I drive a 72 chevelle with a blown power valve and 3.08 gears and the neon srt-4 beat my chevelle....till i get my 3.73 gears and new power valve

Wow! What a ride! I fully expected this car to feel like a clapped out cheap ass neon. I wanted it to be good, I really did. I was very surprised by how put together it felt. Very tight, great steering, awesome motor. Ver pleasantly surprised.

POWER! FINESSE! QUICK! FUN! It has the best things you'd want in a Japanese Street Racer, except that it's roomy and stimulates the US Automarket :D It will turn heads... Can't be helped. It's an excellent car for tuning; it'll stand out from all the kazillion Hondas. I heard it was built on the same platform as a Mitsu LanEvo VI... But I can't verify that.

It's not AWD, which may or may not be a good thing. The bucket seats are a little unpleasent (but definitely needed). The speakers are worth chuckin' (like any stock). A majority of the rear viewing is blocked by the spoiler, which can be annoying at times. And... it will spark challenges from import tuners, guaranteed. But these are minor faults... Nothing major.

"Is this car American-made?!" That's what I asked myself when I test drove it, cuz I always figured that the crappiest cars, with Korean ones topping the list, were from the U.S. But this Neon SRT... It's too freakin' Awesome! It has the quality specs of your above-average RiceBurner, but it also packs the punch of a 70s Muscle Car. I finally bought the sucker after trading in my semi-tuned '95 Nissan Maxima... Best thing I ever did! :D I love my SRT so much that I've been searching the net trying to find web clubs. I've already nicknamed it the "Honda Killer" (I plan on getting a visor sticker that says that). For good reason too... I've whooped a finely tuned Honda Prelude, a punk Acura Integra from my neighborhood and some dork in a Pontiac Sunfire; I'm sure more will come... (Now, if I had the guts to attempt drifting... :D) Anyway, I reccommend this car to anyone who loves to drive (and get there moneys worth ten-fold) or those who really despise Hondas. You can bet I'm putting in the angel eyes, the sound system, the chip, the rally height etc. No need for a muffler, it's already louder than any riceburner I've heard. (Though a turbo misfiring system would rock!)

Rough Shifting

Anybody that dogs this car hasn't driven one. I traded a Ford Ranger for it. The power difference is unreal. I've raced Mustangs, Hondas, Mitsubishis, Acuras, etc. My friend has a 77' vette that can't hang, i smoked an rsx-s, and came very close top sticking with a new corvette.

this is the best car for your buck if you are looking for a 4 door car with pleanty of punch this is ur car. my friend has a honda civic with a tubro kit and exaust he has a 2 door. he took me to test drive this car and i followed him to a old road about 2 miles of straight flat road. i thought he was going to win but he didnt i beat him to the 1/4 marker by a link. i know what was i thinking that a honda could beat a great american made car. so i went right after having 2 hours of fun and paid cash for this 4-door viper and when i paid cash they droped the price. i once saw a old dude driving this show stoper i recomend this car to familys to singles. any one looking for a family car with a kick this is your car the only thinng to replace right away i the speakers they work but are not worth anything but there are good for about a month or so.

this car is the best you can get fot this type of money, there was doubt that my neon could beat my friends honda i know what was i thinking a honda beating a american made dodge he is a riceburnner yet my stock exaust is louder than his and i beat him by a link this car has it all sport seats some what of a short throw shifter and great gauges and a party car 4 doors dodge knew what they where doing and should continue this treand i saw a old dude driving this car this dodge is for all ages and fun for the 16 and up family. finaly a sports car for the lower class.

Three words: I love it. I've driven Mustangs and Camaros, and this car is a whole new experience. It gets a lot of looks, a lot of challenges and bs from riceboys, and wakes up my neighbors. Much faster and better looking than I expected. When I was hunting for one, I thought I'd get a peppy little pumped up neon for a fun commute. I was wrong, this car will eat up anything in price range, and most of the stuff out of it. So now I'm taking the car I was going to use as a daily driver and pumping it up. I've gotten the stage one upgrade, an AEM cold air intake, and a mopar BOV installed. Next come a new down pipe and headers. Haven't taken it to the 1/4 mile yet, but it has enough power to make me greatful for the restrictive racing seats.

Engine - Has lots of stregnth. nice interior, good looks. I've already had 3 or 4 police officers wave me over because they were intrested about the car (no tickets on the car yet) and a respectable top speed for a stock street car.

The tires don't last very long and it seems like it's having slight problems with the catalytic converter but it's still under warrenty, easy to get it fixed

This car is a extremely fun, fast car with a lot of bang for the buck. About a month ago, I took it to the drag strip and pulled a 14.46 second quater and a .6 reaction time with it at about 5,600 ft above sea level and it's completely stock. Dodge says 14.2 is the quickest they get it to go and I think it will do faster.

Power: lots of it! Turns many heads. It can and will keep up with cars costing 10k more- and yes from experience ive tussled with mustang gts and one 350z. Also many mopar peformance parts in the future!

My main complaint: Its a gas guzzler! Unless you plan to be light on the gas pedal, this will eat away gas money. My old 98 neon avg = 28mpg. My srt so far = 18mpg!

If you have noticed, the bad reviews on this car are biased and have no strong arguments against this car. I test drove a Mazdaspeed protege, focus svt and new civic si before i drove the Dodge. This car outperformed them all. There's no competition. Acceleration is amazing: slam the gas and your gone!!! Handling is very responsive. The braking on this car is the best i have ever seen, i don't know what the other reviewers were thinking. The shifting is not my favorite, its a little stiff and chunky at times. Overall, the drive is wonderful, always brings a smile to my face. The interior is a step up from the base neons, but i would much rather prefer the quality in the si. The racing inspired seats are very supportive and keep you in under strong cornering manuevers, although not well suited for long trips. For a fast compact, and only under 20k [cheaper than all the cars i compared with]you really can't go wrong.
