Weakness:
-Squeaking and rattling in the dash/seats (I still don't know where it's coming from!) I like driving this car, although the blind spot kills me. I find it hard to see over the back headrests, so I end up folding them down. The keyless remote is way too loud. I do love the stereo though. Similar Products Used: Frankly, I don't like this car any more than my Jetta (believe it or not!) |

Weakness:
As an engineer who fell for the "engineering" approach Saab uses to sell its cars, I feel somewhat misguided. I have had several mechanical and electrical problems with the car and fixing it often takes far too long. Motor mounts have broken, lug nuts on the wheels have rusted, bulbs have gone out, steering pump has gone out, leather is too soft and deteriorates quickly, door locks have failed, rear decklid behind headrests has faded, gearbox has loosened beyond normal wear, clutch has failed (at only 27,000 miles), and the list goes on and on. I see that several others have had bad cars too. Overall, I am extremely unhappy with the car and am considering filing a suit under Florida state statuatory law. I have had considerable problems with the car, though I like the understated lines. Similar Products Used: Land Rover (though not similar), Nissan (cheaper and never a problem) and a brief experience with an Audi that had a much more favourable ride than the Saab |

9.5 Wagon
Strength:
The new car smell when it was new.
Weakness:
Read "Overall Impression." This car is nothing more than a $20,000 GM product marketed as something beyond the purest sexual fantasy around. I have read many of the reviews on this car and I seem to identify with those who have had a plethora of problems. First, my 9.5 started suffering from vibrations, rattles and squeaks at 10,000 miles. But before it even hit 10,000 it was back at Saab of Santa Ana four times. The lights failed, the automatic transmission clunked when the car was shifted into reverse, and the steering wheel seemed to shimmy and shake. The power steering pump was replaced. I definitely made a mistake purchasing this car. I now have about 16,000 miles on it and I can't get comfortable in the front seat. I reckon the steering wheel is to low on the dash or something. I am beginning to leak oil and the engine is getting louder. This is a $20,000 car, not the $34,000 I paid for it. Funny thing is, Saab of Santa Ana offered my $21,000 for it on trade in. This car is becoming unpleasant to live with and I cannot wait to convince myself that it is time to move on to something far more reliable and pleasant. Similar Products Used: Several Mercedes-Benzes, which were much more solid. My medical partner's Audi is much more solid than this lousy Saab. |
