Strength:

Gas miliage, driving around town its close to 30mpg, highway its 30+. The engine is pretty peppy, I am anxious to start the ski season and give it a run in the mountains. The fold down seats are awesome, I don''t have to buy a ski rack to go boardin''.

Weakness:

Tranny, it just seems to be weak and the linkage is noisy. Its a little hard to work on because it has a lot of mazda and mistu parts on it. The windows rattle when they are halfway down, oh well. Sometimes it burns oil when its first started, or when the temperature runs hot.

This car is GREAT so far. I wrecked my ''89 Pontiac Sunbird, and got $1300 for it. I luckily found a probe for the same price I got for my car. I have to say that it is a great buy so far. The only stuff I had to do was minor(plugs, wires, distrib. cap/rotor, front brakes, fix heating controls, tires). I am thrilled at the performance this little 4cyl has. I am being nice to this car so that I can save up for something better(Maybe an acura vigor). By the way I bought it with 177,777 miles on it.

Strength:

Very fast-plenty of room for a system in the hatch-chick magnet-very good lay out of the dash.

Weakness:

Stock clutch-cop magnet-aftermarket parts price of replacement parts

The car has a 3.0 v6 that well burn the tires of the rims. It well 130 very easily, the only thing that I have raced and not beat is a corvette (of couse). The car is a chick magnet. So if anyone want to by one just stay away from the automatic transmissions.

Strength:

like I said, the big back seat. Also, the seats recline, and the stick shift''s kinda fun too, if you know what I mean. Thank God for Ford!!

Weakness:

Sometimes, it''s hard to put my clothes back on because the ceiling''s kinda low.

I think that this is the neatest car that has ever existed. It has a big back seat, and I like to have sex in it all the time. My boyfriend thanks you!

Strength:

Smooth look and acceleration, GREAT cornering, SWEET gas milage (35-37 mpg), and very comfy

Weakness:

Lacks low-end power, back seat may as well not be there, somewhat expensive repairs and upkeep

After deciding to move on from my last "family" car, I was open to a world of "teenager" cars. I decided that I would go with a 1997 Probe that had been sittin on a lot near our house. I always wanted a probe, and WOW, it was more then I could have asked for! I absolutly LOVE the way she handles, and it''s amazing just how easy it is to pick up chicks now! For only 118 HP, this little 4 banger really has a punch! While lacking in the low-end power, she makes up for it in the high end! However, if you buy a used car, MAKE SURE that you are aware of the past owner''s driving styles! The car that I bought looked and ran GREAT, but after I looked into the history, I prepared myself for some enormous blows! I found out that my car was from Detroit, and that whoever owned it beat the @#$% outta it, and I saw it coming....A New Transmission ($1200) Clutch ($400) Alternator ($300) Spark Plugs and wiring ($100) Front and Rear Brake pads ($200) Front Brake Rotors ($150) The ONLY reason for these repairs is because there was HEAVY abuse on most of the car, and she was still holding together, so I wasn''t holding it against the car. This car is a rather expensive car to take care of, but really, if you have a car that has been well maintained, you will love her to death, because they run GREAT otherwise! Through thick and thin, I truthfully would not trade this car in, even after all I have been though! Highly recommened to anyone who is up for a smooth, sleek ride!

Weakness:

Front axles, Exhaust Manifold, Windsheild Wiper motor, Leaky windows

I love this car. I've had a few problems with it but I've also had many more problems with other cars too. Still handles great and is very quick. The paint has faded over the years but I still want to get that fixed. I've had to replace both front axles and it needs to have the exhaust manifold gasket replaced. Overall I would recommend this car to anyone wishing to pick-up an inexpensive car with alot of potential.

Strength:

Good handling, fast, really sleek looking, no rust, great gas mileage.

Weakness:

just after 100,000 miles the water pump went and the engine block cracked immediately. it was a $4,000 job to replace the engine. the car hasn't been the same since. it's basically lived in different shops for the past 8 months. the new water pump was bad, the radiator leaked when i got it back, the nox (spelling?) sensor was shot, i finally just found out that the oxygen sensors are bad and that's why the gas milage went from 30-33 mpg to 16-20 mpg with the new engine, but it took 6 months to figure that out. the drivers side door lock broke around 40,000, the trunk lock broke just after that, the distributor is now missing the first valve so it runs really really roughly, now if you floor it you really don't go anywhere, and the sound system has always left a lot to be desired. plus it is really really costly to have such major items replaced.

Before 100,000 miles, this was an excellent machine. There were very few mechanical problems. You could floor it and feel like you were being shot out of a cannon. It was so quiet i only knew it was on b/c i checked the rpm gague. The handling is excellent- really hugs corners. Overall, a fun and exciting car while in working condition.

Strength:

good sound, with aftermarket muffler
sleek look to it, and handles nice.
decent power for 118 hp, but wish it had more (shoulda gotten a GT)

Weakness:

1.at high speeds the windows like to make whistleing sounds that are loud and annoying
2. that little drain thing above driver window that doesn't work and allows water from wipers to ride up and drop right on your arm rest on driver side.
3. lack of power
4. got a sweet system, but the whole car is held together by snaps....makes for alot of rattles that can;t really be fixed, back lights are bad for that and same with back bumper

was a nice car when i first got it, but deteriorated within 1 year of having it....mostly because it was a magnet for getting hit by other people 1. school parking lot (nice dent in door, but popped out fortunately) 2. big rig transport running into the back end while it was parked (insurance covered it, replacement of bumber and back lights) 3. people leaning on it and putting little dents on the roof (grr) other then those thing i love it :)

Strength:

Torquey, tough engine; great handling; gas mileage; gigantic trunk; comfortable & supportive seats; ride; powerful A/C.

Weakness:

Longish braking distances; annoying motorized shoulder belts; could do with a little less body roll; weak sound system.

This is the first-generation Probe GT, with the turbocharged 2.2-L., SOHC 12-valve four and a 5-speed manual transmission. I bought it new in July, 1990, and have owned it ever since. In 30 years of driving, it is absolutely the best car overall that I have ever owned, and I probably won't part with it until it rusts into the ground.

Even after 11 years and 103,000 miles, the car looks -- inside & out -- and runs like new. The Mazda-built engine is a tough, powerful gem. It burns no oil, averages 28 MPG (35 MPG on the highway at super-legal speeds), and has never broken down! It has needed some repairs as it has gotten older (e.g.: exhaust system, brakes), but they've been few and far between.

I've also found http://www.ProbeTalk.com to be a valuable resource for performance, repairs, recall data, etc.
