Strength:

Lane to lane manuevers, and cornering. The ABS stop me on a dime, and the factory Eagle-RSA tires grip very well. Lastly, the looks. The only real car Dodge has made, that's not a viper/prowler that looks like a muscle car.

Weakness:

Unfortunately doesn't have a muscle car engine under the hood. A sweet v-6, but 220 HP would be nice. And, it has the turning radius of a city bus!

Extremely impressive looks and street appeal. The first thing people say when they see it is "nice car...what is it?". I knew I wanted one in 95 when I first saw one...I've only added a K&N Air Filter and tinted the windows limo black (ALL but the windshield). It's very intimidating...I have smoked several cars on the freeway...over both long and short distances. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but enough to keep me happy.

-Brakes
-Transmission
-They dont make them anymore

When I first saw the car, i new i had to have it. I loved the looks, and the clean lines. The only dissapointment i had when i got in it was its performance. It does good for the engine size, but its not as fast as it looks. Its handling is great, fuel economy great, brakes could be a little better, as well for the tranny. Overall i love the car and have not once regreted buying it. Would reccomend to anyone...and oh yeah, if your going to get one, get the ES v-6 WWW.ASOG.NET!!

Not a thing.

Love the car. My parents bought it bran new in 95. At 15 for my first car its more then what I need. The car is garage kept and only has about 4,900 miles on it. I love the attention I get with the car espically the girls. You park it in a parking lot come out and theres girls swarming the car.

Strength:

Ride quality. For the $$, fairly quiet ride even when radio is off. V6 does well (sometimes not so well when A/C is on, but still wouldn't want a 4 banger). Solidly built. Appearance and styling are great. Option group with Sport package!!

Weakness:

Some rattles/squeeks (especially in the Florida sun/heat, but stop when the car cools down). Wish ABS was standard!! Airflow - especially when on A/C, car doesn't seem to cool down very quickly. Replaced all headlights with Xenon lights since fog lights (not standard on Base or Sport) could NOT even be ordered!!?!?! The Xenon lights are an improvement over the standard halegon.

For the price paid for my Avenger Sport (w/trade-in) I got an excellent deal. With the options the Sport package came with, the price can't be beat. The car is fairly quiet, rides well and I have a secure feeling sitting behind the wheel. The standard AM/FM/cassette/CD radio has excellent sound. Having the remote security system is great! Getting ready to replace the battery for the first time - have heard that these cars are hard on batteries, but mine has lasted over 2 years.

Strength:

Looks nice, drives reasonably well, great soundsystem -Infinity speakers. Used it driving in the city a lot and it handled well going in an out of traffic quickly.

Weakness:

I'd have to agree with other reviewers that the brakes were kind of lousy. I've had 2 sets of brakes now but I attributed some of that to driving in the city for 4 years. You can't open the windows if there is any moisture on the car, such as from dew or rain, because it all runs off into the car and wets your arms, legs and the door. I guess it is because of the slope in the roof or whatever but that is a pain. The front windshield also does not defog easily. The only other major thing I have a problem with is that the car has a very large turning radius. A 3-pt. turn can become a 5-pt. turn very easily. My husband's toyota 4-runner has a much better turn radius for being an SUV.

This has been a good car for me. It was the first car I bought after graduating college and getting a full-time job. I love the way the car looks and drives for the most part. There are some minor features that I wasn't happy with but for the money, it was decent enough. It has enough get-up-and-go for me and I like to drive moderately fast. I've had the car since October 1996 and have 82,000 with no serious problems other than routine maintenance until this year. I've replaced the rear struts, have a bad front O2 sensor that needs replacing, and the original battery took a dive. I still have the original belts in the car and everything else has been great.

Strength:

The looks, the handling, pretty quick, sound system, roominess (especially in the back seat)

Weakness:

Although it can move, Dodge really made a mistake by basically ignoring this car performance-wise. Could use more muscle, should have gotten it. Brakes have give me a few minor problems as well.

I love my avenger. It looks great and I enjoy watching and catching others stare at it. I tinted the windows all around and it really makes it look even better. The engine could be stronger but this car can win races. I have beaten Integras, Maximas, Neons, Probes, Cavaliers, Civics, and Aleros to mention some. Even a couple of Mustangs. This is a great car to soup up because it has the looks. Fun as hell to drive!

Strength:

Looks. Handling. Period.

Weakness:

CHEAP interior parts, exterior trim, paint, suspension squeaks, radio cuts out whenever, transmission shifts erratically, spark plugs cost $450.00 to replace, engine dosent give you a warm feeling, rear spoiler warped (2 times)oil leaks from ??? all with only 29000 mi. A piece of junk!

I bought the Avenger new in 1997. It looked great, had a long list of std features and was not a car you saw every day. My test drive should have stopped me from buying, something about the acceleration from a V6 was inaddequate. In my excitement, I dismissed my own concern and bought it. The price was $2000 below invoice! Now I know why.

styling, reliability (am I the only one that found it fairly reliable?)

Weakness:

lack of power, comfort, gas mileage, bad paint

This was the wife's car. We sold about 3 years ago (before we had a kid)but I remember it well. It was a red/grey and it was a cute woman's car. Performance wise it was an absolute pig and it sucked way too much gas considering how slow it was. The car didnt really give us any probs aside from a brake job but the paint was fading terribly. It looked good but the V6's performance didnt match the looks or the name for that matter (what did this thing Avenge?). Comfort wise I hated it, it really didnt do anything particularly well. I've owned everything from Mustangs, Camaro's, Vette's, and a real nice 85 Porsche 928 to Camry's, Infiniti's and now a new Trooper in addition to my musclecars (67 442 w/500hp) and I can say that this car was'nt really fast enough to be considered a sports car, it wasnt really comfortable enough to be a luxury car, it wasnt economic enough to be a compact car, so what the hell was the purpose of this car?

Everything except looks

This car is real crap. I never had such a lousy car in my life, I am 45. The body is weak, parts just come loose, warp, fade squeak, etc. The brakes are a joke, I am a easy braker and it dont matter, they wear like warm butter. The rotors warp constantly, the o2 sensors fail constantly at $75 eacc, if you need new plugs, better have $400 ready to shell out, they need to take off the intake manifold to get the back 3. ERG valve failed at 25000 mi, cost $500 to replace. Tires wear out every 25-29K even if you rotate and check inflation. Radio is a joke, it passes by stations 10 miles away! SQUEAKS FROM FRON END WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY. Seat track broke at 15000 mi. Spoiler came loose at 10000 mi. Cant even crack windows if wet out, it all comes pouring off roof onto armrest and you. MUCH MORE BAD. I finally traded it in just to get rid of it, I had a feeling the tranny was going next. I would not sell it myself because I would not feel right giving someone this P.O.S.!
