Strength:

V6 Coupe Nothing ! I want tell people about this poor product. This is not a car! I don't know what it is but cars drive and Grand AM GT's drive fast.

Weakness:

This is for Honda Prelude SH ! Fist, I was talking about V6 Accords .
Second, You must be second guessing your sweet Prelude. Third, I respect
a Civic SI over both !

Where do I start ? I bought an Accord V6 Coupe because I thought it was a sleeper ! I heard it looked ok but drove like a champ. I was wrong !
The problem with it was the Torqe and Trans . Because of the torque I had
to wait while Neons,Civics,Altimas and Grand AM GT's passed me at the light. When it finally got to 60 the trans betrayed the engine every shift.
It was like a cat fight was going on under the hood. When it came time to
brake down I quoted scripts from the book of pslams ! The Trans does not
downshift because like a slow PC it had delayed reactions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that I have My GT I drive for fun! My Grand AM knows what I'm going to
do every shift. It drives like a dream . This is a smart powertrain !
My GT is a true sleeper because people in there Honda Accords and Prelude's
seem to think they can beat a GA GT . I can't talk for other Grand AM's
but I'm a driver and now I have a car ! So anyone in a Honda Prelude better
be shifting like the wind or else!!!!!! As for an Accord V6, Please....
Most foriegn cars need a stick to beat american cars ! I'm sure that's why
the guy with the Honda Prelude SH passed up the Accord . 2001 Grand Am GT Peace. P.S. Have you seen that new GA GT commercial on t.v. ?

Model Reviewed: Honda Accord EX V6 Sedan

Strength:

Peppy engine, spacious interior, big trunk, stable and manageable in high speed (over 120 mph), supple ride, good handling for a family sedan, low price, expensive feel.

Weakness:

plasticky leather, thin sheet metal, thin coats of paint, so-so brake, part of the dashboard is plastic-hard, some rattles and creaks.

The Accord wins for value test. The car comes fully loaded with leather seats, moonroof, CD player, etc from the factory. In fact, I didn't buy any optional equipments from the dealer and it makes the buying process very simple. It, however, is not a perfect car as it is. The workmanship is somewhat in lower quality compared to my 95 Accord LX and 98 Civic. There are more hard plastics on the dashboard and door panels, the fitment is somewhat imperfect as well. What the car shines over the old ones are the handling, engine and transmission quality. Transmission shift is still not as smooth as Toyota's, but is still a huge improvement over the old car. Engine is powerful and only requires 87 octane. Handling is typical Honda where the suspension movement is taut and controlled. The ride is also on the firm side. Big room inside with nice seats, front and back, but the driver's seat can have more lateral support. The car is reasonably quiet for cruising on the interstates at the speed excess of 80 mph.

Similar Products Used:

I tested 6 imports before buying the car: the Accord sedan and coupe, Camry and Solara, Maxima, and Galant. The Accord sedan wins hands down for value. The Maxima I was looking for was the SE w/ leather seats and it was too expensive. I'd choose Acura TL instead of the Maxima as they are so closely priced. Camry's suspension is too soft for my taste. Solara is not bad, but the style turns me off. Galant, hmmm, it still feels cheap inside.

Strength:

Beautifully designed
200 horsies
Exuberant with luxurious feels (for such a moderately priced automobil)
Roomy - 2 kids (and another one due in 2 months time)- and I still am in a sports car mood.

Weakness:

Lacking power off the line - had to play with lower gears for fun drive.
Not so hot CD/stereo system - no pre-amp out (steering wheel audio control was a nice touch though)
Leathers deteriorate too soon.

Other than that, I am a super duper happy camper.

Beautifully designed. I work in the artistic industry; design and presentation is everything (almost everything that is). For three years I could not help but admire this sexy V6 coupe from inside my brand new Eclipse, wishing that I had made the deal for the EX three years ago. And I finally dumped the mitsu for one of these babes. And after a month of sheer joy, I still feel like I dont own this vehicle. Every time I walk up to it, I would still feel like it is somebody else's nice car, and how I wish I can have it. And the best part is, YESSS, it is all mine!!!!(well the bank may think otherwise, but what the hell...an EX-V6 coupe is always an EX-V6 coupe...)

So, you sporty family men like me, who finds a true sports/sporty cars just too impractical for everyday life, there is no other choice for you. This is the chosen one, and a damn good one at it too.

Similar Products Used:

Mitsu Eclipse RS- Agile and pocket-rocket sporty look. Lack overall power even though very responsive (which the EX lacking). But, the Eclipse's interior was just too tight. especially when I had to cramp my two little kids for long hauls. The EX gives me that critical extra space on top its extra power (minus the agility of course).

