Strength:

Still running nicely after 140,000 miles. Fantastic gas mileage.

This is the classic value car. I wouldn't want to take a lot of family trips in it (due to the size), but for getting to work every day and driving long distances (alone or with one other person), it is smooth, comfortable, and inexpensive to maintain.

Strength:

Reliability, visibility, excellent gas mileage. In addition, many performance parts are available for Accords.

Weakness:

Sits to low to ground, single overhead cam and could be more quiet. Car could be insulated better against road noise. Sheet metal is quite flimsy.

This model produced by Honda is one of the most reliable cars made. The 5th Generation Accord in build quality is far superior to the 6th Generation model. Fit and finish and outstanding. Stock tires provided as a new car by Honda are not that great. I recommend Michelin X-Ones on this model. Honda of America should produce aftermarket parts for the Honda Accord such as stainless exhausts, springs and performance brakes as TRD does for Toyota.

Strength:

Fantastic value, superior handeling, great gas milage
Standard equipment leaves very little to be desired, reliability
destroys camerys routinely (including v-6)

Weakness:

none

if you decide to add a cd changer you can buy an alpine unit from circuit city, it fits in the armrest console and is controllable from the stock head unit. I drove at least 25 camerys, a few nissans(very few) chevy monte carlos, ford taurus and the accord. I drove the accord for about 10 minutes and bought it. Why anyone would need more engine than the v-tech 4 cyl. is beyond me. this car handles like no other i tried, gets great gas milage, interior room vast improvement over my wifes 97 model. and camery cannot compete. I intended to buy a camery (we already had an accord) and could not find any to my liking. If I had to buy another car it would be accord again.

Strength:

Surprising pickup for a 4 cylinder.
Sporty looks with spoiler and alloy wheels.
Comfortable Interior.
Quiet at interstate speeds.

Weakness:

Wheels too pricey...$900 extra at the dealer, either pick up after markets or buy the factory wheels elsewhere.
I don't like getting shocked every time I get out of the car.

I recommend the Accord Sedan for those looking to keep a car for a long while (5-10 years). You get what you pay for and that's probably why Honda's are priced higher than Toyotas or Nissans. Like I said, the spoiler is a nice touch and so are the wheels, just don't by factory wheels from the dealer (shame on me...I could've saved hundreds of dollars)

Toyota Camry vs. Accord Sedan - neck and neck...I chose the Honda because of quality and past experience, but the Camry is just as good.

This car is good i got a silver,I traded it for a 1996 Mitubishi Eclipse GS which i was putting money into started developing problems at 85,000 Miles.Hey Mits look at Honda and learn to build good cars.I really like to car handles and smooth ride and the 6 CD Changer in Dash is the best and the security system. The Price I got was inclusive of the Spoiler and the Wheel Locks and the Mudgard on the Road with Tax Title Registration etc.
Every thing is standard do not have to go adding options.

Weakness:

May be larger tires and heated seats might be good option.

Good buid and quality.Good for people who are 6.1 ft tall Eclipse was a good car but was too tight for big guys. Lack of leg space in the front.Nice interior.Traction Control and the Chip technology in the KEY's Better security feature.Nice Climatic Control.

Over all I would recomend this car

Strength:

Reliability, handling, gas mileage, low cost of ownership

Weakness:

Power, stereo

Bought in '94 this accord has dealer-installed leather and all stock parts. Manual transmission. I cannot complain about this product - it has been a reliable automobile. I have had some quirky instrument problems, however. The odo has been replaced twice, the headlight switch had to be replaced and the fuel gage acts-up on occasion. The temp control needed repair also. All these problems may have been due to a poor dash construction on the line. The service department has always been outstanding, never having had to leave the vehicle overnight. I have noticed better performance on premium gas. I am considering replacing it (or keeping it for commuting) and going to a true performance sedan, such as BMW 328/330. I can strongly recommend this, or any Honda product for reliable, pleasurable transportation and good value.

Model Reviewed: Honda Accord Special Edition

Strength:

The exterior styling looks refreshened from the previous models. The new headlight design is awesome!
The interior design is elegant with a light two tone color scheme. Interior room is big enough for 5 adults. Great rear headroom I might add. More legroom than my mid-sized Mercedes-Benz 300. I love the dashboard layout which is easy to read and operate. Excellent visibility from front windshield. The wood trim adds a bit of a luxury feel. Front seats offers good support.
Cab-Forward design looks great outside and makes you think the interior is larger than it really is.
The ULEV-VTEC with 148-HP @ 5,700-RPM offers adequate power.
The Grade-Logic automatic transmission auto shifts intelligently uphill and downhill.
ABS are a must and they brake very quickly.
Honda reliability and very high resale value.
Exclusive alloy rims are very shiny.
Trunk space is huge.
Electronic remote is great during wet weather and when shopping.
Somewhat fuel efficient. I get about 20-MPG on the highway and this car only requires regular gasoline (Octane rating of 86 or higher).

Weakness:

Could use more low-end torque.
A chrome grille would be better.
Wider tires would be better.
Interior noise from engine was louder than expected.
Paint is not very glossy and chips/scratches easily.
Engine whines when pushed 3,000-RPM and above.
Rear seat slants back too much making headrests useless.
Seats are a little too firm.
Stock audio system sucks.
Rear tailights are ugly.
Headlights should be brighter. Xenon would be better like on Acuras.
$20,500 is enough to purchase a V6 engine from other automakers.

Could use wood on the dashboard.

Buy it if you have a family. If not, buy the Honda Accord Coupe. Much better than a Toyota Camry.

Similar Products Used:

1992 Toyota Corolla DX sedan. This car sucked. Feminine styling, not enough engine peformance, engine noise was somewhat high, ugly interior design especially the dashboard, not enough interior room (very cramped), and headlights were like lit candles. However, it was a very reliable car.

Reliable Honda Accord runs great even with 290,000 miles. Only tune-up every 100,000 miles which is twice. Will be going on my 3rd tune-up. Mechanic said Honda don't need to follow the Honda manufacturer recommended 35,000 tune-up period. You can extend it to 100k and save money.

Weakness:

None

Strong and reliable car. Even at 290,000 miles, it's still running strong and everything works great. Will easily go for another 5 years up to 500,000 miles on original engine. Honda owner really need to tuneup every 100,000 miles, not the printed 36,000 miles. Plan to get another Honda Accord in 5 years.

Strength:

Reliable, smooth, longer maintenance period, enough power for general use, handling, most comfortable seat.

Weakness:

None that I've seen or felt.

I used to prefer Toyota since their cars were more reliable but the 1999 top of the line Accord impressed me greatly. It is simply the perfect sedan for any application. You can pay more and have more of anything but the Accord is the cheapest durable all purpose vehicle in the market. Other pros: 1) best seat for my much abused backbone (5 times rear ended in a year). 2) stereo control on steering wheel. 3) takes regular unleaded. I'm giving it 5 stars for my satisfaction level. That is rare for me.
