Strength:

The Shape of the car is unbeatable, people still see it as a luxury car eventhough it has been 9 years old. Awesome Power, long lasting engine and great interior.

Weakness:

door handle easily break. I used to have 90 Accord ex and I broke the door handle at passenger side and now I broke it again with my 91 Accord ex. Temperature knob easily loose.

I recently bought my Accord for $4000, 150K, After I bought the car, at the next day I put it in honda dealer shop, to make big parts replacement. But it make me suprised the amount money I paid, it less than I thought.
Now my Accord it just like another brand new cars. New tires, timing belt, engine balance belt, water pump, clutch, exhaust pipe and brake. It just unbelieveable.

Strength:

- Rear seating space
- Dashboard layout
- Engine performance
- Trunk space
- Glove compartment space

Weakness:

- Thin paint that is easily penetrated
- Road noise and wind noise
- Difficult to find driving position for tall driver
- Slow transmission shift from 1st to 2nd gear
- Poor audio sound for car in this price range
- "Fuel boilover" problem. Prevents car from starting when weather warms up in states that use a winter gasoline mix. This problem is known to Honda.
- Remote key doesn't work at least half the time.
- Dealer support poor.
- Honda customer service does not respond to known problems in cars that they are selling.

Paid 22,500. Would not recommend 2000 EXVL. Probably better values at low-end of Accord line.

Strength:

Reliable, It's got 167k miles and still starts and runs like
it just drove off the lot. Superior handling, torquey engine. good looking. absolutely no rattles or squeaks inside after 10 years.

Weakness:

"runs out of breath" at high RPM's. A little too common, everybody drives one, although that shows it's popularity

I recommend an accord to everybody interested in a midsize.
Honda dealerships have superb service, if you should ever need it. I paid $4,000 for it w/ 149k.

Strength:

Depenable for the long haul...Great if you them new. Gas milage.

Weakness:

cost on parts is very expensive...major repairs when something does go wrong. Bad Transmission. From reading the other reviews it appears most think this car has something wrong with the transmission. This particular model is not good to drive in the snow..although it has front wheel drive. With wide tires, a sports suspension h no room in the tire well and the car's front in extra low to the ground snow more than 1 foot seem to make it hard to get around in the snow.

I bought my honda used with about 87k miles on it...I have a relative that works for honda so I only paid about $6,800. It had $8,999 on the sticker. I believe I got my money out of the car...however, after loving this car thur all the miles & after 6 years of driving it...I can no longer jusify the costly repairs. I wish I could continue to drive this car because it has been a good car up until now. I get my parts for this car at cost because of my relative however, I am still finding them costly because the car now need major repairs -- nothing minor has ever gone out on this car. I guess my advise on this car is get rid of it before it hits about 150k or before things start going out on it...if you don't you may experience the following...1)major repair transmission went out in 4th gear had it rebuilt $1000 -& that was done by the cheapest guy in town. 2)powersteering went out $300..at cost not retail. 3)leaking antifreeze --this is just hose work $$ 4)major engine problem in the one of cylinders. Just to let you know, this car didn't get it's problems from being abused..it was well maintained. Thank goodness for the good resale value because I am just bearly going to excape with getting what I have paid in parts over the last year or so. I believe that hondas are good cars but you will pay alot for the big H on the front end. If you can afford a new one (about $30k) buy one.

Reliable. Somehat sporty. Decent power. Great gas mileage.

Weakness:

None to speak of. This is a very practical car.

The honda accord is known to be a very practical and somewhat sporty car which is exactly what I've found. My mom bought it for about $15k new way back when. Since then it has put on well over 100k miles and no signs of slowing down. She loves it and sees know reason to give it up anytime soon.

Model Reviewed: EX V6

Strength:

Value, V6 power, loaded with standard features (leather, sunroof, homelink), size, comfort

Weakness:

They're everywhere, transmission hesitation downshifting, slow steering at low speed, some interior materials aren't as nice as others (e.g. fake wood, door lock switches, leatherette door inserts), you'll never confuse it with a sports sedan.

