Weakness:

Replace front brakes frequently, air broken a long time ago, other than that, no problems.

I have owned my 1994 Intrepid since 1995, second owner, purchased with 75,000 miles. Changed oil every 3000 miles, now have 219,000! No transmissions, replaced cam and crank sensors.

Weakness:

Brakes Air Conditioning (never worked at all) Struts Front End (tirod, noises, shaking, pulling)

Caution when trading in.Im in the process of trying to trade this car in that Ive owned for 4 years and everywhere I take it they say they cant get rid of them because they have so many problems especially known for transmission and I better have $2000 ready when it goes. The brakes have been bad and replaced frequently. I bought with 54,000 miles and now have 123,000. It still RUNS good.so far no trans mission or major engine problems. Bad STRUTS, anoying "Check Engine Soon" light always goes on.had checked, dealer says nothing wrong, basically just ignore it. OK ? Replaced front left tirod. ive maintainenced well. overall repairs in 4 yrs about$700 + tires.Overall been a reliable car for me with gas milage I cant complain about. 123,000 with bad brakes and struts and it's still getting me to work everyday and still has plenty of get up and go.Oh I forgot, A/C never worked from day one. Told cost to fix around $600.Another common problem for Intrepids. I'll roll down windows first, and I have.

Strength:

None.

Weakness:

1200 character limit will not allow me to list them all.

I have had the car for 8 months now, and everything was fine until last week. I threw a rod and busted up a lot of internal engine parts. I have taken very good care of it and did not understand why this happened all of the sudden at less than 70,000 miles. After reading some of these reviews, however, it's looking like their is definitely something wrong with these 2.7's. I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy.

Strength:

At this point I'm not sure that there are any strengths. Very disappointed with the 2.7 engine.

Weakness:

2.7 liter engine blew at 52,000 miles

Very disappointed with the 2.7 liter engine. I have had the car for 6 months now and this week while traveling on the interstate the car stalled. I had it towed to the nearest dealership and was told I needed a new engine at 52,000 miles. Chrysler could care less about the problem. I found that there have been many complaints about this engine blowing with no indication that anything is wrong. The dealer ship told me that they are having a lot of problems with the engine. I wonder why with so many complaints Chrysler hasn't recalled the engine? Sound like a class action law suit is needed.

Strength:

3.3L engine has balls, unlike many of the smaller cars my friends drive. Interior is big and comfy, there's tons of room inside for myself and my passengers, so I never have to move my seat around or worry about space. Looks nice, drives pretty smoothly, and has decent acceleration for an automatic. White-faced gauges are cool as well. Stock speakers sound very nice considering. Lots of trunk space for subs and other gear.

Weakness:

PROBLEMATIC. Transmission cost me $2000 cash. Also had to rebuild the starter, fix the power window, and make all sorts of little repairs/adjustments along the way. Iv'e spent big $$$ just fixing the damned thing, and every time I've almost paid everything off, something else goes wrong, so it seems like I'm stuck with the car since I can't afford to pay the rest of my loan and buy a new car. Now the engine is revving loudly, and the tranny has never shifted the same since it was rebuilt.

My first car. People thought I was nuts buying such a big car, but I like it. It is big, black and pretty nice to look at. I bought the car with 185,000km on it.

Strength:

Generous room, comfortable seats, quiet ride, trunk is huge, I could fit more in it than in a minivan!

Weakness:

Transmission (we knew going in) Horrible paint problems

This car is my baby! I love my intrepid! The trunk is very large and it's so spacious inside. Sadly, the paint has all but peeled off. It's so old though that it costs as much to paint it as the blue book says it's worth. We did have to replace the transmission at 49,000 miles but Dodge is known for that. It now has 96,000 miles on it and is still going strong. My husband feels it is time to update the car. We are looking seriously at another. We highly recommend it. Just hope this time we don't have one that the paint peels off. I'm afraid to take it to a car wash for what it may look like when I come out!

Strength:

rides well, very comfortable, quiet, handles well

Weakness:

not as much power as I felt it should have

I bought this car because it was the only one on the lot that I could afford that didn't look hideous. I had no opinion either way, I'd never owned a dodge vehicle. I fell in love with it the first week. The ride is smooth, it looks slick, the radio kicks. However, last week (after having the car for only 2 months) my car started having transmission problems. The input and output sensors went out at the same time and the car got stuck in 2nd gear. The car is only at 60,000 miles and I had everything checked and serviced when I bought it. I've been informed by several mechanics that these cars are notorious for chronic transmission problems and that the engines go bad quick. I still have to pay for this car for 4 more years and I don't believe I'll be purchasing another one.

Strength:

Comfortable Good gas mileage looks great Handles great

Weakness:

Lack of power

The car is very roomy and rides great. No problems up to this point at 32k. Although the 2.7 is questionable. No power uphill at all..the gas mileage is great and cruise nice at highway speed. But can you rely on it when passing up hill on a two lane highway. If you 're not after power and want the best of both worlds a gas saver and lot of room with a classy look...this car is it. it handles great and is reasonable quiet.

Design of car Very strong motor 3.5 Roomy interior Large trunk Hugs road good on long trips

Weakness:

head lights paint peeling

Bought this car new and have 91,000 miles on it. All options except sun roof, traction control, and leather. Special ordered from factory. Have had the following problems: ABS brakes repaired under warranty, one set of plug wires under warranty (three sets from AutoZone good they are life time warranty),recall on fuel and seat problems, one water pump, tie rod ends replaced, replaced plastic covers on "B" pillars one time need it again, gas cylinders need replacing on hood, front brakes one time, replaced seat mechanism drivers side (bought one from junk yard) broke due to floor mat being caught under it, the biggest disappointment I have had with this car is the paint peeling off the back doors, top, and quarter panels( Chrysler paid $300.00 of cost after serious hell raising). I have had this car serviced every 3,000 miles like clock work, all service at a Dodge dealership. I have spent a good deal on regular maintence. Most of the problems not under warranty has happened from 60,000 miles to present. Paint problem was in 2001. My wife has driven this car about 10,000 miles a year. It has the old 3.5 and is a very strong running motor. The car is a pleasure to drive and is very roomy. It has never had the spare tire on the ground. I am on the second set of tires now. I think, with the exception of the paint that the problems I have had are exceptable with a car having 91,000 miles and 9 years old. I have had no trans problems only a reprograming of shifting during regular maintenance. I am holding my beath (I have had the trans completely serviced 3 times and fluid changed several more times). The headlights are terrible from day one, very dim. I really can not believe they meet federal standards. I finally wired a relay into the high beam system so the fog lights also come on. This made a big differance in brightness. I also changed bulbs to a brighter type, really did't help. I really don't know if this has been a good car or not. I have love the car but it is time for a new something, I don't think I will by another Chrysler, but I don't know what it will be. So as a 9 year owner I think this car is about average, no beter, no worst.
