Strength:

It drove

Weakness:

Its ignition/computer

There really is not much to say.I rented the car and the next day I tried to start it and the ignition locked. It was great car for 24 hrs.Actually AAA is towing it as we speak. I was told that this is a common problem with this car and if I would've known about this web site before than I would've saved alot of $$. I came outside to began my vacation in this new rental vehicle and when I went to start the car I could not get the car out of park nor would the key turn. The tower recommended another vehicle and said that this car is a piece of junk and that this is a common problem. So PLEEEEEEEAAAAASE BE AWARE..................

Strength:

a lot of room and power - plus it is really good on gas so far

Weakness:

sqeaky brakes and intake going at 36,000 miles

We bought this car thinking that it was going to be reliable. Big mistake. At first only a couple "little" problems like the usual air conditioning button shutting itself off and the dome light likes to stay on. But now the intake manifold gasket is leakig coolant(about an $800.00 problem if Chevy fixes it). The mileage just hit 36,000 a week ago, so of course Chevy won't fix it. If I would have read this page I would never have bought this car.I do not feel like being nickled and dimed to death like my last car.

Strength:

Perfect car to mod, it's the right size to become the ultimate pocket rocket that will blow any ricer away. Reliability has been unbelievable, the engine handles everything and continues to perform in the hottest races.

Weakness:

Not enough room for Race-Tech's Ultra Kompressor unit but that's ok.

This is the award winning Malibu that has yet to be beat by any other Malibus in the continent. This is what I did to my new car after I bought it:

and more...

I now have measured 640-hp with this car and I've never had any problems with it. Considering the fact it's a race car it gets stunning gas milage (it even runs on 93 octane) and reliability. Everything works great on it, and this is the experience of my life. This is my dream car, and this must is heaven.

excellence vehicle. i don't know how people drive but i have 54,000 plus miles on my malibu and i haven't had any problems with the vehicle. i had to replace the brakes at 35,000 miles. thats normal. i think people need to easy of the brake pedal when driving. this is my second car and i love every part of it. maybe i got lucky. but word of advice is just take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you.

i recommend this care to all except aggressive drivers. you people are the ones that give malibu's bad names.

Strength:

It starts

Weakness:

Entire car

This car is a tremendous piece of crap. It seems like a good buy at first, then it falls apart at 30,000 miles. It needs new rotors every 4000 miles.

At 30K it developed a suspension squeek the dealer couldn't find. The transmission began to slip, the steering began to make a grinding noise, the turn signals and brake lights stopped working, the sunroof jammed, the stereo and air conditioning both needed to be replaced, and all of the windows needed to be oiled YET AGAIN.

On top of that, I bought it for 20K, I still owe about 15K, and it's worth about 9K so I can't even unload this piece of crap before the warranty runs out.

Strength:

Reliable, quiet, smooth.

Weakness:

BRAKES SUCK! Had them machined at 8000 kms, replaced at 28000 kms all under warrenty. Now at 37000 kms the rotors are warped again and GM will do nothing.

Not a bad car other than the BRAKES! As I've read through all the other reviews I keep seeing the same problems. Bad Brakes, problems with the AC ect. I had a problem with my AC shutting itself off. It was a bad seal at the compressor and was replaced under warrenty. The radio also gave me a problem but was repaired under warrenty. The wire from the radio to the antenna needed to be rerouted. Also the Alum rim's are a mess. I found on another web site GM knows about this and has a procedure to fix it (alldata.com). I guess if you don't mention it to them they won't do anything though. Now the Brakes! I'm in the middle of a war with the GM Customer Service line now. They're trying to tell me that its my fault the rotor's keep warping. They almost had me convinced until I found this site. Obviously there needs to be a recall on the brakes. Putting new rotor's on doesn't help, as I found out.
Anyway, other than the minor problems and the stinking brakes, not a bad car.
