Strength:

nice looking car, lots of room

Weakness:

poorly built car overall, rack bushings gone at 42000 miles,
needs tie rods at 42000 miles these two items are not covered by the $1300.00 ADDED CARE WRAPAROUND WARRANTY. Replaced evaporator core at 56000 miles, replaced radiator at 56000 miles, the dealer had to remove timing cover to adjust timing belt at 56000 miles.

I dont think i will ever buy another dodge car.

Strength:

well, i like the 214 h.p. i have and the fact that when you want the car to move, it does. I would also have to say it has plenty of space to haul around friends and fill up the truck for a whole week of vacation.

Weakness:

it has over 136,000 miles on it, which is horrible for a 96 but it has had a few water pumps replaced, some work on the engine, a recall, some other minor things. it is a heavy car!

being only 18, well obviously i wouldnt have a viper or anything else that powerful, but for what it is, this car can go! I love speeding around tight corners and beating my friends off the line in their P.O.S. cars.

Roomy interior, good gas mileage looks good on the outside.

Weakness:

Too many large repairs!

Too many big and bad things have happened to this car. The tie rods snapped inside the rack and pinion steering box which could have killed me and someone else. Thank God I used my head and purchased an extended warranty with this car! It was a $3,000 repair! Both trans lines leaked out all the fluid which caused the car to go no more, not covered under extended warranty-cost $350. Car is currently in the shop for no A/C due to broken condensor. Covered under extended warranty, would have cost $1,200. Gas guage goes up and down at will, headlight covers are fogged out on the inside. None of the above is due to my "lack of care" to this vehicle all my troubles are from the manufacturer.

Great car for the money. Charlie at Oxford Motor is a great guy and will tell you the truth about his cars and there is no secrets from him. As for the car, Great power , great school car, 3.5L does pretty good. Sound System is ok. Seats are firm. Handles great.

Weakness:

Me being short. I can't see out of the rear window, too darn high for me.

Nothing has went wrong. Just I traded in the wrong car for this one. I traded in my 1995 Ford Taurus SHO, Yamaha Racing Motor. That car puts Firebirds back where they belong. I found the Intrepid can do some of that. But the SHO is a fairly better car. The Intrepid is just more of a practical car for 20 mile round trip to school.

Strength:

Good Power and great gas milage (3.5L)! Many wonderfull features: fog lights, 3 in-dash tweaters, remote trunk, rear a/c, many more.

Weakness:

Quite a bit of road noise - took care of it with dynamat though.

I'd recommend the Intrepid to any one, it's one fine automobile!

Strength:

Doesn't cost an arm and a leg, sporty look, everything works.

Weakness:

Leather scratches and tears too easily.(in my opinion)

This is my second Intrepid, what can I say, when I find something good I stick with it. The 93 I gave to my brother a year ago with 90,000 miles on it. Last I knew it had 110,000 on it and still no major problems. Regular maintenance schedule suggests to replace the timing belt at 100,000 miles as well as the water pump so before I sent it off we split the cost to have it done and has proven to be a good move. The R/T, being eight years newer is obviously more sophisticated and better looking so any comparisons don't really mean much. I think the guy with the review before me hit it on the button when he said if you treat a car good, it will treat you good in return. I have talked to 2 other Intrepid owners over the years and they all loved their car. One did have a bad transmission sensor which caused the car to drop out of 4th gear, but as he said, its not the end of the world. The dealer fixed it under warranty in one day. The engine is a proven engine and Chryslers transmission problems are behind them, the R/T has not dissapointed me in anything, I love it.

If I were to crack it up in an accident, I wouldn't feel bad.

Weakness:

Build quality, reliability, dealership IQ

Anyone who gives this car a good review has never driven a reliable car before. This car is an embarrasment to own, unfortunately it was given to us by our parents so we lived with it. I have never spent so much energy worrying about whether a car would work day to day.

List of things that went wrong is unbelievably long, and started after 1st month. Here is a sample: doors that won't shut and swing open while driving, suspension parts that fail or maybe never were there in the first place, AC system destined to fail, radio power button doesn't work (I can get a radio that will work for 10 years at WalMart for $2.99!), leaking everything, trim that literally melted in sun (and in cool Vermont!), 3rd world brakes, glove box opens around 30 mph, rustomanga!!

WILL GET KNOCKING NOISE ON RIGHT HAND SIDE OF ENGINE. HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS. NOT A ROD

I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH 96,000 MILES ON IT AND I JUST HAD TO REPLACE MY TRANNY NOT TO PLEASED ABOUT THAT. I DO ALL MY OWN WORK ON IT BUT NOT THE TRANNY. I CHANGE MY OIL EVERY 3,000 MILE. OOOOOOOOOO YEAH AND FOR ALL THE QUAKER STATE USERS THAT STUFF IS LIKE GLUE AND IS NO GOOD FOR A DODGE ENGINE. MY CAR NOW HAD 107.500. STILL OUT RUNS MANY 3. WHATEVERS. FOR ALL YOU THAT DON'T KNOW INSIDE YOU AIR TUBE GOINGTO YOUR PLENTUM THERE IS A BAFFLE IN THER THAT YOU CAN TAKE OUT AND GET A FEW EXTRA FREE PONYS. ABOUT FOUR. NOT TO MUCH $ TO REPLACE PARTS. DID MY TIMMING BELT AND WATER PUMP AND THERMASTAT. ALL THAT FOR ABOUT $85-100.00 . NOT TO SHABBY IN MY BOOK. ALL IN ALL I LOVE MY TREPID AND AM THINKING ABOUT BYING A R/T INTREPID. HAVEN'T HAD ANYTHING ELSE GO WRONG WITH AS FAR AS A/C, BATTERIES,ALTS, OR ANYOTHER MAJOR COMPONETS. TAKE CARE OF YOUR CAR AND IT WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. THERE IS ONE THING THAT I CAN'T STAND AND THAT IS THERE AREN'T REALLY ALL THAT MEANY PERFORMANE BOLT ON PARTS FOR THIS CAR.

Strength:

sporty styling, large interior, 3.5 liter has power.

Weakness:

transmission, air conditioning, paint, front end, exhaust.

My overall impression of the the car is mixed. I really
like the style, size and power of the 3.5 liter engine. I must
say though, I have had my share of problems. First with the
transmission at about 65k miles. Then with the a/c at about 70k.
Just recently at 75k I needed major front end work, such as ball
joints etc.. Also the paint is fading on the roof. I have had
the car for almost four years and I still enjoy the car, but I just
wish it had less problems.
