Strength:

Power Of the 3.8L engine is Great, no competition for the 3.0L types , i leave those behind, [Free Car] Great Handling and Parking..

Weakness:

No cup holders, Power Steering problems[What would you expect from ford] , Lots of Other Problems , Oil Leaks Here and there, Antifreeze Leakege, Tranny Slips , Suspension Problems + More well what would you expect, got it for free ... lack of the odometer 85 is not enough for this car when i hit the 0 almost again thats like 120Mph or somethin i can't tell ya ..

Overall The Value That I got is worth the $$ Money that i put it in but if you have to buy this kind a car please look for something better or up to date because these old wrecks are all used up and Not serviced properly but if you get it for free then its worth it .... [Ford should put more quality and performance into these Cars]

Strength:

The engine and safety ratings are about all I can say are it's major strengths. The dual sun visors are nice. This car works for corporate leases and that's it. You don't want to keep this car long term.

Weakness:

Where do I start? The transmission (valve body had to be replaced), fit and finish (the dashboard has separated from the instrument cluster and various switches are loose, the armrest has delaminated, climate controlls horribly imprecise), during heavy rain the care shuts down temporarily while driving (Yikes!), the wiper system works only when if feels like it, the turn signal stalk either shuts off too early or too late, the carpet is cheap as are the cupholders. It gets awful gas mileage (200 hp Duratec engine on the LX platform) 16 mpg or approximately 250 miles between fill-ups. But I suppose worst of all is the treatment and service provided by the Ford franchises. I have been through 4 dealerships because of their lying and customer service. This was my first and last American made product. The NHTSA has so many complaints and recall notices on this car, it's amazing it was allowed on the road at all. In addition, the resale is just plain awful.

I think I summed it up pretty well. I can't wait to be rid of this vehicle. Once you purchase the car you are just another number and no one at the dealership or headquarters could care one bit for your problems. I have noticed that most service departments essentially tell you a problem you are having is "common" to avoid repairing anything even if the warranty is in full effect so that headquarters doesn't have to pay for the junk they put on the road. Before I buy my next car I will be most interested in the dealership's service department's reputation for quality service and honesty. I have already trimmed down my list of potential automobile candidates to the Civic Coupe, VW GTI 1.8T and a Toyota Celica. I am leaning towards the VW seriously. Based on accounts of owners, though, I will be really looking for the best dealership in which to buy the GTI. I suggest everyone do quality homework on the car they are planning on purchasing, inclucing safety, reliability, recalls, etc. Then make sure the place you purchase it will be there for you if you need them.

I turned in a 1997 Nissan Maxima GLE to reduce my monthly payments and obtain more room for my growing family. I didn't really like the Maxima but there was nothing to hate about it. It was without any troubles when I turned it in. It didn't have any personality though.

I Have NEVER had a Problem w/ my 98 SHO! I bought it new. Maintain on a regular basis. I drive it HARD! This car really is a jet after 50 MPH! 98 is also alot more refined in Handling, Road Noise & Overall Looks!

I have had a few problems w/ my 90 SHO! Bought it 6 yrs. old, new clutch assembly. A/C is bad. CD player retains my CD's sometimes for a few days, but this car is 11 years old! This car really moves once your 2nd gear! Has made many an expensive sports car look bad!

Strength:

SHO loads of power. Comfortable, all the power options.

Weakness:

weak automatic transmission, which is my opinion is a real downside. I mean 220hp stock and if you beat it your looking at 1600$ for a tranny. I've been hard on it scince day 1, no problems but tranny is starting to shift differently

I love the SHO to death. I drive this car by choice. Driving down the highway you get respect from other motorists. The reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is the resale value, and the tranny problems.

Engine. Almost too fast

Anything that dosn't say Yamaha on it

Far too expensive to repair. Needs to be repaired too often. If you know how to work on these cars they're a great buy. If you own one and nothing has gone wrong, wait. If you live on any kind of a budget don't buy this car. I wish somebody told me not to.

Strength:

Sturdy, fast (compaired to my bike I normally would take), decent pick-up (for a wagon), no problems except transmission.

Weakness:

Transmission needs work, lots of work, put in 4, needs another one. Othere than that, no complaints for an 11 year old car.

Great car, status car for high school parking lots, attracts the ladies (seriously, it does) Awesome car.

Strength:

comfortable....nice smooth engine with a wide power band....nice roomy interior....good solid feel to it..stylish

Weakness:

The only flaw I could find is that one of the headlight lenses is not sealed properly...lots of moisture built up inside

I do not own a Taurus but I drove one as a rental while my truck was in for accident repair. I wasn't too excited about getting a Tauras as a rental but after driving it for a week a really fell in love with it.I have never been a big fan of Ford cars and I had negitive feelings about the Taurus before I ever drove it, but in the week I had it, it won me over. The thing I found most appealing was the comfort and spaciousness of the interior witch you wouldn't expect from a car of its size. The driver position is excellent, plenty of leg room (I'm 6'1'' and didn't need to put the seat all the way back). I don't know what it is exactly, but it just seams to present a very soothing enviroment to be in, that I did not feel with other cars I have driven. I drove my brother's '99 Malibu around for a few days and wasn't impressed at all.

The car seams to be very well built too. All the panels line up perfectly and the gaps around the hood and trunk are small and consistant. The finish of the interior and dash are well fitted and has a solid feel to it.The doors have a nice sounding, solid "thud" when shut.

Anyway, I really enjoyed my week with the Taurus and I was almost sad when I had to return it, witch is a pretty bold statement coming from a Chevy man who was looking for any excuse the hate the Taurus.
