Strength:

Good handling, Family/Sporty , good on gas,Roomy, and not real expensive

Weakness:

Some electrical problems, faster if you add thoughs plugs.

The car is very nice I bought it with 17,000 miles in 2006 and now it has 46,000 miles and I have not had any problems with it. The car handles the road very well highway or city. I drive about 300+ miles a week with it and it's Great. I get about 250-330 miles to the tank.I put the Bosch Platnium +4s in and that increased gas mileage and Performance. I have had to replace the front headlights twice in six months ,and some other ligths. other than that its great. Good for familys, young people .

Strength:

It rides beautiful and is nice for long trips! Very good on gas!

Weakness:

Sits a little low to the ground.

Sorry for all the people who have had trouble with stratus's. I happily cant say that it has been the same for myself. I love my status. I bought it at 43000 mi. and have yet to have any problems. Just the usual wear and tear on my car. Regular oil changes, new brakes, and wheel bearings. The wheel bearing were only done because of water damage due to me being in a flood (so its not really the car's fault). Other then that I would highly suggest this car to anyone!

Strength:

It looks nice.......

Weakness:

Again, the turning ratio is almost non-existant, I feel that the car is cheaply manufactured to say the least.

I will never again purchase a Dodge car. Since I've bought my 2002 Stratus, I've heard nothing but complaints from people that have Dodges. My car has had issues since I bought it! The breaks and rotars have been replaced, on average, every 6 months yet still make a grinding noice. I've had the dealer and several different mechanics work on the breaks, and no one can ever get it to stop. All I have heard is that it must be my car. I've had the stearing wheel lock up to the point that it could not be turned. Then it snapped, and fixed itself. The dealer had no idea how to explain it, but said something was definately wrong. They couldn't fix it because they couldn't figure it out. The oil filter has exploded, within a year, the bolts holding on the windshield wipers had stripped so they wouldn't turn, the turning ratio on this vehicle is practically non existant....I am just not happy.....

Strength:

Appearance
Roomy interior
large trunk
good gas mileage

Weakness:

Lots of small issues
Loud on expressways
Unstable at high speeds
Somewhat shaky front end

I have mixed feelings about the Stratus, but I know I would not purchase one again.Altho I have not had any major problems, I've had lots of little annoyances. The gas gage is inaccurate and will sometimes not register gas (even after being filled) at all. The check engine light never goes off, even after being checked for problems. The front end feels unstable after 65 MPH, making highway driving pretty scary. Its loud at high speeds. Wind and road sounds echo thru the car. The driver and passenger windows are low and thinner than other cars I've had, making it harder to see blindspots. I also have problems adjusting to how long the car is.The way the windshield is shaped makes it difficult to see the front hood and gage parking, etc. I enjoy the roomy interior and larger trunk. The front console is shaped awkwardly..if you have items in the middle and stop too quickly, things go flying. Ive been lucky not to have major problems, but overall the car seems cheaply made and unstable.

Strength:

Lots of room, goes pretty fast, a ton of trunk room

Weakness:

mechanical problems, bad experience with dodge makes me not want this car however this is just my story.

Overall this is a good car. It handles very well and I discovered after you floor it enough, over time it can get some great pick up much like sports cars do. I did not use this car as a family however, it was my first car. The trunk is huge in my opinion, for a car that is. I did have my share of under the hood problems. The breaks wear pretty fast but thats probably cause i was a crazy 16 years old driver at the time. The water pump went out after a couple of years. I recommend NEVER going to tires plus anywere. Try to find a small buisness mechanic to work on your car. The only flaw I had was it blew up on my high school graduation night while It was PARKED. I left it in the parking lot for 10 mins and it caught fire under the hood. 3 days later I get a recall notice from dodge saying the high pressure power steering fluid hose could cause a fire if it leaks in the ignition area. Ironicly this is exactly what happened because my power steering hose had recently started leaking. Dddge claimed no responsibility for this even though its obvious it was their fault. From this day on i will never buy another dodge vehicle, they will only screw you over.

Strength:

The inside is roomy. My 6'3 friend fit comfortably in the passenger seat - he even drove it once with no problem at all.

The exterior looks decent, it has some style to it.

Fairly quite, people have complained about road noise, but you should really consider that said noise is probably TIRES.

Trunk is roomy too.

Mechancially reliable so far. Only had to replace a oxygen sensor at 80,000 miles and of course the factory recall - bad steering fluid hose. 91,000 miles and no problems.

Comfortable ride and smooth handling - the stupid things I have done will be listed in the summary.

Good gas milage for its age and size.

Weakness:

The gas gauge tends to be off. Filled at nearly empty to only 12 gallons - with a 14 or higher tank. Uh uh.

Who should buy it: Buy the V6 version as a family car - takes more gas, but it'll have pep. College students like myself looking for a cheap, efficient ride.

Who shouldn't buy it: I really can't specify a group or type who shouldn't buy a Dodge Stratus.

Honestly, I've done a couple dumb things in my Stratus.
1) Hit a speed bump going 35 in a school parking lot (it was empty), my friend watched from his rearview mirror - apparently I was completely airborne.

2) On separate occasions, I forgot the turns for a bank and a gas station - I took them at 35 and 40 respectively - tires didn't sqeal.

In the end, I've driven this car in both -35 degree weather (started on the first try) and 110 degree weather, through two feet of rain, and through a blizzard at 70 mph. It's taken every challenge without dying. I don't know why the complains here target mechanical problems, as many claim to have performed regular maintainence, but I think the way some people drive is simply deadly to their cars.

Worst vehicle I have ever owned. I have had $500 cars that were far more reliable and longer lasting than this $10,500 lemon. After only 80,000 miles, the transmission went out--ending a string of breakdowns with this nightmarishly horrible vehicle!

Weakness:

Cup holders. Not great on gas.

I've had this car for 3 yrs and I'm very pleased with it. I by no means "baby" my cars, and at first I was a little worried about how this car would react. I've had no problems, and the only maintenance costs have been oil changes and new front brakes. I'm in the process of buying a new car, but would not hesitate to buy another stratus. Two thumbs up!

Strength:

Decent gas mileage, reliable, looks good, no transmission/ engine problems. No serious repairs have been done.

Weakness:

Paint. My model Status was not protected properly from the rust, so I have rust bubbles that are beginning to break around the edge of my hood. The only way to remedy the problem is to replace the hood, which costs about $900.

This car has been very good to me. I've had it for about a year and a half now, and there have been no real problems. It's pushing 120,000; I have done some maintenance. Scheduled maintenace, Front right tirod end replaced, Front left wheel bearing replaced. No knocks or rattles. The rear brakes squeak a little, but that is due to the horrendous weather around here. The car has been very reliable, and gets good gas mileage. It did not start once because my fuel lines were frozen. It handles decently, but has a bad turning radius (I believe that my rack & pinion may be going out, which should cause that.)

Weakness:

Crappy handling,no leg room in the back because the trunk has to be so big.Its good size trunk if you want to shove a dead body in there.

I feel as though I was taken for the biggest ride of my life!!!!This car handles like crap in the snow and slush.3 months after I purchased the car I had to take it in because A sensor burned out to the battery and my car was dead not even a lousy chime from the door.My CD player just plays songs at random and you dont even have to hit shuffle!!The winshield wipers fell apart after a light freezing rain.Oh sure in the spring when I bought it ;it looked great and handled perfect. However in a state where we have 4 harsh months of winter it is worthless.Oh and the best part is with only 2,000 miles on it all four of my tires had very little tread.I wouldnt say all Dodges suck but they really need to recall these cars give everyone their money back and cut their losses!!!