Prelude 1990 - the best looking Prelude byfar. Smooth engine, silky shifting, but high maintenance and rear seat not worth mentioning (like the eclipse).

Strength:

This car is very reliable. No real problems with the car

Weakness:

I cannot think of any

I wanted to have a car to get out of town and use it for occasional short trips. I found a 88' Accord with 170K....I bought it for $1400...It seemed reliable, plus I wanted a car that I wouldn't care too much about in the city streets (my car did get broken into twice...basters stole my radio that I put in) I have put 15k miles in 10 months. I have taken this car on long trips in all type of weather conditions and no problems...I occasionally beat on it but it wants more. It starts up with no problems and takes you to where ever you want to go. I love this car, but I have recently lost 5th gear and the moonroof leaks in heavy rain. I still drive this car on the highway....it revs 3500rpm at 70mph...not bad on 4th gear. If I needed a car for local driving only, I would keep it but I need something that's better suited for the highway so I am getting rid of it. The engine is still strong. I definitely got my monies worth on this vehicle. If you are looking for a car that you can count on but not really worry about exterior damage in a city. Look for a honda with high miles and low price. It's nice to have a car that you do not care about. I am looking into getting another accord...but lower miles this time.

Strength:

Superior quality for the $$$. Great list of useable standard features. Fantastic ride quality. Peppy 4 cyl. engine coupled with the manual 5 speed makes for fun driving. Exterior body/panel fit and interior components are flawless in quality. Honda knows how!

Weakness:

Floor mats should be standard equipment. Aluminum wheels should also be standard. Minor issues, but the only weaknesses I could muster up.

Each time I climb into my new Accord I continue to be more impressed by it's overall quality. I have owned literally dozens of brand new vehicles over my 35 years of driving experience (including a couple Mercedes and Lincolns) and can truly state that this Accord is the finest vehicle I have ever had next to my CRV. I have both driven and riden in vehicles costing over twice the price of the Accord and am convinced that the ride quality of the Accord meets or exceeds the more expensive vehicles. I couldn't be more happy with the choice I made. I am confident that both of my new Hondas will provide excellent service until I decide I want new ones. I am a newly converted Honda fan and will definately consider the Honda as a first choice for future vehicle purchases. If you are considering a new or used vehicle in a reasonable price range, you must test drive the Honda Accord. A GREAT vehicle at any cost.

Similar Products Used:

I also own a 2000 Honda CRV which I purchased approximately one year ago. This is also a fantastic vehicle and the reason I considered buying another Honda. I narrowed down my car purchase to a Nissan Altima, VW Jetta, and the Accord. I test drove all and did a detailed spreadsheet comparison. I was very objective and open minded, but the Accord won hands down in all important factors.

3.0 V6 VTECH ENGINE IT'S GOT SO MUCH POWER
I DONT KNOW ABOUT THE OTHER ACCORDS, BUT I GOT THE ONE WITH THE SPOILER AND THE UNDER BODY KIT AND DAMN, I'VE BEEN GETTING COMPLIMENTS LIKE EVERY DAY ON THE LOOKS. AS FOR THE INSIDE, IT IS PERFECT FOR ME AND THE FRONT PASSENGER, THE SEATS ARE BIG AND THE DRIVER'S WILL ADJUST TO ALMOST ANY POSITION. THE LEATHER AND INTERIOR IS REALLY NICE, SOMETIMES I THINK I AM DRIVING MY DADS MERCEDES. ITS PERFECT FOR A 16-24 YEAR OLD PIMP!

Weakness:

TIRES SUCK AND ARE 170 DOLLARS EACH
ACTUALLY THEY DONT EVEN HAVE THEM IN STOCK MOST OF THE TIME
IVE HAD TO HAVE THEM ALL CHANGED ALREADY,(THIS IS DUE TO SLIGHTLY ABUSIVE DRIVING)
YA IT COULD USE LOW END TORQUE BUT IT MAKES UP FOR IT AFTER 4000RPMS
NO STICK SHIFT, BUT I HAVE LEARNED TO LUV THIS AUTO-MATIC

BASED ON LOOKS, THE ACCORD V6 EX IS A DOPE CAR ESPECIALLY IF YOU GET THE UNDER BODY KIT AND SPOILER. THE INTERIOR JUST GOES PERFECT WITH THE CAR AND MAKES IT LOOK VERY COOL FROM INSIDE AND OUT. BASED ON PERFORMANCE, IT'S HANDLING IS AWESOME, I HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE WHEN FLYING THROUGH TURNS AND CUTTING OFF POOR SAPS IN INTEGRAS AND OTHER SIMILAR WANNABES!!!
HONESTLY, ANYONE CAN BUY THIS CAR AND MAKE IT TO THEIR LIKING BUT I THINK IT IS BEST FOR US STREET RACERS, THE 2 DOOR V6 THAT IS.
I PLAN TO GET A NEW UNDER-BODY KIT TO MAKE MY RIDE LOOK A LITTLE SPORTIER THAN IT ALREADY LOOKS.

