Strength:

Great new style esp. it's profile view. Ulta smooth V6 engine taken from Acura CL 3.0. Fair Price. I expect it to be Honda reliable.

Weakness:

No manual shift for the V6. It has a very sluggish automatic shifter. Does not use it's 200 HP well. Interior : looks great but tactily not satisfying. Too many hard plastic vinyl panels instead of softer material used. Esp. the back seating areas, aide for the seating surfaces, almost all other surfaces are made of hard plastic vinyl. A bit too cheap for Honda's Flagship car (I wouldn't mind spending a bit more money for imporved materials.) Interior fit - disappointing, too many squeaks already (7 areas in my car) and made esp. more noticeable by the very quiet, smooth ride of this car. The OEM tires are too skinny (this is after all a sports coupe.) Lastly the stereo while sounds great, is a little weak on the bass spectrum (note, I'm not a rock nor rap music listener.) Am I expecting too much of this new generation of Flagship?

I love the looks of this car before and, esp. after I added a factory wing, and the ground effects trimmings. I also lowered it (just a little ~ 1.5 inches.) I love the quite, smooth reving engine, unfortunately the automatic shifter's shift points and response is too slow and sluggish. Makes the car feel sluggish when passing other cars at mid speed(doesn't feel like a 200 HP car!)

Conclusion: despite of all the minor annoying short comings of this car. I generally liked this car. It's very quiet and comfortable for daily drives and it's been very reliable thus far. I hope Honda would improve on some of the minor quality issuses I mentioned. I am however, a bit surprised by all these little quality issues since Honda was hoping to recapture the top selling car title in the U.S. with this new generation of Accords.

Strength:

Honda reliability, outstanding resale value, low emission 4-cylinder engine (that has great pickup even with an automatic), tight linear steering

Weakness:

A little bouncy on cement highways, horrible/flat front seats with very little support

I have owned the car for less than a month and already have 2,800 miles on it. I know I will be able to trust this car even though I will rack up the miles. If they fixed the front seats and made the ride less jiggly on cement highways I would see no reason to purchase a more expensive car.

Strength:

No problems, like this car very much.

Weakness:

At 20,000 miles started noticing either tire or transmission noise. Took car to dealer and he said they had encountered this problem with Bridgestone tires on the LX. I did increase tire pressure to 45 psi and it did sound different.

Hard to believe tire noise could sound like that. Proper tire pressure, rotation and alignment have been maintained.

Clutch

My Accord is a 1997 model - body shape previous to the current shape. So it has done 43,000 km and it is on clutch no 6. Neither I nor Honda NZ can figure out why the clutch has so may problems. But as Honda say the clutches always show excessive wear they will not replace them under warranty. Consequently even though this is the first new car I have ever owned, it has also turned out to be the most expensive to maintain.

This is the first car I have ever owned where I have had problems with the clutch. I have also heard of other Accords with clutch problems though not as serious as mine.

Apart from the clutch the rest of the car is good. I personally think the styling is better than the latest shape which I find rather bland. The VtiS model in New Zealand is the top of the range with leather and climate A/C. This turns a rather ordinary car into something more special.

Unfortunately though, due to the clutch problems this Honda will be my first and last.

Strength:

Acceleration, Handling, Comfortable interior space, Reliability, Looks, Trunk space, Radio & Speakers, Great breaks, Dampens outside road, Quiet motor, and many other...

Weakness:

No manual transmission...

I have been pleasantly impressed with this Honda. It is the V6 (200 Horse) EX (Leather interiors). I have found no faults in this automobile yet. My only regret is that they do not offer a manual transmission. Acceleration (0-60) borders 7 sec. (Imagine what manual trans. would be...). Comes with 6 speakers and a CD player. I saved thousands when I bought this car instead of a similar european competitor, and believe me, I truly believe this Accord is better than most of them.

Very quiet, sharp looks, reliable, great mileage (150 hp 4cyl), great leather seats, ABS, and air bags all around!

V-6 is pricey, had to settle for a 4 cyl.....but happy!

I LOVE this car!! I got the Silver with black leather, added a wing, and fog lights. This car turns heads where ever I go. This is my second Honda, and it wont be my last!

Honda cars have built themselves a reputation for being reliable, economical, a great car overall. That is the reason that I have always stuck with the honda cars. This Honda seems made for the urban driving, handles great.

Strength:

Reliable, fast for a sedan, safe, looks sharp

Weakness:

no manual on EX V6, and a bit fuel thirsty (though that probably has to do more with my aggressive driving patterns)

Well, the Contour SVT was a blast, but ultimately needed a larger rear seat for the family. All cars in the midsize sedan class considered, I chose the Accord for practical reasons like a solid safety record and superb history of reliability. The power and performance was nearly on par with the SVT Contour, despite its larger frame (though I don't realize how torquey the car can get until I really mash on the throttle), and the handling was probably the decisive reason why I chose it over the Taurus in the end (the Taurus drove like a bathtub on wheels, though the 2000 model year Taurus does look neat). Ultimately, I think I've bought a winner . . . I've put on nearly 7,500 miles already, and I'm looking forward to many more.

Strength:

Good Gas mileage, Enough Leg room, Reliability, easy to service, decent acceleration

Weakness:

Roomier interior, expensive parts, small trunk, seats too low to ground

I've only had this car for about 6 months, and use it for long trips( I mostly drive my work truck). Bought the car with 106,000 miles on it . Since then I've replaced the timing belt, a wheel bearing, CV joint, and an oxygen sensor($97 ouch). Most of these things are normal wear and tear. I have made a trip to Colorado from here in Central TX in this vehicle. Long trip comfort was adequate. Rear seat leg room is lacking for tall people. This car has a lot glass so I'd recommend window tint for people in warmer climates. This car handles well and accelerates decently with the 5 speed transmission. It has a good factory stereo and goood air conditioner. Before purchasing this car I test drove alot of other vehicles but decided that the accord was the best combination of reliability, economy, performance, and comfort. I think I made the right choice.
