Strength:

The speakers in the car were good until I hooked up an after-market deck and blew the front two 4x6's. The car seems to tow the boat real well

Weakness:

Well, I don't know where to start but the style of suspension that is used on not only the malibu but every other mid-size car such as the malibu is crap and i'm sure GM knew about. Well guess what? that just means more money for them

I thought the car was good when i first bought it. When I test drove it, i heard the clunk noise and thought nothing of it. After i purchased the car and about a month later, the ABS light came on the the brakes began to malfunction when the light came on. It has been about 8 months now since I bought it and the front end makes a horrible creaking sound when I take off. I have replaced the rotors and used high performance brake pads at about 45,000 miles. Nothing has gone wrong with the A/C yet (knock on wood) and everything else seems to be doing fine. The whole front end does feel a little lose. The way I see it, i'll just keep towing my fishing boat with it and pray that one of these times when I unload the boat, i'll unload the car in the lake :)

I first started out with a rusted up Ford Bronco. After I put about $1,000 into it, it ran like new. Ever since I traded that in for this so called "CAR", I say to myself that I need to be put in a st

Strength:

Its American and it has good power.

Weakness:

See my commentary above. So much wrong with this car.

I can't believe that I am going to say this because I want to support American products...however...RUN!Don't walk. Don't even think about it! Get away from this car! It is garbage! I have owned the car for 2 1/2 years, driven it 29,000 miles and have never experienced going to the dealership for a simple oil change. There is always something else to be done. I have had A/C computers changed 2 times, my steering rack replaced, a control arm on my steering needed to be repaired, electrical problems, brakes replaced twice, collant system repaired, fuel lines repaired, rear window molding replaced, cruise control repaired, side view mirror replaced, window switches replaced, the exhuast system repaired, etc. If it wan't for the warranty, I would be in the poor house. I didn't buy the extended warranty at the time which was my mistake. I have been in contact with Chevy on many occassions, asking for help. A free extended warranty for troubles and my belief that this is only the beginning. They basically have blown me off on every occassion. There contention is that there is no major problems with the car and therefore it doesn't warrant the warranty-which they give if its serious enough. I don't know what is their definition of major. Maybe if my engine exploded??? I don't know. This is hard for me to say because I grew up in a Chevy family, but I am saying it-I will never buy a Chevy again. They made a crappy product, took my money and then abondoned me. Awful...I say again run away!

this car has a lot of power. i feel if it wasn't for the brakes it would be a great car.

Weakness:

defect and weakness in the braking system.

i am a law abiding female driverand liked the looks of the malibu. i was looking for a car that would get me to work{about 70 miles, round trip} and back home without a problem. i went to a dealer i never did business with before. not knowing about the weaknesses of this car, i bought it and had to hace brakes put in at 11,000 miles.there has to be a defect in the braking system. i wish the dealer could have been more honest.

Strength:

Great head-room. Good stereo. Runs great. Good pickup. Nice interior. Great trunk-space.

Weakness:

Haven't found any yet...

I'm writing this review to stand up for my car. Apparently I got lucky and found one of the only trouble-free Malibu's on the road. I've had the car for almost two years, 51000 miles, and have had NO PROBLEMS. I did have to have the brake pads changed at around 35000 miles, but I don't consider that a big deal.

Strength:

Had nice sound until my speakers blew.

Weakness:

The cheeziest interior I've ever seen along with the fact the car is total crap!

It's one big non stop problem. I would never have bought this piece of crap if I had known! And now I owe too much to get out of it.For three of the four years I have owned it there was a terrible clunking sound coming from the front end when I drove over bumps.Mechanics couldn't diagnose it until I found one guy who called GM and asked "what is this noise". GM told him the control arms have fallen of the frame in many malibus, but not enough to recall.Sounds safe!!!I've had Several sets of brakes, constantly filling the coolant, seen random dash board lights appear and been left stranded twice in the past year!MY ABS light has been on for three years-the code says low voltage to my brakes!Everything that goes wrong turns into a major ordeal!!

Strength:

appearance, power, handling

Weakness:

none

I purchased an LS fully loaded with 23K for $10000, and so far it appears to be the best vehicle I've ever owned. It handles well, is mechanically sound, and packs a lot of bang for the buck. I hope it stays this way.

Strength:

Features to price ratio, looks, room, weight to power ratio, and large truck. Also like the sunroof.

Weakness:

Road noises, fit and finish, and engine noise on start up.

I just purchased a 2002 Malibu LS primarily due to the features to cost ration relative to similar vehicles of the same class. After reading numerous reviews by current Malibu owners, I’m curious why a number of them have not pursued their natural legal rights vie the lemon law. Currently I’m satisfied with my Malibu, but I’ve only had for 5 Days with 153 miles on it. I had similar problems when I brought a 1997 Dodge Intrepid and was at a loss on what to do. After researching Louisiana Lemon Laws, I discovered that I had so other recourse other than fighting with the Dealership every other week. Bottom line, I won a settlement from the manufacturer and dealership after 16 months of litigation which proved well worth the effort considering that I was upside down on the car (owed more than the car was worth). Look, Keep your service orders, read Lemon Laws for State, and contact a lawyer.

Strength:

The sound system is nice.

Weakness:

Just about everything.

I've had this car for about one year. I just had the brakes replaced at 15,000 miles. I haven't had any more problems with this car. Their is a problem with the brakes on the malibu. I never had to replace the brakes at 15,000. When the dealer (Allen Samuels) he told me I needed new brake pads. I ask him did he received a bulletin from the manufacture stating the problems with the brakes. He did not say anything for about 30 seconds. I ask him again and he stated he had not. I would not recommend anyone to buy this car. I am really considering taking a hit just to get out of the thing.

The car had getup and go. It was roomy inside. And I could drive for many miles on "E".The stereo never gave me any problems. I did really love my car dispite the issues.

Weakness:

Brakes. The were just gone one day.Unknown turn signal problems.

I loved my car. It was my first new car. I had the car for just over two years when I got into an accident and totalled the car. (I still don't remember turning the wheel to the right but that's the way the car went. Now its gone.) I had toreplace the brakes and rotars after 30,000 miles and there was no warning just all of a sudden brakes were gone and then that awful grinding noise. The air conditioner was very good as long as it was on the setting it wanted to be on. I could n't quit understand why the car seemed to choice whether or not I wanted to circulate that air inside the car or fro the outside. Also, the turnsignlas were aroyal pain in the butt! One second they worked and the next the didn't.After 37000 miles I was told I needed new tires. Didn't get a chance to get them.
