Strength:
Ultra cool looking family car!
Weakness:
ANY MOVING PART! Lovely Looks, Terrible everything else! My windows go off track ($500 to fix), CD player stop working, driver power seat failed within first 10k miles ... and continues to give me issues from time to time, rack & pinion replacement @ 40K miles, 2.7 V6 engine REPLACED (out of pocket) summer 2001 with approx 50k miles ... here it is January 2003 and guess what ... I need a new engine again!!!! Yes, I changed the oil faithfully, yes, I maintained the care faithfully and still, a rod (or something like that) has screwed up again (same issue as the first time I changed the engine). i refuse to spend another $4500 ... anyone want a pristine conditioned (body & interior) '99 Intrepid? you have to know when to cut your losses. It hurts because I love my car ... but it has to go. |

Strength:
Big car, nice styling, good power, overall a reliable car (knock on wood)
Weakness:
Goes through brakes like gas, partially my fault. Minor things like interior lights burn out super fast. could be a short, who knows. Overall I love it. I think my Intrepid is a very nice car, But I have had a few problems with it. I have had a transmision sensor to go out making the car jump and go on. It must have appeared like I had never driven a car before. Once the repairs were made it seems to shift at incorrect speeds. I also need work on the wheels....again. Dont get me wrong, I love my car and I am tied to it for another 4 years, I am very rough with it, driving at high speeds and over rough roads. At this time it has put up with more of my antics than the other way around. Similar Products Used: Chevy Monte-carlo Z34--couldnt wait to get rid of it. Ford Taurus -- Junk after 67,000 miles |

Dodge Intrepid
Strength:
The car is comfortable and enjoyable to drive. The back seat is roomy for other passengers. The 3.3L engine has good power and starts well in the cold. I change the oil and filters myself and they're easy to get at under the hood. Overall, a very mechanically sound car.
Weakness:
The back doors are always slightly out of line, but they do close tightly. Some of the door and window moldings need to be glued periodically. The cupholders broke along time ago. Overall, the only problems have been the small aesthetic stuff, nothing mechanical. My wife bought this car new before we were married. It now has 253,000 miles and it's still going strong! We've kept it well maintained and we've never had to do any major repairs. The 3.3 liter engine has been great. It still gets good mileage and doesn't use any oil. Strength:
Reliability, warranty, roominess, great on ice and snow, get 25-27 mpg on highway
Weakness:
cup holders on arm rests are great but can break off I have had my car for almost 6 years and have 141,000+ miles on it. Right now I'm having a problem with all my gauges on the dash board quitting and I have to pop the dash with my hand to get them back to working. Otherwise, I haven't had much problem with it, just a few small things that were covered by my 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. First real tuneup was at 100,000 miles. Impressed by warranty, too, and my dealership is great. Looking to possibly buy another. Similar Products Used: None |

Dodge Intrepid
Strength:
Can't think of any at this point.
Weakness:
All items listed in the review summary. I have owned this vehicle approximately 2-1/2 years. I have had numerous problems with it, water pump failed about 10 months after purchase, transmission sensor failed a year later, windows coming off track and last but not least complete engine failure the 2.7 liter engine obviously has some type of problem with oil sludging up. My oil and filter is changed on a regular basis 3000 to 3500 miles, yet when the repair shop called me in to look at the engine I could not belive the condition it is in, the complete inside is gummed with oil. This repair will cost me $5500.00 on a vehicle that is not paid for. I would not recommend the 99 model 2.7 liter Intrepid to anyone. Similar Products Used: Mercury Sable, not nearly as costly. |

exhaust, visibility, low front bumper (likes to find curbs) i have had my car for 3 years now. i bought it used with 28k miles on it. i m up to 60k now. i dont know where people take their cars and what they do to them, but i have never had a single problem with this thing. i change the oil every 7000-7500 miles like the book says. it runs great. doesnt burn any oil, and it hardly looks black. i have only replaced the tires and brakes. althought the mufflers are pitiful. $230- $330 bucks to replace them, depending which ones they are. and they were on back order for a while. but i still love it. if it only cost me a muffler. thats cheap service. it still looks great, drives great, and smells like new leather. my mother in law bought one like ours because she like it so much. my sister in law is going to buy one also. i love chrysler. ford and chevy are ancient in every aspect. Strength:
Roomy, my teenagers and husband love the head and leg room.Has plenty of get up and go in tight spots.
Weakness:
No rear seat cup holders. These would be great for those long road trips. No pass through to the trunk. Opening in trunk not wide enough to get large things in the trunk. The trunk is plenty big but you can't get anything through the mouth of the thing. When I bought my Intrepid it had 23,000 miles. I have had no problems and only enjoyment from this car. The only thing I have had to change so far is the oil and the tires. I now have a noise in the front left wheel that I will have to check out and I have heard they are notorious for wheel problems. Strength:
Looks good
Weakness:
No customer loyalty I bought my Intrepid used from a Dodge dealer. I only had it one year when the head gasket went. The dealership did not acknowledge a problem and would not fix it. Also had a Dodge neon that need a new head gasket with only 29,000 mile. This also was not fixed by the dealership. I was told by my mechanic that Dodge is aware of this problem. I WILL NEVER BUY A CHRYSLER VEHICLE AGAIN!! THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR CARS. |
