Strength:

Good running, outran a guy with a 350 chevy in his car, from 0-80, it's a strong running car, all of the ladies like it, it has a big trunk for a big system, excellent handling, same engine as eclipse but faster

Weakness:

the linear slip traction sucks, you jump off the clutch sometimes and neither wheel spins. I have 62000 miles on mine and the check engine light has come on 2 within 3000 miles, haven't gotten it serviced yet b/c it seems to be running fine. The breaks wear out before you have the money to replace them again.expensive upkeep.

Overall it's a decent car. It runs good, and hauls some serious @$$ when slightly abused. The upkeep on the car is kinda expensive, but well worth it. When i first got my car it was one of the sweetest riding cars I've ever ridden in. It rides a lot smoother than your v-8 power houses and just add a few bolt ons and it will smoke them. It could use a little more horsepower on the stock engine though. If you like driving this car is excellent for you. If you just drive every once in a while. Go ahead and get a true sports car. This is what I would call a cheap @$$es viper. But it's fine with me.

Strength:

Good looks. 17" alloys clean up nice and look great. Engine is great compared to most sedans and weak coupes, but poor compared to camaros. . . go figure. Look at the bhp numbers and torque and you'll know what to expect.

Weakness:

DODGE SERVICE SUCKS!!! I want to drive my car through the front window of my dodge dealer, and let 'em have it back! I know them well, because I'm back their all the time. WestSide Dodge in North Aurora really sucks bad.
-brakes wear quick
-upstream 02 sensor puked out at 40k
-stripped threads on exhaust manifold means that it too was replaced. . . (they say that this is common w/ 97 avengers. . . whatever)
-flat tires! bent rims! the 17" rims look good, but bend like tin foil under any pothole. The tires are expensive to replace (250 50 R17 =$115/ea from tirerack.com).
-numerous problems with interior plastic.
-doors rattle when windows down
-passenger seat never clicks in right after pulling release lever. You ALWAYS have to adjust the d#$% thing!
-transmission is weird sometimes, and shifts unsmoothly.

Basically, this car isn't one I would recommend for someone desiring a low maintenance mobile. Dodge service really, really sucks. Do your research, and don't be fooled by looks.

Strength:

Great looks, Great on gas, very peppy, Roomy enough for 5 people. Reliable and i've really racked up the kilometers I have about 150,000kms. This car is a definite must too bad the year 2000 was the last year. Still the same muffler and seems still great.

Weakness:

I had the head gasket replaced but under warranty. The brakes replaced after 70,000kms. and the oxygen sensor the changed after 100,000kms. This is all i had done really not that bad...
Chrysler dealership service really sucks though. Also get the timing belt done at the dealer or someone who already did one of them before on this car. heard a real pain.

I've had this car for almost 6 years now. It is very sleek looking car. Very good for the price.
Very roomy. Great on gas, i own the 4cyl with 5speed manual transmission. Very fun to drive even after all these years. A couple of problems but who doesn't have any.

This car runs good and looks good. It is fast and fuel efficient. It drives very well. You could ride all day in this car, it is very comfortable to ride in.

This car has no bad qualities. I LOVE MY CAR!!!

I have owned my car for about 6 months. I bought it used, I still have had no problems at all with it. I rate this car very highly. It is one of the best out there.

Strength:

I love the looks of the car. Very sporty. Roomy interior. Good gas mileage. Fully loaded...leather interior, sunroof, cd player, v6, automatic trans. I feel like I'm driving a luxury car; only its sporty!

Weakness:

Just replaced rotors and pads. The car is now in the shop for new ball joints, control arms, and lateral arms. ($2000) Hope this isn't a sign of things to come. The engine could use more pep! I am very disappointed in the amount of power. It doesn't match the looks of the car at all.

Overall I love this car. It is fun to drive. I have a feeling it will require high maintenance, but it is worth it to me.

Intrepid - The Avenger is a downsize for sure. The Intrepid had a lot more power. But the size of the Avenger is more fun to drive.