Similar Products Used:

CELICA GT-S? I LOOKED AT THOSE BUT WOULDN'T EVEN TEST DRIVE IT. I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD FIT AND I AM 5'10" AND SKINNY. ACCORD HAS SO MUCH ROOM TO JUST KICK BACK.
ECLIPSE- I THINK THE BRAND NEW ECLIPSE IS A LITTLE FASTER BUT IT IS UGLY AND NOTHING LIKE THE ACCORD OTHERWISE. I GUESS THAT WOULD DEPEND ON YOUR TASTE.

Strength:

I like the excellent sound quality, It came with radio, cassette, and cd changer.
It also performs very smoothly no problems so far.
I also love how it looks, much nicer then the Toyota Camrys, and Accords in Japan.
Lots of power with a V6 engine, only 3400 miles on it.
Strong AC with the Automatic climate controler, and I love the Satin Metallic Silver Color.
It also has cool accesories like the spoiler (it matches very well, not like on camrys), and their in deck cd changer.

Weakness:

The only weakness the Honda Accord has is the paint scratches easily. The reason I got the car is because my friend has an 2001 Accord EX V6. His car was grand.

I just love my Honda Accord 2001 Ex V6. I got it for $21000.00 and that was a steal. They just got it in the day before we bought it. It was made and sent from Japan to Hawaii. In it I got the spoiler, cd changer, mats, dash covers for the front and back, 10 year warranty, rust proof spray, water proof spray on the seats, AC, power everything, and the security alarm. I think if your a High school or college student you should get this car, Its fantastic.

Before all the problems, the power was good.

Weakness:

BAD TRANSMISSION! frame is too chessy and weak compared to the American competion such as my faithful Malibu. Check engine like did come on a couple of times now the problems gone, plus also lately my fog lights are shorting out on me.

Well is a great car, but to highly rated. When I first bought this car is was great, but after I would say 25k miles the Transmission started to slip after first gear. I took it back to the dealer since it was under service contract, and it was tokin care of. Now that the service contract is over and i have 37K miles it doing the same thing!! I do alot of road traving up in the hill of west Texas, and last month i decided to take the Accord verse my 1997 Malibu. Well after a while going up a hill the transmission sliped and the RPM cage was at 6Krph! My Malibu eats those hills like nothing! Iam very made at Honda and the Japanisse people for selling me a Honda that sucks.

Strength:

The car is very reliable, gets excellent gas milage, and performs well (5Sp standard). On the highway it has a solid feel, with very little road or engine noise. Price was very good compared to similar cars. The Honda dealer (I am a repeat customer) is a couple cuts above others I have dealt with over the years.

Weakness:

On rough roads I get some squeaks coming from around the sunroof.

This is my 4th Accord. My wife and I each commute 30+ miles a day and need long lasting, reliable transportation. No one does that better than Honda. Our other car is a 1996 Accord with 75,000 miles on it, and my daughter has our old 1991 Accord with 180,000 miles on it.....still going strong. All of these cars have 5 speed manual transmissions and the 4cyl engine (as did an earlier 1988 Accord which died prematurely with about 160,000 miles when my daughter let her boyfriend drive it in NYC...."big mistake" as the man says (crash)). They all get about 35MPG on the highway, and just keep going and going and going.
Honda's excellent 5sp manual transmission and VTEC engine combination on the 2000 result in a fine performer that's fun to drive (with a nice exhaust note I might add). Handling and braking are quite adequate, although not in the league with BMW, but then the price isn't BMW either. The 2000 is an incremental improvement over the 91 and 96 in just about every area, and is easily the best buy in its class.
We always look at other makes when in the mood to buy, but it's hard to beat Honda for value.

Very realiable, nice ride, all i do is wash it and do the oil change and it smiles back at me. Actually i will probobly give this one to my wife and buy a new one. People say new ones are underpowered but thats not what i am buying for. If i wanted to race i would back my 71 Chevelle 454 SS from my garage, but who knows with gas prices i may not even be doing that. :o)

Weakness:

air cond doesnt get extreamly cold.

Very nice family car, quiet, comfortable, realiable. Its funny if you look at Nick Trotters posting he hated his accord. Said it was a piece of crap. Then i looked at the year he purchased. HELLO!, you bought a 1987 honda accord and you expect it to not have any problems? Even if it was 8 years old realisticaly you may start having problems with any car. No wonder you had problems, did the guy that sold it to you forget to tell you it was 14 years old :o) not to mention you paid $6000 for it.
