Strength:

powerful
engine (not too bad)
front seat adjust (cool!) to someone who plans to buy this ford probe, you have to take care of the car (change oils make sure everything got to be good!)

Weakness:

rattle sounds
backseat too small

My dad bought me this car from arizona, CA back in 2001 which was 60,000 and now it has 97,000 (2006).
It was easy and fun to drive, one of the powerful car i've ever drove!. but some-things i dont like about is the backseat which is too small (i'm glad i'm not too tall, i'm only 5'3" it fit me perfectly) and gas (if you drive too fast!) and the back of the trunk is pretty big for the space and also i dont like the rattle sounds, it drive me crazy sometimes (all you have to do is turn music on) and also i dont like the cupholder. i like some-things about them is the interior style and it's unique.

Strength:

fuel efficient, nice acceleration, alot of potential

Weakness:

paint job, back seat.

I bought this car and it ran great for a while, then it went to crap.. haha .. I wondered what the heck? But as i thought about it i found alot wrong with who i bought it from, a guy with a daughter that has gone through more cars than a dealership.. she's crazy, and not to mention the father thinks he's a technician but can find his butt with both hands with assistance... haha.. But to start off the oil filter when i changed the oil (the girl didnt even know what an oil filter was) the oil filter didnt even leak when i took it off.. nothing.. not to metion the oil was black as night.. once that was fixed i had to change the axles because someone apparently can hit a pot hole with all four tires, (the daughter) .. after that was all fixed i started having misfire and the idle went to crap and soon it wouldnt even accelerate.. i took it to my class at the time put it on the engine analyzer and found that when i accelerate the vaccum dies.. bad catalytic converter.. changed that.. it still died but it breathes now.. come to find out i have a bad coil..(by the way not being able to idle ment having to throw it in N and keep on the gas a little) I changed the coil and its all good now.. great car... take care of it unlike its previous owner.. and it will take care of you as with all cars.. but if you dont want to get off the couch for all you potatos or cough up some money now and then, get a ricer so it will run until the earth finally gives up on us.. All in all take care of your cars folks.. dont talk trash just because your lazy...

head light wiring was no good

Our probe ran great. But then it had a serious electrical problem and the head lights quit working and kept blowing the main fuse. We took apart the wiring harness and figured out that was the problem. Bad electrical. Other than that we loved it and it was really fun to drive especially around corners. Sold it for 400 and then we heard it went to crap. We loved it except all the work i put in to the wiring and it never got fixed.

Reliability, good power and performance, aftermarket parts availability, value, great looks, easy to service

Weakness:

Mediocre Exterior Paint

The '93 Probe is a fantastic vehicle. The Blue Book value was $188. I've replaced an axle, the exhaust, and a few light bulbs. Otherwise, this Probe is in great shape for a 12 year old car. At 167,000 miles, it still runs smooth as silk with lots of spunk for a 2.5L V6. All I have added is a cold air intake and a set of high-quality plug wires and this car really moves. The styling turns heads - I've had the car for just a couple of months and I have recieved several compliments from complete strangers. I've found several companies on line with aftermarket parts which is a real plus. Quite a few body kits are available to change the looks of the exterior if desired. Even though this model isn't produced any longer, there are still plenty of sources for for OEM and trick parts and accessories, including probeaddiction.com and spmotorsports.com. It's a breeze to work on, inside and out. I replaced the CD player and speakers - everything snaps off and on. Piece of cake. The Probe is a Mazda MX-6 product underneath, and I think the fusion of the MX-6 and Ford made for a great vehicle. The car is easy to work on and the stock GT doesn't require much for the average Joe to improve upon. A cold air intake and hi-flow exhaust are enough to take performance to the next level. Since it's a hatchback, a beefier sway bar and strut braces help eliminate interior noises due to body flex and improve handling in the turns - which the stock model can really rip through. Superchargers, turbo kits, flywheels, cams, clutches, and brake upgrades are all readily available for the real Probe enthusiasts. My only complaint is the quality of the paint job. Even with a Ziebart rustproofing, small blemishes are appearing. A new paint job will be required, but, the car is 12 years old and never garage-kept. All-in-all, I love this car and its potential.

