Strength:

Comfort, comfort, comfort. Extra speed from engine. Nice smoth ride.
A lot of car for the $$. Because the resale value is low, the car is great bought used. Buick really did right by the Regal.

Weakness:

cup holder placement. Driver side window is weak.

I've had about 6 cars from various makes prior to my Buick Regal. I researched here and other places before purchasing. I liked how it sat, and wanted the engine to be sound. Buick Customs had issues due to its engines, but Regals didn't have quite the same issues.
After 4 years (brought a 2003 used in 2003 it had 27000 miles already) I have to say I love this car, and have told people I believe my next car is to be a Buick. The car has had normal repairs. Car has 79000 on it now. Went on a 5000 mile trip smoothly. Its starting to sound a little rough now, but its a cold winter, and everything checked out. Engine never gets hot, when you want some extra speed, just press that peddle and hold on. The car LIKES to go above 70 and rides the smoothest I believe at 80.
Since it seems almost all sedans look alike now days, I can't see anyone saying any longer that Buicks are for old ladies/men.
I still feel that this car a great value for the $$.

Comfort, perfect size car, heated seats, very reliable.

Love this car! We bought it to replace my husbands Cadillac STS, which had lots of regular, expensive repairs. This has been a very reliable car. We've had it for a year and a half, and have put about 19,000 miles on it. Very comfortable, great heated seats, pretty good mileage and roomier than you'd think. Took a trip recently with 4 adults and one 7 yr old - 6 hrs each way - and it worked just fine for people and gear. We bought it for my husband, but I drive it every chance I get.

3800 Engine is amazing, I've never had a problem with the transmission or electrical. '95 is a old for a car but I would recommend Buick to anyone.

Weakness:

At somewhere around 100,000 miles most Regals need a new altenator.

This is a great car. You cant "kill" it and trust me I tried.

Strength:

As I've already pointed out, with the added safety goodies for 95 and the redesigned front end, lights at the back and gauge package this car falls into the category of sweet machine. The 3800 also had a boost this year from 170 to 205 and you can feel it in the pedal. The engine is unbelievably responsive and it runs so smooth you cant even feel it idle. If you haven't picked up on this so far, I'm very impressed with this car!!!! It's like an old Skylark but with modern technology and front wheel drive. It has that old car feel.

Weakness:

As with all American cars, sometimes thier gadgetry can be cheaply made and poorly designed, but when they put this car together I'm guessing they didnt feel they needed any of that so they kept it to a minimum. It has a nice , clean operating area with no clutter and easy to read gauges as compared to the earlier years where the gauges were somewhat cluttered.

Over the last 20 years of driving I have owned alot of different vehicles, not only different in technology but also different in every aspect of a vehicle.Up until I bought my GS I always believed that the American car industry had stopped putting together well made cars. The GS changed my opinion, This Buick is a excellent example of technology and design put together properly. It is a coupe that is set up to look similar to the 87 Grand National( with the blacked out and down sized waterfall grill at the front and the entire vehicle is black with a limited edition light group for the back lights). The buick insignia is a high quality ornament on the top side of the front above the grill which very much looks like the BMW of that year. It is compared in value to the BMW of that year and if you drive it you would know why. For 70% of what a BMW would cost, in my oipinion you have a faster, better looking and more reliable vehicle. This car does turn heads and when you get into the leather interior your opinion only gets better.I am a hot rod fan as I own a 72 Nova with all the personality of the muscle age and I do believe the GS is just as fast but also really comfortable on top of everything else. The 3800 is an incredible engine, pumping out a naturally aspirated 205 horsepower and not working very hard doing it.It is a pleasure driving in bumper to bumper traffic and also at 100 miles an hour( not that I do that of course). My GS is a 2 door and as such, is very rare and these days its hard to find a different looking vehicle with the positives I've already pointed out. The interior has the updated gauge package and the leather seats and since this is a relatively large car, it's amazing how roomy and comfortable it is.The sound system is awesome and the safety features like driver and passenger air bags and reinforced beams in the doors adds extra strength to the machine.

At this point I have a 1997 Buick Skylark with a 3100 which is a pretty good car( same black exterior as my GS).I also have a 1972 Nova in original condition and original chevy v8, a 1987 Buick Sporthatch which is very rare and ready to be fixed up,a 1997 GMC Sierra with the nasty Vortec 5 liter(fast) and last but not least a 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier RS with a pumped up 3.1 liter which is also on the nasty side. No wonder I'm broke all the time( but having fun)

Strength:

GS's have tons of power off the line! Get an LS if your not a lead foot, but otherwise spring for the extra's. For the technology, smooth transmission and ride. (remember, there is alot quicker and sometimes better technology on cars since 99). Sound system is pretty good for stock, some people may want more. 3800's have been reliable for years, and are still being used! 4t65e's are good transmissions if fluids are changed regularly. Give one a try, you'll like it!

