Strength:

Still love the car but probably won't lease another when this one is up. The car has absolutely AWSOME power and acceleration. It still gives you the most bang and goodies for the buck.

Weakness:

No telescoping steering wheel. The sound system is pathetic.

That's right, ANOTHER ONE! My transmission went out on me this week with only 18,000 miles. The first couple of days it slipped in 3 and 4th gear. Then, it locked up on me while driving 60mph on the freeway. The car went into a skid but luckily I was pointed straight at the time and no one was following to close behind me. The dealership was good about getting me a new transmission right away and paying for a rental car. This is the scary part though. The finance manager at the dealership admitted to me that Acura has had at least 16,000 of these cases with CL and TL since 2001. Why hasn't there been a recall? Does someone really have to die before the will do the right thing. I could have. Also, for anyone interested in buying and Acura, take note. Honda of America has begun denying all of the web based sites that provide recall information about various automobiles. What are they hiding from you

Looks Good, drives Good

Weakness:

Transmisson sucks

I agree with Dell from Wilson, NC. This car is a piece of CRAP! It looks good and drives good, but the transmisson sucks. I started to look up info about the car after my friend (who has the same car) told me he had to have his tranny replaced (@ 15,000 miles). Now mine is going bad (@ 24,000 miles) and after reading Dell's review my debate about should I trade it in or not is settled. Also when I first brought the car I had to have it repainted because brown circular stains started to show up in the paint, the dealer said it came from moisture in the paint. BUYERS BEWARE!

Strength:

Good acceleration. Holds the road well at high speeds.

Weakness:

The transmission is garbage. When I had less than 40K miles the transmission had been replaced twice. The transmission locked up while I was driving on a major highway. The second time it started slipping as I was taking off from a stoplight. Both times were near death experiences. The front rotors were also replaced twice. It seems that they warp when the car is driven at high speeds in hot temperatures and quick braking is applied. The trade-in value dropped like a brick falling off a building.

This car surprises my friends when they ride in it with me. From the heated outside mirrors to the electronically controlled seats for both driver and passenger, this vehicle provides major luxury at an affordable price. The 260 horsepower engine really performs.I also happen to like the understated look.

Strength:

6 speed transmission, I wouldn't have considered the auto. Low end torque for a multi-valve engine. Great seats, quiet ride. Doesn't look flashy like the BMW

Weakness:

Minimal head room(I'm 6' 1" and I have a longer torso), bose system has marginal bass. No telescoping steering wheel. Not rear-wheel drive.

I have always driven trucks, Toyota trucks for the reliability, not the comfort. The Acura was the best performance vs. price around. I test drove the Lexus IS300 (great car for people under 5'8"), the BMW 325ci (great car but not that powerful and pleather at $30,000?), Infinity G35 (excelent handling, but I'm not ready for a 4 door), and a Ford Mustang (fast but all the refinement of my 1991 Toyota 2wd truck and not much more). So far the car has been a blast to drive. Above 3500 the car pulls like the Mustang right up to 7000. The intake sounds are wonderful. Below 3500 I was surprised at the torque available. The car produces peak torque from 3500-5500. The car comes pretty well stocked with options. The only factory option is the navagation system, but for those of us who can read maps the extra $2000 is wasted.

Strength:

quality of materials, value, Acura service (so far), power on demand, smooth shifting 6-speed, historic reliability.

Weakness:

sunroof doesn't open very far, no fold down rear seat, no telescoping steering wheel.

This car is great. I rung my hands over whether to wait for the 350Z, G35 coupe or the RX-8. I obviously haven't driven any of these machines, but I think this car hits the sweet spot in luxury, performance and value. I'm sure I won't have any quality issues and this one was made in America. This car is completely loaded. What decided it for me was when Car and driver gave this car a 96/100 and said that it had 'the best front wheel drive system anywhere, any time, bar none'

Great acceloration despite it being a realtively heavy car (which is a safty factor in crashes). Wonderful seats, climate control and stero..

Weakness:

none

Ive been very happy with my CL type S. It has lively accloration, which makes driving the car a blast. Ive put over 25,000 miles on it with no problems. The back seat has plenty of leg room for passengers, unlike many other coupes. The car is packed with features that make you feel like you are drining a $50K car. I was happy to see that the 2001 CL got the highest reliability ratings in Consumer Reports.t

Build quality is low. TRANSMISSION is dead for the second time. I hate this car. I am considering just driving it off a cliff, maybe then the car will drive right.

This car looks good, drives good, but is a piece of crap. Don''t buy!!!! My transmission blew at 1700 miles. Now it is time to get another at 15,009 miles. This car has tons of standard stuff. The car has nice wheels and looks good but the rattles, bad radio, and crappy automatic isn''t up to par. The 5spd auto has a widely know problem, check out www.acura-cl.com Honda will not issue a recall. I can''t believe I traded my 300ZX in for this car. I am in the process of tracking my Z down and getting it back. I will never buy an AcuraHonda car again. The CL could be nice, but isn''t. Honda messed up on this one.

Strength:

The 260hp is definitely a strength. I have owned almost every performance car with rear wheel drive and a throaty V-8, but they don''t compare with the smooth power delivery of the S-Type. You don''t even realize you are going as fast as you actually are! The titanium accents around the stereo cluster and on the door panels look very classy and edgy at the same time. The seats are the most comfortable that I have sat in and offer the most lateral support of any sports car that I have owned.

Weakness:

Since I have owned my Acura less than a month, I have not noticed any weakness yet.

I have found the Acura to be the best of all of the vehicles that I was interested in. My wife cannot drive a manual, which I love, so the Tiptronic transmission was a very good compromise. The powertrain feels very strong, even at low speeds, with a very nimble feel that was not expected in a car of this class. The looks are breathtaking with beautiful lines and 17'' rims finish the sport luxury package tastefully. Anyone that wants the best of both worlds; sport and luxury, will love this car!

Engine. Speed. It not only has 260 Horse power, it has good low end torque (I belive its 232 at something like 2500 RPM). Excellent interior (Better than higher priced Lexus and Mercedes)

Weakness:

Could use a fold down back seat.

Great car. Luxury plus performance. You wont be able to buy a new car that performs this well with so many stanadard features within 10K of this car. The interior looks classy, with a quality feel. And you get the reliability of an Acura. I havent had any problems over the last year.