Strength:

The 2000 Dodge Avenger Sport has power, looks, handling, style, and comfort for up to 5 people. No other coupe can match it.

Weakness:

NONE!

The final year for the Dodge Avenger produced the best cars in the all too brief history of this great product. As with most Chrysler products, the final production year eliminated the bugs from the first few years of production. The car is much more stylish than the Stratus coupe which has replaced it; it has a unique look which will be viewed as a classic within ten years. If you can still find one at a dealership, grab it.

Model Reviewed: R/T Coupe

Strength:

The "Venge" has been renamed the Stratus Coupe for 2001 and is actually a Mitsubishi Eclipse with different sheet metal. The car drives great, and has the power the old venge was missing. It ain't no V-8 but it would not take much work to make this thing really scream. I test drove the stick and loved it, what a beautiful manual tranny! But I had to get the auto-stick cause the wife cant drive a stick. The auto-stick tranny is nice too it shifts very smoothly and it's fun to use the "stick" feature. The stock stereo is very good too.

Weakness:

If I have one gripe it's the lame-ass location of the second fron cup holder. I have to put the armrest up if my passenger wants a soda??
The interior materials could have been a little nicer too, although the leather seats are nice. Oh for $1000 I think Dodge should put electric controls on the passeger seat too.

After years driving an SUV this thing is a joy to drive. It's gonna be hard to beat the bang for your buck with this car. For 22K I got a car with everything except a sunroof try that with a camry or maxima. I only hope it last as long as my last Nissan did.

Similar Products Used:

Solara, Passat, Maxima, Accord, Test drove em all many times. The R/T handles better than them all. It does not ride as smooth as the Solar or Maxima but it is supposed to be a "sports car" and not a family sedan. Its Thousands less than the others though and there is no comparison in the looks dept

best looking car around IMO! - 5 star crash rating - Good gas milage - handles VERY good - has a GREAT finish on it

Weakness:

Dodge Service SUCKS the big one! BRAKES suck - to hard to see when backing up - DODGE SERVICE SUCKS! turning radius sucks - oh did i mention DODGE SERVICE? I know this is not the car's weakness...

I finally got KVR crossdrilled rotors for my 3rd set. I had the head gasket replaced @112,000 miles and haven't had any other probs other than normal wear and tear. It uses a qt. of oil between changes at 5K miles. It's been a very dependable daily driver. And i still drive like i stole it with 165,000 miles on it! Yes, i would recommend it!

Model Reviewed: Dodge Avenger

Strength:

Beautiful styling, very roomy, an engine that wouldn't quit. Monsterous trunk. Great reliability

Weakness:

The radio was a bit low on the dash and the shifter obstructed the view of the radio/clock. There also was a bad (loose) turning radius. The occasional trunk rattle

I would highly recommend the Dodge Avenger. I put over 128,000 miles on my Avenger in 4.5 years. Those miles were hard miles, as I tended to push the car to extreme levels (105 mph in 3rd gear) and I only had to have the car in the shop once to replace the master cylinder at 128,300 miles! Also, the Avenger seems to be more roomy on the inside than many 4 door sedans that I have been in (Accord, Corolla, etc....) It is a very practical car with a sporty edge.

Similar Products Used:

2001 Dodge Stratus R/T (replaced the Avenger) It is a similar car with many improvements. The 200hp engine is much smoother and has an insane ammount of power. The turning radius is much tighter and the dash is very ergonomic. The radio is in plain view and the shifter is a short stick with nice short throws.

it looks good but that's about all it has to offer

Weakness:

way to many rattles,no power, bad wiring (it just caught fire when i turned the lights on),windows fog up,to low to the ground, what else can i say besides the fact i spent about4000.00 fixing the car in 2 years, and be careful you don't break the door handle they don't come in red.

Unless you have lots of spare cash on hand and don't mind walking when it's getting repaired (90% of the time) DON'T BUY AN AVENGER