Weakness:

Found many people have had problems with center console cup holders breaking. Glare on the windshield is common when the dash is clean. Have heard of a few rear speakers blowing (start to sound really bad). Taillights are a pain for the average man to replace. And addressing the issue with the upper intakes on the LS (vin K) 3800 engines: the supercharged ones's (vin 1) do not have this issue as there upper intake is metal (a supercharger) while the regular 3800's upper intake is plastic. This plastic overtime rots out by an EGR port and causes coolant to leak into the upper intake and eventually the crankcase. This is true of all the GM 3800's with the plastic intake, not just Buick's. To avoid severe damage, take your vehicle in to the shop if coolant goes low in the reservoir, Don't ignore it!. This really pisses some people off, but I just look at it as a trade off for not having to replace costly timing belts (i.e. honda, toyota, and all the other asian's). Every engine has it's weak point, if you take care of the fluids and perform routine maintenance like you should, the car will run forever.

I have never owned a nicer car! Of course I've never driven a new Caddy, Lexus, etc. Power galore for you speed freeks. It is defintely a sleeper! Has a nice mix of luxury and sportiness. Leather seats, dual climate control, sunroof/moonroof, monsoon sound, heated seats. The wife loves the dual climate and heated seats. The LS's are nice cars as well, my brother just bought a 99 LS and loves it. 3800 (3.8L) have been and still are rock solid engines. If you take care of the vehicle (i.e. change the fluids accordingly, you will no issues.) If your mechanic tells you your fluid is dirty, CHANGE IT! Awesome car for the price and surely not your fathers buick. The GS's are fast and fun.

Strength:

It has a nice and powerful 3.8 liter V6 that produce 198 horses of power. It's mated to a transmission that makes good use of that power. There is very little lag between pressing down the gas pedal and the car moving forward with some nice speed. Just because it's a Buick doesn't mean it's slow. It's fun to see the reactions of those in there Civics and Corollas that are all decked out when you get to the next red light after you just beat them by quite some bit from the last one. But power isn't the only component of handling and speed, the suspension system is. With the Gran Touring package the car handles quite well; it is responsive and nimble, at least for such a large vehicle. Additionally, with the concert sound package, it will provide you with some nice sounds to further the fun of the experience. Finally, weather conditions. It handles snow just fine, and wet roads as well. However, because of the angle of the windshield it can be difficult to drive in downpours.

Weakness:

Despite it's strengths, there are some issues that completely ruin the experience if you expect that the technology will do it's job the first time everytime all the time. Cruise Control: There is about a five second delay between asking the car to acclerate and it actually beginning to acclerate. Traction Control: Way to easy to overpower. Both of these are examples of the slow electronics in this vechicle. Yes, they tend to work (except for the automatic rearview mirror dimmer) pretty well, but by the time they react the situation is gone. Also, despite the large brakes, it is still a hard car to stop, and in hard braking you can really hear them working. Finally, the seats aren't that comfortable. Just something about them when combined with it's ride that makes it a bit uncomfortable.

More sporty than your average Buick, it tries to appeal to the younger crowd that is looking for a more sporty car, yet one that is also luxurious and filled with some nice technology. It has plenty of useful power and an overall nice ride. However, it has some things that just ruin the overall experience of owning one.

240 HP - more if you add any mods, which I'm planning, leather interior, great air/heating system, heated front seats for winter driving, good highway mpg (around 32 for me), good trunk space. I have had NO problems with this car (knock on wood), although I did buy an extended warranty just in case.

Weakness:

Low in-town mpg, a little crowded in the back seat (need to put my seat forward when passengers are in the back), small glovebox.

I have had this car for nearly a year now and I LOVE it! Even with stock parts, it has really good power under the hood. Gives a comfortable ride too. Got it with the Joseph Aboude (sp?) and Olympic packages, so it has just about everything. Tried the LS along with this car to compare and the GS definitely had better power. Just felt more solid underneath me. NOT an old lady car by any stretch! If anyone is planning on getting one, two pieces of advice - tint the windows and peel off the dealer "racing stripes" then buff out the dirt lines it will leave behind. The car will actually look less bulky and made mine look darker - the color is called "graphite" - it now looks almost black without the stripes. VERY fun car that turns heads when driving around town!!

Strength:

Power is very good for a family car (200hp). The ride is so smooth and quite - even at highway speeds, a real pleasure to drive. I think it looks pretty sharp, a blend of sport and sophistication. Dual climate zone is a fantastic idea!

Weakness:

None that I can really think of.

I'm a big fan of Japanese cars but I bought this Regal after much consideration and research into quality and reliability. I've had the car for 2 years now and I'm still very impressed and have no regrets. It's not quite at the level of quality found in Japanese cars but it's still very good and for the difference in price I would not hesitate to buy another one!
