Strength:

relaxing and quick (regal gs model)

Weakness:

light on the climate control which was fixed under ins.

I am a family man at the age of 39. I needed a car that was suitable for my family
of 4, but with the flare of a sport sedan, I got it. Just got back from Florida from
Ohio. this was the most comfortable ride at long distance I ever had. Cruising
between 80 to 100 was a breeze, and I had more pedal left , though I feared to
use it. I even left a 5.0 liter Mustang in the dust. I'm not bragging am I, ha ha ha.
anyone looking for a combonation of class and flash, this is it,TRUST ME!!!
I am rating the Regal GS 240 pony supercharge by the way.

Strength:

3.8litre engine(series II),good acceleration, reasonable braking, reasonable fuel economy, comfortable, troublefree so far, roomy interior, good sized trunk, parts easy to find(and cheap) if something were to go wrong!!

Also this vehicle came with a aftermarket CD player and a remote starter, which was kind of nice.

Weakness:

Style of this vehicle is a bit outdated. The updated model came out in 1997.

Would recommend this vehicle because of the engine/transmission combination(virtually indestructable). The bodies tend to hold up as well, which is important up here in Canada. I purchased this vehicle at 46,000 miles and if reasonably maintained this vehicle should go for a long time. My previous car (1990 Olds 88 Royale) had 200,000 miles and still ran like a charm. Interestingly, I sold it with a certification, to a gentleman who had an older Olds 88 with 300,000 miles on it. His olds ran fine, however the body was looking a little worse for wear.
I purchased this vehicle because of its good rating and because I owned a similar vehicle which more than met my expectations. I would recommend this car to individuals looking for a good mid sized car!!

Strength:

Big roomy, comfortable. Good V-6 3800 engine. I personally like the style of the car all around. Good Handling in all conditions of weather. It all right on Gas mileage 29/30 (city/highway). Body in good shape.

Weakness:

Very expensive car to operate. Mantinace is outrageous. Had many of repairs completed. Over hauled the brakes 3 to 4 times, which is now working all right. Leaking Transmission, will get that fix sometimes soon.

I would recommend it for people who have a lot of money to afford this vehicle. It nice car to have, but keep in mind, it expensive to operate. Good car for single people with a lot of money to spend on this baby. Good luck, if you want one of this baby!

One solid car for all ages. (Too those who are old enough to Drive!) I would continue to hold this car until the engine quits.

Strength:

The air bags have not gone off accidently as stated in the safey notice recieved 5-1-01(not a recall until more people die)

Weakness:

Breaks wear out fast. Needs struts. Had to replace exaust gasket. Ride is average. The Dynaride is loud. Seats are uncomfortable. Window fell into door. Should have got a honda.

Paid too much.. Got much less than expected. Now experiencing engine problems with 3.8l engine. Do not recommend any year of regal.
With these type of problems, I would thought it was made by Microsoft.

Powerful. Roomy. Comfortable. Good Handling.

Weakness:

Poor Electrical system. Leaky Tranny, gaslines and gas tank.
Door handles break easy (Cheap Metal) Alternator noise.

Get a value priced car with good power. I wouldn't recommend one, however, if you are looking for a long haul car. I only paid $1000 US. Value is around $2500. Good for a family who needs a second car.

Model Reviewed: GS coupe

Strength:

Comfortable, very quiet and has more than enough power for everyday driving. The 3800 series II is still one of the best engines in the GM stable and returns reasonable mileage for its size. The cleanest styling of the previous generation Regal/Cutlass/GP coupes and much improved ergonomics over the pre-95 models. Does everything competently and is perfectly in keeping with the "banker's hot rod" reputation of some of the old Buicks.

Weakness:

Variable rate steering is too light for my taste and even the GS suspension wallows a bit. Comfort and convenience features are destined to fail (some backlighting already has), but a Buick is not a Honda and the price reflects that. Interior trim seems a bit cheap compared to an import (beancounters at work as usual).

Paid just under $16k Cdn plus tax for a loaded off-lease vehicle with less than 55,000 km; still looks and drives like new. If you want a relatively low cost v6 luxury coupe with this level of equipment, there isn't much that can touch it at the price point. Yes, it will continue to depreciate faster than you can say "Accord", but probably delivers more smiles per mile. 3800 v6 will probably last forever if treated properly.

