Strength:

With the right tuning and performance upgrades you'll be able to smoke the new mustang's and camaro's and all the Vtecs you can eat. Don't believe me? Don't worry, you'll run into one of us sooner or later.

Weakness:

Not enough after market companies to choose from, everyone is getting the same parts and is leaving less room for creativity, monopoly sucks!

I have had no major problems with my car and believe me i torture her and drive her very hard. As long as you keep up with preventive maintanence
they are as reliable as, dare I say? a civic. I have been very fortunate since the 95 Z24 is the only year that they used a quad 4 and people are very fearful of them for having a bad rap, but I have had the best time with my car and will continue to until I'm out of college, then I hope to move on to an Audi TT, unless the supercharged cavis are released.

comprehensive sports package. Power everything, traction control, ABS, break away mirrors, electic mirrors, cruise...you name it, its there, a total package (oh yeah.. 5 mph bumpers!! bye bye fender bender). The car is fast (torquey)!! Its an auto tranny, but let me tell ya, I have already smoked Honda csi's, eclipses, even celica's(GT). I love the 16 inch aluminum low profiles, which grip the road well, and look cool. (killer CD system!!) The cars handle very well in the snow!! its like a subaru outback, with the traction control and ABS!! once the back end almost sliped out on me, but the traction control indicator lit up and the thing totally corrected itself!! I drove home smoothly in the worst snow storm in chicagoland histroy!! on the way I saw countless cars that got into nasty wrecks. PLEASE get traction control + ABS, it will save your life!

Weakness:

I don't have a sun roof. and thats it! so far so good, only very minor repairs. Winshield wipers for the back glass could have been nice. Also visibility takes a bit getting used to when trying to back out. Thats it!! its awesome man. Those who write sorry reviews of this cars, just don't own it to begin with. They can go to blazes in their civics, celicas, and eclipses!!

This car is cool!! test drive one for yourself, then decide!! get the Z24 version, because the engine is so much better that the base cava!! Don't give up on domestics!! even the so called Honda csi's got nothing on this car!! You get so many cool standard features with the Z24, that are either (pay up the bum) optional on other competitors, or not available. You cannot even get ABS on a civic, only on the EX model, and then you have to pay more. Its standard on the Z24!! Oh and forget about traction, its not even available!! Give this car and the sunfire GT a chance, you won't regret it!! screw the silly kids, that give poor ratings, you'll pass their rice burners up on the highway real easily!!

Strength:

Reliable, 100% Reliable, Strong engine for size and class, Fair Manual Trans. Easy to repair. Sturdy body.

Weakness:

Stearing often goes out of alignment, Rattles in Dashboard, Angle of windshield heats up car from sun too much. (Manual)Clutch is hydrolic... This means its mushy in the summer and frozen in the winter. Engine has high pitched electrical noise. Underbody prone to rusting.

I have had absolutely no major problems with this car. It now has almost 90k miles on it... My ABS sensor failed once, i fixed it by disconecting my battery from my car for 5 minutes(this fixes alot of computer related problems). I have driven this car hard, fast and in just one year put over 20 thousand miles on it. Very good car for the price, great reliability.

Strength:

Car has nice pickup for a small car, nice interior, nice looks, smooth ride for 4 cylinder, great gas milage

Weakness:

It could use a better sound system(getting it replaced), engine has very unusual shaking when stopped in traffic or in park(getting that checked real soon), besides that none.

Have had the car for little over a month, great value, it has not given me any problems, and it is an inexpensive car that gives enough needed power and great looks. Had a Chevy Corsica previously, that thing emptied my wallet completely!!! Everything that could've went wrong with it did. Very satisfied with the Cavalier so far, it has restored my faith in Chevrolet. Would definately recommend it for anyone who is looking for a good, reliable, stylish car at a good, reasonable price!

Strength:

Its a great 1st car. Its cute, sporty, and has great gas mileage. Ive only had it for a little while, but I love it and it was cheap.

Weakness:

It has bad road noise, and some blindspots. The rear window fogs up bad, and its impossible to see out of.

Overall, for the money its a graet car. It gets great car mileage and is great for a first time car. If your not looking to spend much this is a wonderful car.

Weakness:

well my brakes are bad
check engine light comes on all the time for no reason
frequently stalls at stop signs, stop lights. i took it it and they said it was a valve so i spent $250.00 to get that replaced and they day i got it back it acted no different and now i was $250.00 poorer. it has no cup holders heater doesn't run as powerful as it should

i was so excited when i got the car. It was cheap, but after frequent mechanic bills i wish i would have read something like this before i bought it. i recommend this car if you extra money for repairs later on.

Strength:

Easy for stereo installation. All of the panels just snap off.
Decent reliability for an american car.

Weakness:

The dash rattles, the hood rattles, the console rattles, the doors rattle, sounds like it is falling apart. (result of the snap off panels)
Poor acceleration, won't start in the cold, not too reliable.

This car is extremly cheaply made. The dash layout sucks and it has terrible acceleration. The Z24 has fair low end torque, but seems to me even more unreliable. I would definately NOT recomend purchasing a cavalier. I put new rotors and brake pads on about 4 months ago and am already feeling heavy vibrations when braking.
Driving in the snow sucks! I slid off of the road going 15.

DO NOT BUY A CAVALIER.

Strength:

fantastic pickup, great cd player, great gas($15 fills it up completely), very sporty, good control, brakes good, very quiet car(easy to forget it's on),day running lights, power window buttons in between front seats(my arm is usually there while driving so easily accessible), confortable seats, horn sounds cute(yes it's lame:)really everything about it, I love this car!people are always stopping me to compliment me on my car.MUSTANG EAT MY DUST!

Weakness:

sharp turns left theres a large clanking sound, ABS, side impact supposedly not good), convertable tops get small spots after one rain, struts.when cold the dashboard squeaks(but when it's warm it's fine, good thing i live in florida),rear window too small to see out on convertables make it a little a bigger.

I recommend this car to anyone. teenagers cause it's cheap, I'm in college and so i need a cheaper car, the gas is great, insurance is great. even old guys going through change of life, it's sporty but doesn't cost much.maybe about the only people i would not recommend it to is people with kids because the side impact thing. one thing i would recommend though if chevy is reading this, make them look a little different, you can't tell a 96 from a 2000.

everything else

exterior - looks nice, thick body panels compared to jap scrap
interior - everything looks less than a $1, very cheap material

great first car for me, but most likely would not buy another one
i agree with all you people that gave this car a not so good rating. Anyone who has driven a volkswagen, honda, mitsubishi, toyota, or even a kia would know how much the cavalier sucks. Quality of metal everwhere on this car is great, but fabrics and plastics are horrible. I have owned several foreign cars and only like one thing about american vehicles; the quality of metal they use. Otherwize american cars have been and still are loosing the battle of the imports. All the cars i have mentioned could outcorner a cavalier any day, wet, dry, snow, you name it. I smoked a curb with this car due retarded suspension design and cheap factory tires (which, i can't really blame anyone, dealers and chevy wants to make money, and save on this and that). Even the cavalier has opted for a german made manual tranmission due to GM manufactured junk. I would not recommend anyone to buy this car unless you are a fan of good engines and transmissions because everything else is junk.
