Strength:

Speed!!! Love the sport shift. Very comfortable seats. All the extras included. Dealership was great at sale and is great for maintenance. Heated seats are great. I love the navigation system. I never get lost anymore.

Weakness:

Wish it had real wood in the interior. Wish they had more color selection. The tinting on the windows could be a little darker

Love this car. Had to buy a second one for my boyfriend he liked it so much. It blows everyone away. Not a family car. Should be in the sports car class.

Strength:

great interior (prem. pkg)
smooth ride
large trunk
nimble response
good looking back end (with spoiler)
somewhat solid

Weakness:

slow acceleration
pwr windows seem "worn out"
auto. trans does not shift smoothly.
turning radius
when windows half-way rolled up and you shut door,they rattle.
passenger seat is not pwr.

My wife and I purchased this car used from a local Honda Dealership with 42000 miles on it. So far we've had few problems with it. The drivers side window got stuck when I rolled it the way down, once. I played with the switch for a bit and then it came up. Since then, it has not happened again. The weather stripping on the outside on the front windsheild has decided to start to come apart. Honda dlr. tried to fix, but it came undone again. Will make another trip to try to get it fix (under warranty).
Besides those 2 problems, this car seems to be a good machine. When on the highway it is somewhat smooth and quiet. We purchased the warranty with the car to cover small problems like we've encountered. I highly recommend warranties when purchasing a used car. They come in handy when needed

Strength:

product for the $$$, better warranty than the accord

Weakness:

5 speed only available in the 4 banger(which I have)
wish this veh came with dohc. stock 145 horses needs minor upgrades same with suspension all available in aftermarket..jus ask for accord parts...suspension and engine are the same.

was involved in rear end accident where an escort hit me at 40mph, I was stopped. I was expecting alot of damage to the rear end ...I'm happy to report that veh absorbed alot of the energy and repairs were moderate compare to the impact...love this car wish it had the prelude engine but no complaints for this happy owner

Strength:

acceleration, handling, factory sound system, wood & leather interior are great pair, comfortable seating, large trunk space, smooth ride

Weakness:

little room in rear seats (but im not sitting back there)

overall i am very pleased with my car. with even the slightest after-market enhancement these acuras will be admired by almost anyone. the interiors are comfortable and elegant, while the exterior is unlike most cars (but not too extreme) which makes it stand out in a crowd.

Similar Products Used:

honda accord - acura is much nicer looking, performs much better, and is overall a higher quality car.
bmw coupes - acura is not as quick but is nicer in manual trans, has better interior layout, and a better factory sound system

Strength:

nice interior, sound system,premium package

Weakness:

SLOW, notchy shifter, ugly in my opinion, the engine is a weak 4 banger

I was originally happy with the car, but the styling got really old and now i think its kinda ugly, still a nice car but has no power , if you are looking for an underpowered luxury coupe then this is it, but for me im screwed cuz my parents wont let me sell it, until they let me sell it im dreaming of a 3000 GT vr-4, next time ill buy what i relly wanted a sports car, not a 4 cylinder rice cooker

Strength:

Very plush interior thats full of great options which are standard. Excellent handling and exterior styling.

Weakness:

Looks like it is missing a piece without the rear spoiler. 5 speed transmission is a little clunky, had to have the entire clutch assembly replaced at 26,000 (It was covered under warranty however). Also, shortly after replacing the clutch assembly, the syncros seem to not work very well in second and third gear.

I am pleased with the car overall. It is a beautiful machine, especially with the tinted windows, marque plate, and foglamps which I added. It often recieves stares from people and I often catch people around the car trying to peak inside. It also looks much more expensive than it actually is, no one believes me when I tell them how much I paid for it. I am pretty displeased with the five speed manual, it is a possibility that mine was just a fluke because no one else seems to report problems with it. Acura has covered any problems I have encounterd thus far. Hopefully, the syncros will be remedied at the 33,000 mile service. If anyone reads this and has the same car and transmission, I would like to get your opinion on it, please email me at vlf1@bryant.edu

Compared to the honda accord it is a much handsomer car and a better value price wise when you compare standard options. Toyota Solara comes close, but also more expensive.

Strength:

* 3.2L 225hp engine
* Smooth transmition
* Great standard equipment
* Classy exterior

Weakness:

* Road noise
* Cheap interior
* Front heavy (63:37) distribution
* No manual transmition

Acura CL is probably one of the best deals out there right now. The list of standard option is unbeatable; it includes heated front seat, memory seat setting, automatic adjustable rear view mirrors, and In-dash CD changer. If I had more money I would have bought a BMW 325Ci, but it would have also cost me over 30K.

So far no complaints about the CL, it has great handling, good power, and great styling. I highly recommend this car to someone that is looking for value and performance.

Strength:

Excellent comfort and performance at an unbeatable price! Try to get this level of comfort and performace per dollar from a BMW! Yes, I purchased this model to compete with all of my BMW-owning co-workers, and have blown them away (except for the the M3; but I won't go there)!

Weakness:

The transmission is not on par with the rest of the car. I hear that later models have improved, but the '97 4-speed automatic is a disappointment!

The buying experience was a pleasure (but then again, I knew what I wanted before arriving at the dealership). I got a great car for a great price. I've had nothing but positive comments from those who have seen it. I love all of the "bells and whistles" that come with this luxury coupe. I simply did not see anything else out there that came close to the price/performance/comfort/reliability combination that comes from the Honda family of cars. This is my first Acura after owning several Accords, CRX's, and Civics.

Similar Products Used:

For the price, nothing else comes close (except for the Honda Accord V6). As for pure speed, there are a several quicker models out there, but not at this price. Comfort level ranks up there with models costing $10K to $15K more!

Strength:

Very quick for an automatic, looks sleek and classy, nicely appointed, great price

Weakness:

A stick would be nice, it's quick not fast, fatter rims and tires (All Hondas need more rubber)more distinguished interior

Overall I love this car. It is super reliable. Looks great and is very quick for an automtic. Low 7 secs to 60 is great for an automatic. A stickshift would have been better suited and would probably knock almost a second off the time. 205/55/16 allseasons do nothing for this car. It needs atleast 225/50/17s. I've had this car for almost 4 years and it still purrs and handles great. It will hold its own against almost any car, bar a mustang or Z28. That's my pet peeve, this car should keep up with those like a BMW M3. I've seen the new 3.2CL Type S, it's moving closer but still can't quite keep up with the M3, well maybe if it had a real stick shift. Bang for buck though, it's unbeatable, fully loaded, with leather, sunroof and all that power for a good 10-15 G's less than an equally equipped BMW 3 series, and will blow the doors off all their automatic equipped models.

Model Reviewed: Acura 3.2CL Type S

Strength:

The style and ride is solid with excellent acceleration. The controls are easy to use and the dash gives the driver access to all features without taking the eyes off the road.

Overall performance is impressive. Handling is nimble and sure.

Weakness:

Rear seating is limited to a brief case, or other work related material. It is also well suited for a suit or jacket. However, the car should not be purchased for a full time family car. However, the family would look great.

For anyone looking at a highend sports car, strongle recommend test driving the 3.2 CL type S. Then come back here and fill out a review, or to make it easier, copy mine.
