensive automobile. Similar Products Used: Volvo, Subaru Legacy, Nissan Maxima |

Strength:
Many many extra goodies. It is more responsive than I previously thought.
Weakness:
When comparing to the Lexus or Japanese luxury cars, the wheel, brake and gas is a bit harder. Japanese cars are more less effort. I think with its exceptional built quality and many convenience extras which come standard, this car is worth a 5 star. The SOS GPS is a plus. It should a standard in every car in the future, in my opinion. Similar Products Used: Infiniti Q45 |
