Can''t think of any.

I concur with most of the reviews this car looks fantastic I get compliments all the time and most people are very surpised when they find out that its over 5 years old. I wanted this car since they first came out in ''95 but could not afford $40,000 so I traded a one year old ''99 Grand Am for the Riv the Riv only had 69,000 KM/43,000 Miles I have had it for 30 months and put over 100,000 KM/60,000 miles. I replaced the serpantine belt shortly after I purchased the car and have since only had to replace the water pump and a tune up. Other than that the car rides great, gets fairly decent mileage for a full size car and 600km/375 miles per tank and I love driving it. Its no sports car but it sure is comfortable to drive.

Strength:

Very Unique, power, 16inch wheels. Very fast for its size. Very comfortable.

Weakness:

Radio controls on steering wheel don''t work always. Paint quality could be better

This is a sleek cool ride. I wanted to buy one when they first came out. But I didn''t want to pay $32,000 for a car that would depreciate faster than the monthly payments could keep up. That said, the used Riviera was my choice between the Eldorado (to costly to maintain, Poor gas mileage)and the Oldsmobile Aurora ( Poor gas Mileage, unproven motor). I found my Riviera with 64,000 miles on it and in perfect condition. I had the dealer install new rotors and pads on the front and replace the serpentine belts. The leather seats are big and comfortable and the supercarged 3800 makes the car go suprisingly quick. This is not a sports car, its a sporty luxury cruiser. The car is very roomy for a 2 door and has many creature comforts in the interior and a large trunk. From every angle one can look at this car the sleek styling is an engineering marval.

Strength:

Comfort, power, and class. This car is the ultimate when it comes to appearance. The controls are easily accessible and you feel a sense of security while driving. It handles well in snow or on wet pavement.

Weakness:

Stereo system and brakes. Am on my second set of rotors already. The felt interior is too cheap for the price you have to pay for the car.

My Rieviera is truly a beauty when it comes to appearance. It has class and style. People take a second look whenever they see it. It''s not a car that everone else has. However, I have had nothing but problems with it since it hit 80,000 miles. I have had the transmission replaced, the front rotors, brakes all around, the front wheel bearing and now the gasket behind the timing chain cover is spewing oil. With a car like this, Iyou wouldn''t think these things should go bad. I have always babied this car and took care of it. What''s up?

Size, Speed, and is fully loaded!!!

Weakness:

Stereo system, and dashboard(to boring)

I had a 1996 Buick riviera and it drives like a dream. It looks cool and it drives like a rocket. I am glad to be one of the few who has the chance to drive one. It bought the riviera because I wanted a car that not everybody had. Sure i could of bought a mustang, but every where you look, some has a mustang. I would recomend a riviera to anyone who wants a nice luxury to drive and show off. I got my riviera with 76,000 miles and i have over 92,000 right now with very little problems. Its a great deal!!!

Strength:

The power is amazing ,will really go when you need it to. I love fast cars and this one truly is . I have dusted quite a few Mustangs 5.0''s because they underestimated my big ol'' Buick. It rides like a dream and handles really well.Low maintenance too. Our only problem was we had to replace the water pump at 6300 miles and I am at almost 100000 miles no with no problems.Fuel economy is amazing with this much power.

Weakness:

The paint . GM has always had paint problems as far as endurance is concerned.Nothing major though and I do believe they could''ve done better in the stereo department.

If ever i lusted after a car it was this one from the first time I saw it.It is a very sensual looking car with lots of power and it looks nothing like anything else on the road. I looked this week at the new Buick SUV Rendezous and it is nice but doesn''t come near the luxury and horsepower of the Riviera. I was offered a real good deal to trade but in reality I could not see myself in it and without my Riv !

Really gets out in interstate traffic in a flash. Looks good and is a dream to drive. You want get many negatives from me.I looked at the new Buick Rendezous and was offered a REALLY good deal but just could not see myself in anything other than my Riviera. All the SUV''s look alike. They have no individuality like my Riv and are very sluggish in comparison to my Riv !

Weakness:

The quality of paint could be better. The stereo system could be better but the overall performance of the car is excellent !

If ever I lusted after a vehicle it was this one. It looks like none other on the road and that is a real plus for me. It is sensual and fast. I love fast cars and I love luxury and comfort and this car has both.I bought this car in 9-98 with 27000 miles on it now is almost at 100000 and no major problems. The worst has been a water pump at about 63000 miles. The lines are beautiful and sleek and it looks fast and so many people ask me , "What kind of car is that, it''s beautiful ". I have really blown the doors off some fast 5.0 Mustangs. They just don''t see a big ol" Buick as being fast !

Strength:

Fast, smooth and comfortable. I drive about 600 miles a week and I love every minute of it. Very little mechanical trouble. Reliable motor and I have had no major problems.

Weakness:

I have trouble with breaks as well as the windows whistling. They only are good about the first week after you have them re-aligned. I also have a huge problem with the GM service. There service is the worst I have found. Every time they do anything, even an oil change, there ends up something being done wrong. I have also had trouble with the interier. My leather on one seat has cracked and changed color. The felt pannelling inside has come apart in places. My moon roof doesn't close perfectly unless you hold your breath just right. The little things piss me off but I can live with them.

I Love this car. Absolutely love it. Its fast, smooth, comfortable and truely a luxury sports car. I've owned the car for a year and put 25000 miles on it and it is still holding its value. I could sell it today for what I paid for it.

Strength:

The 3.8 liter supercharged V6 will definately put you in the seat. Most people ride in the car and are surprised at its acceleration. The interior in the car has pleanty of gadgets to mess with as well as a decent stereo. The car has a lot of class. You can turn off the traction control and floor it and the tires will burn till there is no end. No current engine problems after 120,000 miles.

Weakness:

The weight of this car hurts it most of all. The engine shutting off at 110 mph is also disapointing. The car was not made to take curves real well either.

The Riviera is fast sleek and stylish. It will get you there when you need it to with a touch of class.

Model Reviewed: 2 dr Supercharged

Strength:

I love the Riv's power, though it is a heavy car. It looks great, and the interior is full of thoughtful touches. The stereo is flawless, as well. Nobody ever whines about having to sit in back - it has uncommonly comfy rear seats for a 2 dr. Wonderfully quiet and smooth. I really like the big 2 dr nature of this beast. With the windows down and the stereo up, its a lot of fun. The trunk is cavernous, as well.

Weakness:

The car is too heavy for its own good, I think. A 70 yr old wouldn't mind its performance, but the styling sells to much younger buyers, so it seems like Buick sort of mismatched performance and styling. Some dash bits are bit cheesy, and I'm glad I don't have young kids that mess around with it, because I'm sure they'd break on bend something. Also, the ride can be considered a bit too comfy. I find myself almost falling asleep in it sometimes.

I got a GREAT price on this car, and haven't had any problems. Granted, its not a 'sports sedan' like its billed to be, but its sure is a great value for one heck of a lot of car. I'd recommend that you at least test drive one, though its not what everyone is looking for.
