Somewhat difficult to undersand the different types of packages avalible with this vehicle. Being a previous Taurus owner, I know what the Ford Taurus has to offer. My 89 Taurus was great. It was reliable, and it was a great car. But it was time to get a new car. I traded in my 89 Taurus for the new 2000 Taurus. And I was not surprised that the new Taurus is great. I got a Taurus SE, and the car looks great. The audio system is really something. I recommend this car to everybody whose in the market for a 4 door car. Similar Products Used: 89 Ford Taurus |

Absolutely Nothing!!!

Engine, Brakes, Drive train, Let's say the whole car sucks!! Well obviously you can tell I am not pleased with this car whatsoever! I bought it for $5800 with 60K miles on it. When we test drove it, everything was fine. Taking the car home was another story. Lot's of wind noise. Replaced head gasket at 80K miles. Needs fuel pump, radiator, water pump. Interior parts are cheap. Everthing on the interior is breaking just touching it. Seats have terrible lumbar support. IF you are looking for a good travel car, well stay away from this, your back will feel as if it were broken and a sore ass too. Well, someone convinced us to buy it and now we hate the people. Oh and the mechanics laughed when we brought our car in for the new head gasket they had 4 others same year same problem. Now they say expect the tranny to go out within the next 20k miles!! I would stay away if I were you!!! Similar Products Used: Grand Am, Chevy Malibu |

Safety and value I have a 1999 Taurus and was very impressed by its performance that I decided to buy a 2000 Taurus. My 99 Taurus had 24k miles on it, with no problems. I was involved in a car accident in my 99 Taurus last year, and it was pretty serious. My Taurus was totaled but I was not injured. The crumple zone absorbed most of the crash. Safety is a priority in my family. That's what gave me the extra confidence to buy the 2000 Taurus. My new 2000 Taurus set me back 17,541. This was for the SE. The interior of both Taurus are comfortable and roomy. The trunk space is great and the exterior is pretty nice. I recommend doing research on the price for the Taurus you are interested, because the dealer stickers are usually 2k above the Invoice. If you want a great price in a reliable sedan, than I recommend a Taurus. It has been noted as a "great buy" not only by consumers but by Motor Magazines. Similar Products Used: Toyota Camry |

Ford Taurus
Strength:
-Excellent acceleration
Weakness:
-Passenger seat back interior support uncomfortable and makes noises -Paid about 19,500 used with 20,000 miles. The 1999 SHO V6 Ford Taurus has good acceleration. Plenty of interior space. The sun roof is excellent. Good driving with the sun roof open....you don't get the sensation that you're in the middle of a wind storm. The sun roof wind block seems to route the air flow very effectively. We've only had the vehicle a few months. The only problem so far was minor....the automatic's gear shifter orange night indicator slipped out of place (i.e. you're in "drive" but the night indicator is in the "reverse" position). The dealer fixed it so not a big problem. The front seats have room for improvement. For leather seats the interior support is lacking and irritating. The passenger seat back support buckles...and makes noise when doing so. I've had lawn chairs more comfortable. Besides the seat; very satisfied with the car. Very satisfied with the engine power and factory CD sound system....overall we got good value for the price. The heating and air conditioning control is fantastic.....strong control over the temperature; ability to create a comfortable environment. Haven't owned it long enough to comment on the reliability. |

Strength:
Roomy car with good sporting looks for a car of it's nature. Well layed out with all controls easily accessible. Does incredibly well in the snow at all speeds. Tires were the trick as Cooper Weathermasters will take you anywhere.
Weakness:
Value. This car car lost more valu in the 1.5 years that I owned it than any other vehicle around. Comfort. Put this car on the road for anything over an our and you will feel like Hulk Hogan just bodyslammed you on concrete. Terrible seats with the poorest lumbar support I have ever seen. It actually curves your back in the anatomically incorrect position as my chiropractor would say. Never needed a chiropractor until after owning this car. Also, in hot weather the car would stall and would happen anywhere for no apparent reason. The Dealership said it was from a faulty fuel pump and because I had 50,000 miles on it the pump was going to run me $460 plus installation. No thanks I hated the car from the start so traded on a 1998 Chevy Metro for comfort, fuel economy and dependability. Just hit 50,000 miles and not a lick of trouble yet. What is up with that they know it's a faulty fuel pump and won't do anything about when a person spends the kind of money they do on this vehicle. Also, I can drive 5 hrs back to visit parents and get out of car and feel decent instead of like I'd been in a fight. Much better seats. $15,995 was the worst buy ever as a program car with 23,000 miles on it. 1.5 years later with 65,000 miles on most dealers offered me $6500. My metro has already paid for itslef as I could now drive it into the river and be ahead of the taurus and I have enjoyed it much more. If you need a big car for short drives and must have a front wheel drive this may be your car. But I would definitely consider an altenative to this such as Intrepid or Lumina. I'll never own another Ford after this one. Similar Products Used: 1998 Toronado Trofeo was a sweet car for almost anything except wet and snow covered roads. |

I rented this car for about a week and put about 800 miles on it. The main complaint I had about the car was the seats. I dont have back problems at all and sitting in this car for any period longer then an hour gave me serious back pain. It is the only car I have ever been in where the back seats are more comfortable then the front seats. If you enjoy back pain I highly recomend this car. |

SHO V-8
Strength:
Roominess, excellent factory stereo, lots of features, SHO trim adds a lot for the styling
Weakness:
Engine (for a V-8) lacks power, handling only average, transmission hesitates to downshift when the gas is punched, interior is a bit outdated, price Let me first say I do not own this car, but I did spend a weekend with the vehicle as I was considering it for purchase. I put over 250 miles on the car, so I feel I have a good idea of its strengths and weaknesses. Similar Products Used: Currently own 1998 Ford SVT Contour and 98 Pontiac Grand AM GT V-6. |
