Strength:

Smoooth power and ride and a style that is timeless. I have had no trouble, but that is the case with the 3800 engine and tranny. Great car that should be brought back.

Weakness:

Doors are big, but that is what you get with a two door. If GM could get this much performance and allow it to burn regular fuel rather than 92 test there would be no weaknesses

This one fantastic car! I can not help but to love the style and the seemless performance of this lux coupe. The comfort and room is first class and with 117,000 miles I have yet to have any problems. The key is keeping the fluids changed and driving it with some sence.

THE SUPERCHARGED ENGINE PERFORMS LIKE A V8. LETS YOU LEAVE THE LINE AT THE BLINK OF AN EYE. VERY QUIET SMOOTH RIDE. STYLING. LUXURY INTERIOR. NOT EVERY BODY AND THIER COUSIN HAS ONE.

Weakness:

UNUSUAL WEAR IN ONE TIRE ONLY AND THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER STARTED LEAKING. $100 REPAIR. NOT TO BAD

I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS PRETTY MUCH PROBLEM FREE. ALSO IT IS THE FASTEST CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. IT MAY BE AS BIG AS A GRANNY CAR BUT SURE PERFORMS LIKE A SPORTS CAR.(OR BETTER) I AM 19 YEARS OLD AND HAVE ALOT OF FRIENDS WITH SOUPED UP CIVICS AND NEONS THAT WONT EVEN THINK ABOUT RACING ME. THEY KNOW BETTER. I LIKE THE STYLING OF THE EXTERIOR EXCEPT FOR THE BACK. THE INTERIOR IS VERY COMFORTABLE. I HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP IN IT A FEW TIMES.(NOT WHILE DRIVING OF COURSE) I ALSO HAVE A FULL WOODGRAIN DASH THAT WRAPS AROUND TO THE DOORS. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I FEEL LIKE A MILLIONARE WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR, IT IS SO LUXURIOUS. LEATHER,16" CHROME WHEELS, FULL WOODGRAIN DASH, SUNROOF, POWER EVERYTHING, HEATED SEATS, CLIMATE CONTROL, MEMORY SEATS, SUPERCHARGED 3.8L ENGINE, MICHELINS,CD AND CASSETTE PLAYER, AND THE LIST GOES ON FOREVER. YOU DON'T KNOW HOW GREAT THIS CAR IS UNTIL YOU DRIVE IT. SMOOTH AS GLASS AND QUIET AS A LIBRARY.

Strength:

Never would i have thought i'd fall in love with my car this much but the 3800 series engine makes it hard not to. The leather interior is nice as are the comfy power seats. The huge winshield is nice and when passengers ride they dont feel cramped and you can put everything but the kitchen sink into the trunk. And did i forget to say its power? Yeah raw power.

Weakness:

I have to pay a dock fee for this boat at work! The paint also sucks, crows feet all over the place. The doors are so heavy and big i'm scared to park in some spaces and that in itself brings up the turning radius. But worst of all, my husband thinks he's at the daytona 500 everytime he wants to drive.

This is the car i've always wanted and took my time picking the right one out. It has those sexy curves, makes it very aerodynamic and the engine is by no means under powered. It only has 50,000 original miles on there so i dont know about all the horror story repair costs yet but i'll just keep on driving. Giddyup!

Strength:

Strong engine. Great ride. Beautiful interior. My car came with an aftermarket wood-grain dash and interior trim kit that blows people away. It says, "money lives here."

Weakness:

The previous owner must have hammered the car because at 90K miles it seems like I'm replacing everything under the hood. Well, not everything, that's not fair. Next up is a water pump though ... something that seems common with Rivieras. A woman who frequents the dealership I go to has an exact model and she had the same problem ... a cascade of major expenses around 90K. My biggest has been a transmission rebuild, fortunately done under an extended warranty. I have decided though that inasmuch as there's nothing on the market even in the $30-40K range that rides, runs, and looks like this, I'm going to spend the money and keep it for a few more years.

Buick, if you're out there ... listen up. Bring this car back, or at least one with its attributes. The supercharged engine is fabulous. You say you want thrust when merging onto a highway? Call this a space shuttle. It goes! The long wheel base makes it a tremendously confortable. It's got gobs of room, a great trunk, and is a real head-turner. I bet it'll be a great collector's car after a while. A couple of the previous reviews referred to this as a granny's car. Well, excuuuuuuuuse me but mental illness has obviously taken its toll here. The car exudes sex. In a good way, or course.

Strength:

Fantastic engine. There is no finer way to enjoy the engine than with a supercharger. Really moves out. Transmission is flawless at all speeds. Everyone else seems to complain about the stereo but I think it's great. Used to own a Nissan Maxima with a Bose system in it and that certainly didn't have much over this one. Know it sounds silly, but do people know how to run the radio equalizer settings?

Weakness:

Front brake rotors warp. Water pump started leaking at 45k. Have to drop the front of the engine (leave the rear alone) a couple inches to get the mounting stud out. Believe me that you want to replace the belts too as long as you're at it.

Read that this car is the second quietest to the Lexus LS300. I believe it. You can hear yourself think in this thing. Car does get looks. People who ride in it seem to enjoy the features. The memory seats are great for my wife and I.

Power, power, fuel for the miles I get is great. Love the leather. Car cleans easy, inside and out. Little to no noise inside cab. Heated seat is a plus, Auto mode for heat or cool air gets temp you want fast. Haven’t raced any one yet, but 60 in 6.4 seconds should be fun. Over all I’m happy.

Weakness:

Ok, all cars have their ups and downs. First, engine motor mount for front wheel drive, it sucks. Had to change the water pump at 78k, fine normal, but you have to lift the engine up a few feet, take off and mount, this is the same work for the belts. If you have to do one do both. Trans I’m crossing my figures, well I’ll leve that there. Small parts hard to get. Repair manual few out there. My paint job is doing fine, others are having problems, use wax. Stereo, boy this sucks. I knew I was going to replace, but there is little room in the dash, no CD players will fit. You are left with the factory radio, period. I’m looking for help on this one…….

Over all....Great car. Friends love the look, call it a granny’s car, but bring a male 29 year old, its all about me. Speed this car has, smooth ride for Dallas crappy roads and all the room inside you need for clients and friends. This is my 3rd car, and my dad wants to buy it from me. You need to know a little about cars when looking for a Buick, or have a good mechanic.

My best description of the BUICK RIVIERA is "LUXURY SPORTS COUPE". Its in a class of its own. My 1998 Riviera is not only luxury but it''s also very quick (I seriously almost beat a 2001 vette). The car is a classic waiting to happen.

i bought this car because i wanted 1 ever since i saw it new in 1995.. i just couldn''t afford to go out and put $36,000 out on a new one at the time. it turns heads everywere i go and the power is great esp for a v6..you can smoke mostly all the young punks w/ their imports that try to challenge you at the traffic light also
