Strength:

5 speed manual, exterior w/ spoiler, large trunk, nice interior, uncommon (i only see about 1-2 a week unless i go to burtonsville), steering wheel radio control, stock has pretty much every option you would want

Weakness:

Rear seat doesnt fold down (there is a "ski pass through") although this isnt a problem for me, hard to find one with manual tranny, black interior gets hot (will be getting more tint soon)

I have the 2.3 5 speed. I would not buy an automatic car, especially since this particular car has a reputation for problems with the auto tranny. I've had the car for 6 months. I bought it with 32k on it, now have 35k. I'm starting to mod it because the 150hp isn't enough for me. It is fine for regular driving, however. I drive mostly city miles and average 25mpg. I have had no maintainence problems nor did the previous owner. Two misconceptions about this car are it is smaller than a sedan and sporty. It is certianly sportier looking than a sedan, but it almost the exact same car as the accord, it just has a 2 door acura body. It is just as big. The 4 cylinder has enough power for regular driving, but if you so desire a lot of accord performance parts work. See www.acura-cl.com

Strength:

Stylish, great handling, a little lack of power but thats what the manual trans. is for, and the gas mileage is comparable to my civic si.

Weakness:

Terrible turning ratio, could use larger rims, and the rear seats needs to fold down.

I love the car. Over all I am very satisfied with it. Everyone who has been ranting and raving about the CL doesn't know anything about cars in general. This car is a great on long drives especially, when your able to take the car into high revs.

Model Reviewed: CL Type-S 6-speed manual

Strength:

Very fast off the line! Very tight short throw gear shifts! Handles like a dream! Comes totally loaded with leather, 6-disc, moonroof etc. The only option available is a navigation system which I did not get, it's like $2,200, I don't need it.

Weakness:

No rear spoiler standard, it's like a $550 option.

One bad ass ride! Quick, nimble, sleek, very impressive! You've got to drive one!

Strength:

to effectively reach 0-60 in 6.5 secs switch your car to tiptronic. press the VSA OFF button located above the cruis control button and flutter the gass pedal untill you are at 3000rpms then let the pedal hit the metal. to flutter press down on the accelerator 1/3 to 2/3 the way down and let go as quick as you can. (kind of how antilock breaks work but with the cass pedal)

Weakness:

this car is the master of a fine balance in luxery performance value and reliability. though it is not the best at any one of these subjects it mixes them perfectly

I am 18 years old. i have been a valet driver for one year. therefore i have had the opertunity to drive every car in the biz. and for the money there is no car on the planet with the reliability, proformance, luxery, feature content, and value of the Cl-s. most bang for your buck raw v8 power(get a camrrow) raw speed and handling(get a wrx) but if you want luxery and speed and value the perfect mix is the cl-s. some people say this has bad gass milage. i get what the EPA says when i drive mellow. seat warmers are a must have and they come standard. my next thing is to get a K&N air filter and Comptech Hedders which raises the HP to about 302BHP. anyone that knows what i am talking about knows that equals fast fast fast. you just have to learn how to drive the car before you go out racing anyone or you will be made a fool of very fast. the 6.5sec 0-60 rating is if you know how to drive the car right. since it is a front wheel drive car and it has so much torque you will never go anywhere if you just slam your accelerator off the line. I lost a race to my friends A4 2.8 (which is a 8+ second 0-60 car) becuse i couldnt get any traction for the first second. the Cl-s will peel out and then the Variable Stability Assist will kick in and override the accelerator and take gass away from the engion to regain traction. by this time your race oponent will be gone.

Strength:

Nice looking

Weakness:

Bad transmission, seems to have short wheel base, can not make tight turns.

Bought the car used with 30k miles. Really pretty, nice and elegant. Good gas mileage, overall good car. Again with the bad transmission!!!! Before it got to 70k the transmission went out, very scary! Like one other said, "..just kept revving and never was in gear, while going 40 mph cars around me very dangerous!".

Strength:

Oh, it's a beauty to look at and drive, no doubt. Comfortable and powerful.

Weakness:

Feels like a an accident waiting to happen.

As I was commuting home in traffic yesterday, the transmission quit on me at 45 mph. The engine kept revving but it wasn't in gear. The gear engaged intermittently the rest of the drive home. Scared the **** out of me. Had to have it towed to the dealership. The dealership told me that "there is something loose in the transmission and the whole thing has to be replaced and that even though my warranty had expired at 50k miles, there was an "extended" warranty on the transmission. They are replacing it and giving me a a rental, free of charge. After researching online, I find that this is a well known problem - and extremely dangerous. As soon as I can, I'm selling this thing.

Strength:

-Comfortable interior -Nice styling -An array of options -Large trunk space -Nice polished 16in. wheels -Good handling and overall pleasure to drive

Weakness:

-Turning radius -Minor exterior cosmetic problems (moldings) -Not much power but ample for a 4 banger.

Very comfortable ride. I was very impressed by all the standard features although I question why they didn't throw in foglights. Very good on long trips also quite pleasuring. The stereo controls on the steering wheel are great. Just kept the head unit and replaced the speakers and added an amp. Bought mine used so with 35k miles so experiencing minor exterior cosmetic problems. Overall a great vehicle for the money.

Strength:

power, build quality, handling to comfort ratio is ideal for every day use. price.

Weakness:

not quite european road feel of audi a4 30 or bmw 330 ci.

i test drove 3.2cl s type 6 spd 2 times and wow. great power through the entire rpm range. smooth shifting tranny, great clutch. very comfortable seats. i also test drove audi a4 3.0 stick and maxima se stick and concluded a4 is sluggish in power but handles better, but is a $140 mnth higher. not worth it. the maxima does not have the shift action of the cl but overall, a decent value. but for the same money, i got the cl. i have looked at and drove a lot of other cars, but none came close to performance, comfort, quality and value. i pick it up in 2 weeks. cant wait.

Model Reviewed: /3.2 CL

I loved this car up until the other day when the transmission started to act up. I have just taken my car into the dealership with a complaint about the transmission slipping between third and forth gear. The car has just over 20,000 miles on it. The dealership is replacing the transmission while I drive a loaner. After reading another review on this website, I am wondering why Acura is not recalling the 3.2 CL and replacing all transmissions. My other questions is have they done anything to the transmission they are installing in the vehicle to correct the problem.