Similar Products Used:

Easier to handle in the city than a Rivieria. Combines the most of the luxury of a Riv or Eldorado at a better price point. Replaced an '85 Ciera with 326k km on the clock; obviously, no comparison.

Strength:

Absolute Value for the BUCK..this Buick! This Forest green LS is a GMC Lease Program car with 15000 miles. Tight comfortable and Sporty. Excellent power, handling and insurable. This car is QUALITY at a LOW PRICE! REALLY enjoy it this car...especially when I PASS all the HIGH over sold, overpriced priced Japanese Imports!

Weakness:

The Common Regal ashtray inconvience placement...but it WAS NEVER used!

I paid $16000 for this GMC Program lease Buick Regal LS with 15000 miles. This car was in EXCEPTIONAL Condition... a few MINOR nicks and scratches, the ashtray and cigarette had NEVER been used! Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Vehicle! Would DIFFINITELY RECOMMEND A USED Buick Regal to ANYONE that enjoys a VERY NICE CAR without TAKING the BITE for a NEW one.

Model Reviewed: Regal LS

Strength:

Powerful responsive engine, good low end torque, well matched to automatic transmission. Roomy trunk w/useable volume and low entry. I have to Y56 "Grand Touring" Suspension (same as on the GS model) Suspension is well set up and pretty well done for a front drive US car. Excellent 4 wheel disk brakes. Good interior space for 5 adults (4 is better, tho') Tires supplied (Goodyear LS on mine) don't do justice to the suspension and steering-they give a false impression of the car's handling capabilities. Add a set of good sports tires and find out just how well this thing really handles. I used Michelin Energy MXV-4 Plus is 225/60HR-16 on the stock aluminum wheels--very stable handling, much less lateral wobble, better and very progresive steering response, and still have a good smooth ride. Car really prefers higher REAR tire pressure to get the handling right. Try 30 front and 32-33 rear with a light load, and 32 front, 35 rear with a heavier load on trips. This should work on the Pontiac Grand Prix and Olds Intrigue, also. The tire pressure trick works regardless of whether you upgrade the tires or not. The car is marketed as a sporty version of the Buick Century, which it is. But to really take advantage, DO upgrade the tires and pay attention to the tire pressures. (good advice for any car) With better tires, it is a very nice car for someone who appreciates good handling and doesn't want (or can't) spend the bucks for a BMW 328.

Weakness:

Very little to complain about except that the original equipment tires are not up to the job and do not allow the basically good suspension design to show what it can do.

$23,000 and Yes, I would IF you get the Y56 suspension package and upgrade the tires. This can be a very good driver's car. Set the suspension up right, go find a windy road, and it will put a smile on your face. If you don't care about such things, go get a Century. Properly set up this is a very good car for high speed touring on any kind of road. Mileage is 28-30 on the highway even at 70-75 sustained speeds, depending on how heavy your foot is.

Similar Products Used:

Mercury Sable with 3 liter engine is similar in size and fitments. Smoother ride, but much less secure handling than the Regal (if the Regal has better tires) Also looked at a Lincoln LS, but after the tire upgrade there was no point. Buick GS has the sport suspension, supercharged engine, needs premium fuel and has leather upholstery. It also has more weight on the front wheels and needs a tire upgrade even more than my LS. If you can live without the extra power, the LS is a better cruisin' car and cheaper to run.

Model Reviewed: Regal GS

Strength:

Strong acceleration, quiet ride, all controls are night-lit,heated seats with high/low switch, standard traction control, gorgeous chrome wheels, solid construction, great Monsoon stereo, decent gas mileage for engine size, excellent braking, generous tire size

Weakness:

Lack of trunk lid liner and dead peadal is inexcusable for a car in this class, some wind noise at highway speeds, rear end looks too much like a Century, too much front and rear overhang, glove compartment is too small, steering too light and suspension a little soft for my tastes.

This is an excellent sports sedan at a very attractive price considering all that it offers. (paid $34,500 Cnd. in June/00 and got the full load)In my view, it compares favourably in all respects to the entry-level Japanese and European sports sedans such as the Maxima, I30, TL and Millenia, all costing more. I think GM should stop trying to market this car as a family hauler in the Accord/Camry mold and take aim at the higher end of the market. With the addition of standard on-star for 2001, the GS becomes an even better deal. In terms of contruction quality, performance, luxury features and looks, the Regal GS may be the best kept secret on the road.
