Strength:

The supercharged engine gives the performance when you want it plus the economy the rest of the time. With todays technology, why don't more companies offer this? Driven a soft-top before and did not like the noise, drafts, etc. With a hardtop convertible, I get the quiet ride of a hardtop plus the wind in my hair ride of a convertible!

Weakness:

The radio has poor reception compared to my other cars. Drink holder needs to be more stable! An open, more than half full cup is an invitation for a wet console!

Considered a Vette, but I did not want the poor gas mileage. Tried a new SLK230 and fell in love. Found a used one on eBay at a great price. Absolutely great performance plus good gas mileage.

Tried a vette - too gas hungry and the choice of either a T-top or convertible is no comparison to a hardtop convertible. The Mazda Miata is short on power and only as economical as the SLK230. It i

I love this car!!! It's fast, gas efficient, quiet, handles like a dream and I simply can't get the smile off my face!I love the Audi TT from the outside; but, after testing both, there was no question! It's SLK all the way!

Performance, gas milage, looks, handeling

Weakness:

Limited access to trunk with top down

This SLK has only been in the shop for reqular maintenance twice in 20K miles. There was a door rattle but the top has been through 288 cycles without a problem. I understand there is a major redesign for 2004. I would purchase another one. The 500 SL has a new feature. The top in the retracted state will pivot up and you can access the bottom of the trunk. Will this be a feature on the SLK?

My girlfriend has a BMW Z4. I think I can beat her in the 1/4 mile. My golf clubs will fit in her trunk with the top down, however I don't like the sound of the doors when they close.

Strength:

Good on gas mileage. has get up and go when u need it. Sturdy handling.

Weakness:

Problems with the roof not going down or up. Been to the the dealer twice already to have "switches reaplaced". Had a rattle in the door. They fixed that. I feel like It spends more time at the dealership than with me. I'm almost sorry that I bought the car. I never know if when I put the top down if it is going to go back up again, luckily I have warranty coverage, but it's more of irritant than anything.

I really enjoy the car....when it's not at the dealer for repairs. It's fun to ride with the covertible down on a sunny day. It handles well. However, I don't think that I will purchase another one considering the amount of problems that I have had in the short amount of time that I have had the car. Please do your research before purchasing.

Strength:

Appearance, speed, hard-top automatic convertible roof. I also love the warning lights that tell you if you are driving too crazy & the one that lets you know you have a break-light bulb out.

Weakness:

The fact that I have to use Premium gas.

I love this car!!! It is way faster than I would have expected and has not lost in a speed-off from a light yet! I have the auto with AMG sport package. It gets tons of attention and even the Mercedes dealer could not tell that it was a 1999, he thought it was a newer model.

Strength:

The styling is understated yet elegant for what the auto is. The interior is beautiful and roomy. The top is a dream. For those who are contemplating the Z4, just look how dated the Z3 looks now, and in five years people may ask you "what were you thinking?"

Weakness:

It is pricy, only the Porsche Boxter is more. Honda S2000 is really a bargain, but too small.

I did my research before buying this auto. BMW Z4 (ouch, from the Ugly School Pontiac Aztec Design). Audi TT Roadster, just too, ah, well, wierd. Honda S2000, not made for anyone over 6 feet. The SLK did it for me. Beautiful interior and exterior. Roomy (for a roadster)

I love the car for its performance but I have had major problems with the roof either not opening or not closing. My dealer could not solve the problem. Can anyone advise how their dealer solved the issue?

Strength:

Good Gas Milage, Fair acceloration, wonderful highway handling and passing capabilities...all around...My idea of a roadster

Weakness:

Top has broken three times...replaced under warranty twice...not cheap to fix

Handling is stiff minimum understear...the traction control limits slides and hesitates the 0-60 acceloration on a slam footed jump...

Strength:

Torgue, smooth delivery of horse power, and great handling. Driving dynamic is well balanced, character is pure Mercedes.

Weakness:

The paint is easily chipped. Could use a better manual transmission. Expensive. Terrible break dust. Not the most reliable Mercedes.

I've owned this car for over two years and I really like driving it. It has plenty of power and the handling is outstanding. Mine has a six-speed manual. It is a little rough from 1st to 2nd gear, but pass that point it is no problem. Note that the AMG version is called SLK 32 AMG, not SLK 320 AMG. One reviewer is complaining about SLK 320 AMG which does not exist. In my opinion, you should probably not trust the words of those who don't know what he/she bought.

BMW Z3 3.0. Good machine. Inferior interior material and build quality comparing to SLK.
