Strength:

-Visibility is second to none
-8 year old design looks better than most new designs
-Interior layout
-27-29 mpg (360-400 miles per tank)
-Great handling
-Quiet (still no squeaks or rattles at 130,000 miles)
-Honda reliability
-large trunk

Weakness:

-Low to the ground (for a guy who's 6'-2")

I bought my black, 4 door Accord EX car in 1995 with 25,000 miles on it. I was looking at the '95 models, but thought the '93 model was better looking and it also has more leg room. I have been extremely pleased with this car. I still like the '93 Accord better than any other model made to date. I changed the timing and balancer belts at 90k miles and just recently cleaned the EGR valve and throttle body idle screw and replaced the plugs and wires. The car runs like it did when I bought it 6 years ago! The exterior of my black EX is still in good condition even though it has never been garaged (waxed regularly though). The 2 door EX wheels (same as 10th Anniversary) I had the dealer swap from another used car on his lot, make this car look sporty and a lot like the '95 Acura Legend (another classic design in my opinion). The tan cloth interior of the car still looks new even though I do not have tinted windows.

As a mechanical engineer involved in vehicle design, I would recommend this car to anyone!......not mine though!!.....I plan to continue driving this car as long as its looks remain stylish and it does not need any repairs. I drive this car 100+ miles a day to work and would not hesitate to take a cross country trip in it tomorrow!

Strength:

What can you say about Hondas? They're great little cars. Mine has been extremeley reliable, and fun to drive.

Weakness:

Parts are SO expensive!!! But the Honda people (Hidy Honda in Xenia, Oh) are helpful. "Did you say 79 accord???" If it wasn't so rusted out, I would jerk the tranny today and fix the differential bearing/oil seal, because it's been such a great car.

Honda reliability is a big plus!
Honda longetivity is a big plus!
The body is not so great :(
The price of parts is OUTRAGEOUS!!! :(
It is a hard car to work on, and i'm a decent mechanic :(
BUT- the A/C still works... big plus :)

Accessories, stick shift, body design.

Weakness:

Reliablity, power windows, body quality, power locks.

I honestly like and don't like my car. So far it seems to be a piece of crap! For the past couple of weeks the car has been at the local mechanic. In previous years we have never had this much trouble with an old Honda. We trusted Honda until recent months and have decided to avoid Honda Accords again. The problem is the car WON'T start in the morning when it is cold. It will start and when you start driving it will start choking and die. It has trouble starting after that. When my parents and I purchased the car, we had to spend money to fix the brakes (you had to pump them to start, Crappy ain't it?). I like it for being a stick shift in all because you get faster acceleration. It has nice luxary features in all but one power window doesn't work from the driver's side. We think the switch went out. I honestly don't want to spend the money to fix it because since this car is so much trouble I am probably gonna sell it for a newer and hopefully better car. There are probably 3 rattles in the front alone. I've only driven the car for one or two thousand miles and I am just mad at Honda for there quality. The Back of the body cracked and now when I go through puddles it leaks into the trunk. It really sucks! The engine gets fairly close to overheating when it is hot outdoors. I get nervous when the gage passes 3/4 of the gage itself, and thats only in high 80's to low 90's weather. I only drive it around town which means it would be a bad car for driving on the freeway all the time. We think the next thing to go in the car will be the transmission bad news for me. The car only had 110,000 miles. I like the gas mileage also. It gets 22 in the city. Thats pretty good for a carborated car. The power door locks don't all work only the passenger and driver's door work! I think its crappy! Honda has lost a long term customer! Honda must go back to good quality not bad quality! Never buy this for a teenager! I am a 16 year old unsatisfied with the praticallity of the car! Have to get it fixed often within the past month. I hate it a lot!

1989 Toyota Truck, greatest truck my parents have had. No problems so far. Only slow at starting which is understandable for I think 70,000 miles. Has lots of power compared to my accord! The only bad thing is it doesn't have A/C or power windows.