Really nice looking even though its 11 years old, it still looks as it did on the show room floor, if not better

Weakness:

too many problems, and repair bills too high

I bought my ford probe from a private seller. That was the biggest mistake in my life! The car is very attractive, and i have dont some modifications to it with 17 inch rims, 12" subwoofers, but man the repairs on this thing! I have spent apx 2500 fixing on this car, and its still not fixed correctly. I have spent $700 this month fixing it! Since i purchased the car i have had to replace the altenator belt apx 4 times within one year, i replaced the starter, the battary, the spark plugs, and wires(twice) the catalytic converter, the driver's side window regulator, cv joints, drive axel, brakes (twice), rotors, tires(3 times, due to alignment problems) alignment, control arm, slave cylinder, and thats just to name a few. They never lied when they said f.o.r.d (Fix Or Repair Daily) i put the car in the shop two weeks ago to get the entire front end done, and it cost me $440 which was a $1,000 job, and then Saturday the damn thing starts smoking and chugging along, because the catalytic converter went out and it needed to have a tune up. Too much maintainance for me! No more american cars for me. Im going straight to the foreigners! The only thing that was good on the probe was the engine! And thats because it was made by Mazda! My probe has 155,000 miles on it an you cant even hear it. Mazda broke the mold when they made that engine!

Strength:

Power, looks, engine (2.5 V-6), tranny (if it is a manual), online websites (www.probetalk.com) you can learn, buy, and chat with people from your area about your car. If you want more power for fairly cheap look online for the Japanese version engine called the KLZE motor. That comes with 200 hourse power instead of 164 with the stock gt/GTS version V-6 probes.

Weakness:

Factory paint, the automatic trannys, If you get a probe made before 95 they rattle on the inside alot. The inside wasn't reconfiguerd untill 95 and they eliminated that problem.

I have had the Car for over two years and I am officially IN LOVE WITH THIS CAR!!! I am not just saying that either. If you are looking into buying one of these cars there are a few things to consider. Number one NEVER buy a ford brobe in an AUTOMATIC because I have herd nothing but problems with the automatic trannys. Lastly the factory paint jobs are not the best so if it has not been repainted it will need it pretty soon. As i said I love this car and I plan on keeping it for a long time. In the 2 years of owning it I put on over 30,000 miles on it and all I had to replace that was major was the starter. That costs about $240 dollars but you can install that yourself in about 1/2 of an hour. This car is extremly easy to work on every thing is fairly easy to get to. Two of my friends owned for probes and three of my other friends owned mazda mx-6's and all of them love there cars. Probes and MX-6's are pretty much the same car if you didn't know that. Ford probes have a mazda engine in them. The same one in the mazda MX-6. My buddy had intake and exaust in his 93 probe GT and hit a 15.06 on the quarter mile. these cars are quick and reliable and handle remarkably well. They also look better than most cars on the road. I get so many compliments on my car as well. Most people have this feeling the Ford Probes are pretty much the biggest pieces of junk but reality is that they are awesome, fun cars that look beatiful and are cheap to own!!! Buy a FORD PROBE GTS. Those are the best looking!!!

Great power and acceleration. Looks are fantastic. Very reliable product. Sex appeal with the women big time. So many little neat features such as the lights on the vanity mirrors. Just a fantastic overall drive.

Weakness:

Gearbox. I burnt out my 3rd and 4th gear and it set me back $2000 australian. Supposedly uses the ford telstar gearbox. The fact that Asutaralia has just about no aftermarket parts for the Probe lucky country my arse!!!

FIRSTLY PRICES ARE AUSTRALIAN. An amazing car to drive. Looks wise this car is an abosulute stunner. Have the car proffesionalled lowered and change wheels to 17's if you want but the stock 16's are pretty crazy. Power wise this car can go. I have an auto but i wish i bought a manual. The auto stills goes nuts. Off the lights just use the handbrake for an automatic. Once this car hits 5000 rpm it takes off being a high rev car. Handling is fantastic and suprisingly a great drift car for an FF by using the handbrake. In australia we are famous for our commodores and falcons like your mustangs and chevs and there is nothing better than the look on there face when you smoke these V6's off the lights. And my car is all stock except a $150 k&n air filter. For such a small V6 this car holds its own. I even put away a GTS R33 skyline. He didnt appreciate that.
