Strength:

Beautiful & Classy look

Weakness:

The problems in the review.

I have 64000 miles on the car and I have to replace part of the cooling system (not radiator) and thermostat. My brother had to do the same thing in his Intrepid since they have the same engine. My airbag light keeps coming on again and I have a leak in the seal around the top passenger side and in the back seat windows. I have had this seal replaced twice already.I am worried that there are more problems to come. I love the car but not sure if I would buy another. If the newer engines are built the same then probably not.

Great car if you travel alot! Hwy mileage is wonderful!- invest in nice tires and will improve the already flawless handling

Weakness:

If your a large(heavy weight) person, don't even try it, the steering wheel won't tilt high enough for you...

Okay... this was the BEST car that I've EVER owned and doubt I will ever find another one like it...(idiot blew a stop sign and riped out my rear suspension..sniff) My Sebring was a 2.0 4cyl 16 valve 5 speed and I loved it! It had great acceleration from the day I bought it til the day it was killed(I pruchased it used with 80,000 miles on it) It had 210,000 miles on it when it was totaled. Never needed a clutch or anything. Was getting almost 40 mpg commuting to work. You can't go wrong with this car. I recently pruchased it's cousin the Dodge Stratus 2dr Coupe and love it too... except it's an automatic.........

Comfortable, roomy

Weakness:

Door checks
Rear visibility
Plastic parts scratch a little too easily

I love this car! After four years I have about 50K miles on it. Biggest problem was having to replace door checks on both of the heavy doors. Also have to make sure windows are "set" properly (always lower all the way down and then back up) or can get the usual convertible leaks. Some minor wiring issues - brake light, AC control. Power & acceleration are great and brakes are still at 50 percent. Terrific car for long trips, love the road feel, very comfortable to drive, ride in, and can pack a ton of stuff in it. Feels much safer in the winter than my old Mustang. I will keep it till the wheels fall off and then buy another.

I looking into buying a 1999 Chrysler Sebring 2 dr Coupe LXi. There is one available in my area and so I thought I'd read up on some reviews on the car. These reviews nearly made me think negatively about purchasing this vehicle when I have the money, until I noticed a pattern. All of the negative reviews were on the convertible, not the car. And I noticed all of the bad stuff that was happening to the Sebrings were the newer cars, not the older ones, for the most part. I took the car I might buy for a test drive. The inside was really nice. It's a pretty powerful car. It has 97,000 miles on it, brakes were good, it was in excellent condition, there was a rattling that was going on in the back, but that disapeared after a while on the road. [It hadn't been driven in a long time.] I was really surprised at how spacious it was. I think it's a hot looking car, and I'm excited to think that I might own one! =)

Strength:

Looks great. Handles well. Peppy now that I have a new engine. Comfortable ride and comfortable drivers compartment. Cloth upholstry is easy to keep clean and comfortable in 100+ temps.

Weakness:

Engine blew at 74,000. Air bag light keeps coming on, and the part that keeps breaking is not covered under the Chrysler warranty. All convertibles have a small trunk.

I bought this car at 23,000 miles and it now has 75,000. I love my car, even though I have some trouble. I have an ongoing problem with the air bag light coming on and have twice had to replace the same passenger seat belt part. It is giving me trouble again, and is not covered by the warranty. I had a mystery electrical problem where the guages would go crazy when I started the car and it wouldn't shift out of park, and the dealer couldn't find the problem. My husband fixed it by cleaning the ground contact and I haven't had the problem since. The sun visor clips have each broken once. The thread on my rear window came loose (which increased the wind noise) and I was told that to fix this I would have to replace the entire top, so I glued it. The engine was replaced at 74,000 miles due to antifreeze in the oil and a loud ticking coming from the bottom of the engine...thank god I bought the expensive 100,000 mile Chrysler warranty! The car is now peppier than it had been. The gas mileage is 25 mpg country driving, and on my long trips across the country I get 28. Overall this is a great car. It has a roomy backseat, as far as convertibles go. I have tall boys and they fit comfortably in the front and back seats, even when we spend 12 hours on the road. The trunk is a respectable size and much larger than my LeBaron convertibles. The wind noise is minimal. I have no leaks. The drivers seat is comfortable and I love the passenger compartment. The ride is smooth and it handles nicely. I have gotten many miles of enjoyment out of it. It does have big blind spots and is very hard to back out of parking spots.

Fun to drive and has good looks for a convertible. I was surprised that it gets good gas mileage and has room for two adults in the back seat.

Weakness:

auto day/night mirror very slow to change at night time.

So far the car has had no major problems. The car was in excellent condition when we took delivery with only 48000 miles on it. The wife just drives the car during the summer months and we store it during the winter. When we first registered the vehicle we had five recalls and all parts where replaced.

Strength:

Style, Class, POWER and pickup, comfortable steering.

Weakness:

There is a slight jerk in the transmission when it downshifts at very low speeds. The cure....don't slow down.

Over the first week i have owned my Sebring i have experienced nothing but joy.(knock, knock) I have to have one of the rear wheels replaced but the dealer is paying for it and of course you can't replace just one so i have to buy one as well. The car had 33, 000 KMs on it when i bought it. The only leaks i have found were when i went through a brushless car wash. (which i have read in many different places that it is ok) I think the pressure from the water caused the leak to happen in the rear corners of the rear windows. The only wind noise i hear with the top up is when the 2.7Ltr V6 is pulling this baby down the road at comfortable speeds of 160Kms/hr +. This car is a real head jerker. I had one account client of mine offer me her daughter already.(LOL) With every make and model you are going to have some lemons. I hope i have heard of all the lemons on this board and there is no more. Which would be about 5 in the 2002 model year. Cheers and happy trials. October 6, 2004

Weakness:

hesitant tranny, windows seem to be shaky (taking it in to have the dealer look at it)

Awesome Car!! I just turned 21 and i own a new convertible!! Does it actually get any better?!? Nothing better than putting the top down on a hot day. This car is very luzurious. I bought it used with 16k miles on it. i extended the warranty to 100k miles instead of only 36k miles after reading the reviews just to be safe. I love to be able to pass very quickly, but the tranny seems to hesitate just a bit. Of course because it is a convertible the wind noise is quite intense, but it's to be expected.

Defective convertible tops could cause a VERY serious automobile accident...

check this site out... TBOnews.com A news reporter from Tampa Florida on channel 8 news TBO (tampa bay online) just aired this news clip last week..... I have a 1997 chrysler sebring convertible and the same problem exists for me as well...I thought I was all alone.... here's a sample of my complaint to be submitted to the chrysler corp. May 9th 2004 The thredding around my 1997 Chrysler sebring convertible top is coming loose wich will then release my windshield wich could cause a very serious accident on the road involving innocent drivers. The potential loose windshield could not only fly out at any givin moment it also could fall in to the backseat of my convertible which raises and bigger concern for me because I have my 2 year old son in his car seat. My wish is that Chrysler Corp. would recall these defective tops before they have to spend millions on law suits involving accidents with each individual owner of the sebring convertible.
