Strength:

The looks are great, the basic engine is also good.

Weakness:

The paint is not of the best quality, the gearbox is sometimes hard to handle.

I have had no problems with the car so far, i have changed some things on the car: 18i Chrome wheels, Remus exhaust, K&N airfilter and other sparkplugs and my Probe is tuned to 224 BHP.

I like the car a lot, it has a sporty look, and has speed to it, but still at the cost of a normal car. I would definitly buy it again even though i have had some problems with it.

Sporty look, good gas milage and that's it!

Weakness:

Tranny sucks!! CV Boots broke already and I had them replaced a week ago. The brakes suck. Motor mounts are shot. The paint is peeling off and fading badly! 4 cylinder cars may not be fast, but this car is ridiculous. I almost had to get out and push my probe up a little hill.

I will never ever buy an '89 Probe again! This car has been nothing but a hassle since the day I brought it home. Figures, it ran great when I test drove it. In the 7 months I've owned it, I have put half of what I paid for it into repairing it!

The only other car I owned was an '89 Iroc-Z Convirtible, man what a bad a*s car! I miss it SO much. I can't even begin to compare an Iroc to my beyond wimpy Probe. Anyone considering a Probe, either stick to a manual or keep walking!!!

Stunning in midnight blue!
For a 94, the interior is anazingly current, even in '01
Smoooooth V6
Killer cruise control
Perfect exhaust note (stock)
Instrument panel lighting
Comprehensive instrumentation

Weakness:

Buckboard suspension- I'd replace the shocks/springs if I thought it would help, but I've heard it won't
Hatch hydraulic struts are dead
I wish it were fast instead of very quick

I think I got a honey. It looks and drives like new, although it has 125K on it. A motorhead from suburbia had it before me and it had a lot of (highway) miles on it. It would easily pass for a 97 or newer (if they made them after 97) and it is loaded. I love the fact that they have poor resale, because you can get a deal on them! I think overall it is a very refined car with a few quirks that are very easily lived with. Get the leather. I just took a 1500 mi round trip to Dallas, and the car was faultless except for the HARD suspension and that wreck of a state they call Arkansas. I still can't pinpoint the exact reason the GT looks so much better than the base and GL, but to me they barely look like the same car... No repairs to date, and it feels so tight that I will be genuinely surprised when something breaks!

Way better than the RX7, but nothing I have ever driven compares to the MR2SC for scream factor. The Probe GT wasn't designed to be a burner, it just does a lot of things wery well

Strength:

great acceleration
large trunk
NO problems in 8 months( except it needed new brakes )
nice alignment
all around pretty smooth driving
topped out at about 120-130mph

Weakness:

Rattles around 75-80 and gets alittle worse the faster it goes.
Paint is fading, some trouble with the front left head light but it seems to be better now.
The shifter is rather long.

I love it. I bought it at 118,000 miles It rides very well and has awesome gas milage. Though it has 127000 miles on it now, it still has lots of pick up and acceleration.
This is deffinatly a car I would recommend to younger people as their first car it, obviously cannot beat some of the newer faster cars but it can hold its own to keep your ego pretty high.
As long as you keep the oil changes regular and make sure everything else is taken care of it will last forever.

be a good car to out run the cops, havent tried that one yet!

Weakness:

the CD player who cares get a new one!

It's the altament driving tool. I bought the car knowing it needed
a headgasket. Dealer said they would fix it. When they found out
the head was cracked they started looking for a used one. Couldn't find
one anywhere so instead of a $500.00 head job they end up puting in
a whole used motor & 2500 dollars and 4 weeks later I finally drove
it off the lot with it. Not regreting one moment spent waiting for the
car. If its sweet performance you want, sweet performance is what you
get. The car is a gem face it. So they had problems with automatic tranny
who cares get a 5 speed and for get all the harsh words that comes with
that. The car handles like no tommorow and the resale should be up not
down. Because it basically a Mazda you know your going to get over
200,000 out of it. I'm a single mother of 4 children with two little
one yet. But as often as they are with me I still have the need for
speed. Being a backyard mechanic has paid off over the years. And there
isn't anything I don't dare to tare apart. Unfortunatly I haven't had
the honor. Only having the car for 3 months I have had 0 problems with
the performance only to wonder why the oil pressure might be slightly
low, but that could go another 75,000 miles it might burn a little
oil but its under warentee for a year, so I won't even let that bother me.
yes it could use a little more horse but what do you exspect for a car
that has 90,000 miles on it? motor was suppose to have 86,000 on it when it
was installed. yea there might be a slight rattle at high speeds
who cares as long as it isn't anything serious with the performance of
the vehicle. Thats what matters. I like the stiff suspension it makes
it feel tight and I like it when I can go 90 around the s curve in
Grand Rapids and not feel like the wheel is slipping away.
Ok the CD player wasn't all up to par but there again it's a cosmetics
thing. The ABS works great! found that out in a intersection when someone
ran a red light. I like driving in a out of traffic. If all the slow
drivers would stay in the right lane I wouldn't have to drive so
radical, but to keep an even pace going you gotta stay a head of the
game. But only with the performance of a Probe GT 24 valve can you get
optimum performance for the price. If you like to drive fast and feel
the tires hug the road then this car is for you. But remember only
the 5 speed transmission will you get the best for your money.
you people talking about the axels where are you getting your parts
from? put quality parts on and be done with it istead of trying to
cheap out. The number #1 rated year was the 93GT. It really is to bad
they stopped making them only because of a competition problem.
Its the best ride ever! if you don't have one get one before there all
gone!

Nice power, all good qualities. Beautiful body style.

Weakness:

Ive found none. Just keep up with the routine maintenance.

Bought the car and never had any heart breaking problems with it. Had a sensor replaced in 2000 and never had any problems with it again. The model that I purchased has a nice V6 motor, powered seats and etc, fog lights, GT ground effects kit and lots more. Good car. Ive added 17 inch rims, a new Sony CD player, chromed fog lights and it looks great.