I paid a little under MSRP back in July 1998 and left the dealership with buyer's remorse because I couldn't negotiate a better deal. Over the last year and a half, I've come to realize what a tremendous value the Accord is even at MSRP. I recently drove my folks' loaded 1999 Lexus LS 400 and was very disappointed in what most agree is the benchmark luxury sedan. I didn't have the heart to tell my parents that the Accord is 90 percent as good as the Lexus at half the price. Yes, the Lexus has nicer leather, a smoother ride, and more gadgets, but these differences are surprisingly slight aren't great enough to justify a $25k premium in my opinion.

Like all Hondas, the Accord's interior and exterior are beautifully thought out. Controls are where they belong and intuitive to operate. Coming from a '95 Civic EX Sedan, the Accord is roomy, powerful, and comfortable on long trips.

My only real complaints are the vague handling characteristics and slow response from the transmission -- this car is no sports sedan by any stretch of the imagination.

That said, I firmly believe that there are no cars in the Accord's segment which offer a better combination of size, features, power, and value.

Strength:

Even though its a DX model it has excellent pickup. I am a big guy so the roominess is great. I had the A/C istalled when I bought the car and it still works like new. I think that it looks great and the fact that after almost five years it has yet to give me any problems (minor or major)says a lot about this car. Plus the the service at the dealerships are excellent.

Weakness:

none

Because of the A/C and a few other options I ended up paying about 17500 and it was well worth it. I would highly recommened this car. My wife has a Chevy Cavalier and next year when she is done paying it we plan on getting her into a new Accord. If and when I ever decide to get rid of mine, my next car will be another Accord.

Strength:

I have the Accord EX ....Lots of power....very fast with the vtec engine...ALWAYS outbeat other cars like Mustangs, and cars that are suppose to be so called FAST! And I am a chic.... Sleek, love the sunroof, car runs super quiet, never have had a problem yet. Only has 20,000 original miles and has only had to have breaks adjusted once and that was it, the Honda dealers are really nice, I love my black car w/ tinted windows...it is very sporty.

Weakness:

None

Paid $6,000 for a 20,000 original miles, black, sunroof, tinted windows, under lights, cd player, subwoofer, gold rims, it was mint condition, all leather and power.....NICE!
I PAID ONLY $6,000 BECAUSE MY UNCLE IS A MECHANIC AND BEST FRIENDS WITH THE DEALERSHIP OWNER...ALL MY WORK IS DONE FREE....IT WOULD BE VALUED AT $14,000...SO I GOT A REALLLLLLYYYYY GOOD DEAL....BUT STILL WOULD PAY FULL PRICE FOR EXCELLENT CAR....THE BEST!

Car is best suited for people who want to be seen with style....who love to drive fast and who have a passion for not needing to go to the shop every week.....Everyone that I know that has a honda...which is 7 people have never had any big problems....thats why older Hondas are still expensive they are known for their quailty...and their great performance. These cars are known NOT to break easily...and me being 21 and in school...thats a nice way to save some money.

Model Reviewed: Accord EX V6

Strength:

The industry standard. Intelligent engineering. Higher quality than any domestic car.

Weakness:

Michelin tires are loud on certain types of pavement.

I never thought I would own an Accord. I spent a lot of time researching similar cars on the market and found that nearly all comparisons were against the Accord. After reading through all the literature and many test drives, the Accord clearly outperformed all of its so-called competition. The V6 is quiet, smooth, and has plenty of power. The interior is surprisingly roomy (I'm 6-3 and have no trouble with this car, even on long trips). The materials have a quality feel. Steering wheel controls for the radio and cd player are great accessories and the homelink is another useful option. The brakes are excellent but not quite equal to a BMW.
The exterior is very conservative. In fact, it's a little on the boring side. But I know that it will age much better than the current stock of American autos.
For me, the most important aspect of any car is reliability. My wife has a 95 Civic EX and we have never had any problems with it. I expect the same results with the Accord. The bottom line is simple; when my wife is alone on a highway with our little children, I want her driving a Honda.
