Strength:
I like the looks of the car. It has pretty good power. Interior room - much bigger than it looks from the outside.
Weakness:
Gas mileage, Doors - really heavy, blind spots I think this car is great. It has a nice, sleek look. I was looking more for a fuel efficient car, but this fits my needs. If I had to complain about the design of the car, I'd complain about the front end of the car - the hood and the lower bumper comes up to a point (those of you who own a '98 or '99 model know's what I'm talking about). turn radius I have had a great experience with my Monte. I drove it hard every day about 200 miles a day I have had no problems at all. Except the ussuall changing tires and brakes of course. I keep it in mint condition. My family has four chevys and we have not had many serious problems with them. Similar Products Used: Chevy lumina, Grand AM |

It's a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Looks, Performance, Value, New car warranty
Weakness:
Rear seat entry & egress I purchased this car for my dear wife. She certainly does deserve it. It was a replacement for a 1996 Lumnina which we still own. After having the opportunity of driving it myself, I was thoroughly impressed! The performance amazed me. No wonder NASCAR chose this particular design, besides that of it's sleekness. She picked out Torch Red. It was what she wanted. I liked the Black SS I saw. They presented a Great deal,so I signed my life away for a couple years. She certainly does deserve this Monte Scarlet. Strength:
The car compliments me incredibly. It is strong, furious and stylish- i can blow any camaro off of the road- with the souped 4.3 engine.
Weakness:
Cigarette lighter shoots out and almost egnites the car on fire each time it is utilized. i am most definitley in love with my car- with my CARLO! Similar Products Used: I have driven am '89 Caprice as well as '94 Ford- which was a mistake. The Caprice is a bit more luxurious, yet my monte can blow it's 350 engine with the four barrel carb away. which bring me immense joy. |

-city mileage sucks, great highway mileage though. I bought her for 1650, talked the seller down from 2300, it was in pretty decent shape little rust rebuilt 350 motor mildly souped up cam, intake, and carburator it had'nt even been broken in. At first I was looking for a newer SS monte but found this and liked it even better. Iknow it looks big but it not that bad and only weighs 3150 lbs. It's fast I love spanking my friend' rides at school in it, raced and beat: a camaro Z-28, a souped up Volkswagon, a ford probe, a brand new pontaic firebird formula, 2000 F-150, Mustang 5.0, just to name a few. I did however loose to a 34 Plymouth coupe but it DID have a souped up 454 in it gave him a run for his money though. Car hasent ever givin me a problem or left me stranded, even though i drove it pretty hard for a few days not knowing it was down 5 quarts(that's all of it). Styling, ride, handling.
Weakness:
Chevy stopped making the "old-style" Monte & began making the atrocious "new" body style (2000 and newer). Love it. I've had several cars, pick-ups, Jeeps, etc. over the years. This is by far the best car I've ever owned. I bought it used (1 yr. old) in '98, and have not had a bit of trouble with it. I made a few modifications to it, such as a spoiler, stereo upgrade, wheels & performance tires, performance (Eibach Pro-Kit) springs, and it rides & handles great. Strength:
it got the power and speed, ABS system is good. Driving the car is a bad idea, you will run into major problems.
Weakness:
There no reliabilty, everything or anything involving repairs will cost big dollars. Tuneup 500 dollars, changing the alternator 800 dollars, transmission only god knows. Going into July of this year my alternator die and I paid to replace it, that costs about 800 dollars. Now on July 28, 2001 my Monte Carlo turn into a lemon once again, the car was in drive my foot is off the brake, the parking brake was off and this car would not roll, I touched the gas and the RPMs moved and nothing happened this car would not move. Problems with the transmission is the last thing any owner would want to deal with. If you live in Canada you don't want this particular car. Where the hell should I start, I purchased my Monte Carlo on April 24, 2001 from a dealership. I have had no problems for the months of May and June. After reading all the reviews on this website my final thoughts would be to fix the problem and sell the car. I noticed that most Monte Carlo owners have had problems with the transmission, alternators timing belts and brakes. I not wild person to hard drive this car, but I realize this Monte Carlo Z34 model should be a showroom. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Power, comfy, and if you have a black one, it looks really good with GTS blackout kits. Stock speakers are surprisingly good.
Weakness:
Hard to work on. Well, from reading all the reviews here, I guess I got a good one! This car is very fast for what it has. Every now and again I will smoke 3 series BMWs (up to a 325 that is) and they never saw it coming. I call her the Rice Wagon because that's what I do with it, smoke rice. Nothing I hate more than a souped up Honda Civic. Hey, you paid 14K base, installed 5K worth of rice crap, and I can still smoke you. HA! This car hasn't given me any problems out of the ordinary. At about 78k the timing belt broke while I was making a turn but I didn't know it was the timing belt, the car just died. So I pushed it onto a side street, cranked it a few times and nothing. When I found out it was the timing belt I couldn't believe it! I thought when those snapped your engine was f'd for good. Only cost me $900 for the labor, belt, and a couple of pulleys. I run this thing from Phoenix to San Diego about once every two months with my foot on the floor and it still makes it. Just rolled to 88k last week and it's still running strong. Only mod to this car was a new stereo and GTS blackout kit. Hopefully it can make it until I have the downpayment for the Chevy Trailblazer. Finally, a Chevy with a locking rear differential.
