Strength:

Powerful car. Love the V-8. Last of a dieing rear wheel drive line. The car had it all. Looks, power, luxary. You get a very cumfortable 2 person seater, (you can fit 2 adults in the back, but I wouldn't pull any road trips like that). I love how the dash is angled at the driver. Everything is right there at my finger tips, and easy to see while driving.

Weakness:

Well, like most people's reviews, my Transmission blew half a year and 4k miles after I got it. (Got it in 99 with 62k on it). Luckily I had opted for the extended warranty which more than payed for itself with the one repair. I think my transmission may be going again. Still have another 1/2 year on my warranty, so we'll see how it goes. It seems like it rides real stiff to me. Like there aren't any shocks on it. Had one sensor go on me, also covered by the warranty though.

Great car. Don't get it if you get a lot of snow unless you know what your doing.

Only other car I've owned is a 90 bonneville SSE. Which was a real nice car. More luxary to it, but not close to power.

Strength:

Good fuel economy, love the rear-wheel drive (fun in slick spots) torque converter locks up quickly, but makes the engine lug down. Nice interior setup.

Weakness:

the 3.8 is ok, but it doesn't have enough power. No posi-trac, so i spin on corners very easily. Automatic seat belts. No cup holders. No tachometer. Needs 6x9" speakers in the rear, factory 5x7"'s are poor! Brakes are poor.

This has been a pretty good car, and i will apreciate the fuel economy next fall when going to college. I would buy a chevy next time, but for you ford fans, go with the 4.6L. v8. much more power.

Model Reviewed: 4.6L V8

Strength:

It is a very powerful car and has a smooth ride. It is pretty quiet and the control is pretty good. It has 65,000 miles but is in good cond. It is white with front blackouts. Plan to get windows tinted, a spoiler, and ground effects for it. Engine work will come later for speed and better performance.

Weakness:

The brakes are the only problems I had with it so far. Too much brake dust is produced and the rotors are warped.

My experience with it sucked since I got in two accidents, but it was just the front and rear bumpers that I had to replace. It is a pretty fast and quiet car for the money. If anyone plans on buying one, definetly get it with the V8.

Strength:

Interior of car is comfortable.

Weakness:

At 31,000 miles transmission went out. Had to replace powersteering motor 3 times, headgasket blown at 87,000 miles. Tansmission now begining to shutter at 87,000. Replaced brakes and routers multipe times. Now also experencing suspension problems.

I love my car, but how much money do I need to sink into it before it just decides to blow up once and for all? I have to say my family and I will never buy a ford again. The headgaskets were recalled but they will not replace because the timeline was up two weeks ago.

Strength:

It has really good power and is a preety reliable car if you take care of it.

Weakness:

It blew a head gasket at 120,000 miles and it goes throuh roters preety quick but other than that it a good car.

I have had a good experiance with the car and I have a k&n filter, Five star rims, cd player, duel exuast, and black outs on the front and back and I just love this car. I'm going to put and a supercharger on it next.

Model Reviewed: Ford Thunderbird LX V6 3.8L

Strength:

The car looks beautiful. The engine has had no problems with it and runs great. It has 102,000 miles, but doesn't run like it. I love this car. As soon as I get some money this car will look like new and sporty. It handles nice in any weather. The interior is in great shape, there is no stains or rips in the cloth or leather. It gets pretty good gas mileage as well. All-in-All this car is perfect.

Weakness:

The car has a lot of weaknesses because it has 102,000 miles. The V6 3.8L is a really slow car. My car shakes a little if I'm stopped for a little while. This car has an ugly blue/grey color to it so it does not look to nice at the momment.

My experience with the car has been fun. It would run better if I had money to modify the engine. I will be getting a paint job to black so it will look nicer than what color I have on there now. I will soon be modifing it, so yes it will be faster. I don't recommend any one buying the V6 3.8L LX model, but I would certainly recommend buying the V6 3.8L supercharged, V8 5.0L or the '95-'97 V8 4.6L models.

Weakness:

the only problem i had was the valve cover gaskets ,needed replaced.

Well in my t-bird I got a cobra chip which will boost your hp from 205 to 265 , now that chip will coast from 300-600 $ Which is well worth it . this t-bird will hit 2nd gear and take you sideways quick.

IN MY THUNDERBIRD . .
SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE, BEFORE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE STEAM WAS COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD ALL AROUND. THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY A RADIATOR HOSE AND WHEN I CHECKED IT OUT IT WAS THE PLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD. WHO EVER HEARD OF A PLASTIC MANIFOLD.??? THE PEOPLE AT ALEXANDER FORD YUMA, AZ SAY THEY KEEP SEVERAL IN STOCK AT ALL TIMES JUST BECAUSE THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. I WAS UPSET WHAT IF I HAD BEEN OUT ON THE OPEN ROAD? I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY BURNED UP THE CAR. RUINED IT.. TOTALLY... I AM VERY DISAPOINTED IN THE 1997 THUNDERBIRD.. WOULDNT BUY ONE AGAIN.. THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FIXED!!!!!! AND NOT PLASTIC.!!!!!! .
