Strength:

no problems in 8 years, decent acceleration in the city, great mileage

Weakness:

passing on the highway is an adventure in nerve

This has been a fantastic car. In 8 years I put in a new alternator. Other than brakes, tires, and regular oil, I have not put a dime into the car. it runs great. I love it. It is now time to move on (bmw or audi) but I just wanted to express my complete satisfaction with this car. And, if anyone wants to buy it ... lemme know

Strength:

Great gas mileage and it's not a compact(metro).

Weakness:

Road noise.

I've had no problems with my car from day one. I have 107,500 on mine and I stil get 34.5 mpg. I have no problems with rust or anything. I would say it's been the best overall car I've bought.

Strength:

Maybe the stock speakers it comes with?

Weakness:

The car sucks so much, no need to list, I would be here forever

First of all, my dad purchased this car and I've been buying it from him so I didn't pick it. We got a good deal for $1800 for it being a 1991 with only 43000 miles. Ever since we bought it though we have had to do nothing but repairs including a new radiator, cerpentine belt, tensioner, and many other costly repairs. It has costed us so far like $1000 and in my opinion should be thrown in the trash, the whole car is rust. There is also a hole in the power steering tube causing the fluid to leak a lot, I have to go to the store every week and buy another bottle of power steering liquid to fill it up with, all in all, I absoulutely hate this car.

Strength:

Sporty looking, great highway mileage, nice a/c system. Comfortable.

Weakness:

Not a real fast car.

When I was looking for my first semi-new car, I wanted a Toyota or Honda, but the Cavalier was much cheaper and I got it w/ 22k miles. Gas mileage has been 23 city & a superb 31 on the highway. I got the 2.2L model w/ many extras. It has the cd player, power locks, sunroof & a conservative spoiler that adds a sporty look to the car. This car likes the highway & definetly feels comfortable at high speeds. Not to mention my passengers in the back are very comfortable w/ lots of headroom. The only thing I would change is I would like to try the Z-24 engine. 150 horsepower is a lot for a small car. This car is a great value for someone on a budget.

Test drove a Saturn. The cavalier's base engine is definetly a little quicker. Drove a Nissan Sentra before this car has better mpg & is quicker.

Strength:

GM's 2.2L engine, size, comfort, quiet ride, looks, reliable quiet highway driving with 34 mpg (with 17" rims)

Weakness:

It pollutes the environment...

If you want the best american compact look no further than the Chevy Cavalier/Pontiac Sunfire. Ford Focus = Recalls & poor reliability. Dodge Neon = Unrefined & Disappointing. Yeah sure you can get a Civic but they're boring cars and everyone has one. Why look like you're from Asia? The Cavalier is the best import fighter around. I'm very happy with my car, the design is great! Featuring GM's reliable 2.2L 115-hp (these things are known to run forever), this car is a great value. Suprizingly I can take my family on 3 day trips comfortably, something that most compacts can't do. There's a lot of room and the seats are great. Cavaliers that are built in GM's Lordstown assembly are very reliable and well built compaired to the Cavaliers built in Mexico. I've been to the Lordstown assembly because I know some people that work there and I had the treat of seeing Cavaliers and Sunfires being put together. It's a beutiful sight. This assembly has a great reputation for quality and have helped make the Cavalier one of the best values in the automobile market.

Model Reviewed: cavalier coupe 2.2l

Strength:

Great sleek look with sunroof and spoiler and mags , great looking 15"wheels on them too!!! Black is the way to go with cavs and nothing else. The mags stand out and the z22 lettering too. Performs surprisingly well with the 2.2l with a manual of course DO NOT BUY WITH AUTOMATIC.

Weakness:

Interior is a little boring but with creativity, you can make it less boring... radio does not work good , bad reception on fm but CD is good , works good , Ac delco speakers are cheap tho.

This car is a GM yes, who cares ok, it's a great looking car compared to the jetta , civic (even the hatchback!!!) and the protege(style is old on that car) , anyway, a beauty and i don't care what people say, it runs good when you put it on 4th gear , for a 2.2l , it runs pretty descent and has some punch. I had no problems yet with the car (knock on wood). It is better than the automatic for sure , i tried the automatic and it does not compare to the manual getrag, no comparison , it works better on hills and trust me we have hills in canada.

I'm very happy with this car! I would recommend anyone to buy this car, it's reliable, cheap and practical!

Strength:

It screams. For a 4 banger this car rides. That's the beauty with american cars, they are and always will be fast (except the Fords that you'll see broken down on the side of the road, that's why Fords arn't well known for racing). The handling is very stable too, with the right wheels it cuts through corners at high speed very smoothly.

Weakness:

This car is under-rated, but in a way that's good. No one thinks a Cavalier can beat them in a race, but then they find out how stupid they are.

This car really rides nice. Here in LA there's a bit of a competition for fast and hooked up cars. My Z with 18" rims really rides down the roads nice, I've beaten my share of Japanese cars. I drive this car hard and it always puts up with everything without a fuss. There's no doubt in my mind that the car will start tomorrow and I'll be flyin' down the streets of LA once again. So far this is the only car that can handle the abuse, my Ford Focus broke (what a pos), my Dodge Intrepid broke, my Ford Mustang broke (that car was slow too). I know a reliable car when I drive one, and this car has it. Trust me, if you take care of this car it won't let you down.