Weakness:

pricy parts, 258 dollars to change timing belt

This is an awesome car, its tight, handle great, speedy, and fun to drive, the only money that I've put into it was a timing belt. It did'nt break, but after some 171,000 miles on the original, I fugured it was time.

Similar Products Used:

1996 toyato camry, better styling and acceleration

Reliability, Gas Mileage, Quality, style, Handling, Retractable lights are really cool!!

Weakness:

Not realy that Powerful on acceleration (but I'm about to fix that)

I bought this car with 170,000 miles on it. At the time it needed CV joints and the front windshield was cracked. The paint job was only 5 years old on it. It had a new exhaust system from the cat back. It was flawless. I haven't had any trouble with it yet. I've replaced regular maintenance parts: the CV Joints, Front windshield, timing belt and other drive belts, water pump, brake pads, rotors, new tires, I put a new radiator on because I had it in my other 86 Accord so I just put the new one in the 88 Accord just to have a new radiator. I haven't had to replace the clutch yet, it still grabs and never ever slips. Splitfire spark plugs and wires. Oil changes every 3,000-3,500 miles. The suspension is still tight it doesn't lean all over when I make a turn. I did, however, have to replace the right brake caliper because the piston would not go back in when I was changing the brake pads. Other than that....nothing else other than regular maintenace stuff. The car now has 207,000 miles on it. I drive it 100 miles a day Mon-Fri because I work in Akron and it's an hour drive. The car DOESN'T rattle, shake, stutter, stall, or anything. It's the smoothest car ever I'd trust it to go to California if I had to. Now I have people at my church asking me to go with them to help them find a used Honda for their children!! My girlfriend's sister got a 89 LXI. It's absolutely the best car ever. I jus wish the new 6-cyl models came with manual transmission.

Strength:

Reliability! Any Honda Dealership we have been to has been more than helpful. Gas Mileage is exceptional. Made many trips from Kansas to Dallas.

Weakness:

Some of the interior is wearing, but again the car is almost 10 years of age. Only small things, like cover around interior door latch is broken, gear shift cover is also tearing. Not much room, as we are learning with our second child. Hard to fit more than one extra person with a carseat.

Overall, this has been a fantastic car. Great Gas Mileage. I have had minor repairs and I have 110,000 miles. I bought the car in 1995, with only 30,000 miles. Other than normal wear items, like belts at 60,000 miles, oil changes, etc,. I have only had to replace the front passenger seat belt as it was sticking. It has everything I could want in a car, quiet driving, even after 110,000 miles, CD player, moon-roof, power steering, etc. It has been an excellent car and we planning to put another 100,000 miles on it.

INTERIOR (LEATHER, CD, SUNROOF, CLIMATE CONTROL, HIGHWAY ACCEL), WOULD NOT BUY THE COUPE WITHOUT A SPIOLER (IT LOOKS GREAT WITH ONE). IT'S AN ACCORD, WHY BUY ANYTHING ELSE.

Weakness:

PAINT CHIPS EASLIY ON THE FRONT END ( TAFFETA WHITE). I CARRY A BOTTLE OF TOUCH-UP PAINT WITH ME. PICK-UP IS NOT THE GREATEST FROM A STOP LIGHT , BUT ON THE HIGHWAY IT IS GREAT. NO 5SP ON THE V6. BLIND SPOTS WHEN CHANGING LANES,. THATS IT

I LOVE TO DRIVE THIS CAR, OVERALL CONTROLS ARE EASY TO REACH, I HAD A 92 ACCORD WITH 12500 MILES AND I HAD NO PROBLEMS (CHANGED TIMING BELT AT 92000 AND NEW TIRES EVERY 420000) THE 92 WAS GREAT AND REALLIABLE . TREADED IT IN FOR A 99 FORD EXPLORER EDDIE BAUER AND I DID NOT CARE FOR THE FORD. THE ENTIEOR OF THE 99 ACCORD IS JUST FABULOUS . THERE IS EVERYTHING GRAND ON THE 99 ACCORD EXL/V6 COUPE. THE FEEL AND COMFORT. FUN TO DRIVE. VTEC PRELUDE ENGINE.
