Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The Civic is Honda’s compact car that is offered in sedan and coupe versions. First introduced as a small, inexpensive hatchback in 1972, the Civic has increased in size during its lifetime while continuing to offer excellent fuel economy. The entire Civic line was all-new for 2006.

The basic Civic is available as a sedan and coupe and comes in several trims: DX, DX-VP, LX-S, EX and EX-L. The Civic SI, the performance-oriented trim, offers 57 more horsepower than the base model, a few more performance options and a starting price of around $7,000 more than the base Civic.

The Civic also comes in two eco-friendly options: the Honda Civic Hybrid, which is reviewed separately, and the GX, a hybrid alternative that runs on Compressed Natural Gas. Unfortunately the GX is only sold in California (and other states that have accepted California's Zero-Emission Vehicle regulations). It costs about $10,000 more than a base Civic.

THIS IS A WONDERFUL CAR. ALTHOUGH THE LOOKS MAY DECIEVE YOU, THIS IS A REAL FAST AND SPORTY CAR. IT PICKS UP SPEED JUST AS OR BETTER THAN ANY OTHER CARS. STATISTICS HAS IT THAT IT IS NOT TOP OF THE LINE BUT YOU MUST OWN ONE AND DRIVE ONE TO KNOW THE TRUTH

Weakness:

REALLY SMALL

THIS CAR IS FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT SMALL SPORTY CARS. IT MAY LOOK AS IF IT IS NOTHING BUT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXCELLENT CAR. I OWN ONE AND HAD RACES AGAINST BMW, MUSTANGS, CELICAS, INTEGRAS, MR2, CAMRY, MAXIMA, PICK-UPS, TERCELS, AND OTHER VARIOUS CARS. I AM UNDEFEATED.

DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER

I LOVE this car!! It handles really well, you can feel it accelerate (which I really love- I'm a speed demon!), and it brakes on a dime. I love the look of it too, mine is silver- it just looks like fun.

Weakness:

I don't like some black detailing on the outside, and I don't like that my radio doesn't work!

I would definitely recommend this as a first car, because it is safe and you can drive it to hell and back. It gets great gas mileage, and its very responsive. I feel confident that in the car, if I were to come across a bad situation, that I could handle it well and that the car would work with me. I've driven a Jeep Cherokee and I really don't get that feeling. As for me, this is my first car and I'm a fairly new driver. I wanted something that looked fun and sporty but would run well and last years. I think that this Civic is THE car for me! It was used by one other person, who took very good care of it. Its my pride and joy, and I know that I will take better care of the car because I love it SO much!

Everywhere i drive i get looks from all around. Did i mention its fast.
V-Tech kicks in at 5500rpm and the car takes off. Great handling, especially on turns. Im 6"1 and i have plenty of head room. The trunk is huge and there is plenty of room for passengers in the back seats.

Weakness:

The stereo is terrible..i blew the components the second week i had the car. The cd player skips and scratches cd's. The car does not have ABS..and it is noticable when tryin to stop suddenly. Basically what im trying to say is that i am not to impressed with the braking system.

The car is a great value. For around 17k, you get a fast, reliable, and attractive car. It is damn fun to drive around town and take people off the line. I recommend this car to all..just make sure you change the stereo asap. Email if you have any questions or comments on this car..ill give you my 2 cents on it in a second

This thing is a little "Pocket Rocket." It gets up and really goes.
Reduced consumption of "GO" juice (35/43) is the best strength.
Sporty looking.
Roomy, even for a 6' guy like myself.

Weakness:

None

This is a great car. It gets 35/43 where as the other civic models get 23/35. I did extensive research for a car that would give you more bang for the buck. Hands down the Civic is a great car. Additionally I think that Honda did us, the consumer, a great favor providing this model as an option. The car is also a very safe vehicle inside and out.

Model Reviewed: Civic coupe VTi-R

Strength:

A slick looking car. An awesome engine. Once you hit past 5500rpm, you're in heaven. Past 5500rpm, this amazing surge of power just kicks in and all hell breaks loose. Sufficient pulling power below 5500rpm. Fuel economical.
Nice ergonomics. Nice gear knob.

Weakness:

Would've been better off having sports seats for starters. It is meant to be a sports car, and bucket seats would've been nice. Drilled aluminium pedals would be nice. A different steering wheel from the rest of the Civic range perhaps? 16-inch alloys with a lower profile tyre i.e. 205/45R16 would've been nice.

I would definitely recommend it. No car is perfect, and this one is no exception, but it has undoubtedly exceeded all my expectations. The engine is absolutely awesome. You really have to experience the sound of the engine for yourself to understand the beauty of it. The Civic VTi-R (SiR) sells over here in Australia for $31,500 and that is a reasonable price. But one thing's for sure, no other car comes close to the power of the DOHC VTEC engine of the Honda for around the same price. This is my first new car, and I absolutely love it. You will too...

Gas Mileage, Look and feel, handles well, overall great automobile

Weakness:

Little bit of rust, seats worn away at sides on passenger side, sunroof leaks and car fogs VERY easily

My Civic has over 635,000 km's on it (and counting), and I am very pleased with its current performance. Having a car with that much mileage I am very suprised on how it rides, I dont think any other car would hold up to such a challenge. Naturally from wear and tear little things like the seat tilts lettting go and door handles seizing up but that can be easily fixed. I am pleased with this car and will definetly be making a Civic my next purchase.

Strength:

GREAT car, fun to drive, I love the sunroof, keyless entry, and 5-speed. Even 2 years old, it looks and smells new.

Weakness:

There are small examples of cost-cutting...For instance, there is no power lock switch on the passenger side, and the HX coupe has alloy wheels, why not the top of the line EX?

I bought the 98 with 25k miles on it, as a Honda Certified used car. The car was stickered at 14,900, and a new (2000) LX was 14,500. But I wanted the moonroof, keyless entry, and bigger engine. Additionally, the dealer had it on the lot in the color I wanted (dark green). I got the 100,000 mile warranty, and Honda could not be better...If the car is being brought in for maintance, they offer to drive you to work in a limosine, after stopping for breakfast, all on their nickel. This for an 18-year-old college student. I love the car, and it is about perfect for what I need it for. We will always have at least one Honda (we will soon have three).

It's not a '98 VW Jetta GLX VR6.. (my dream car (: )
no factory anti theft device
no V6 available
no DOHC VTEC available
no leather seats
having to keep stock stereo in dash when using aftermarket audio

I love my civic. It's fast as hell for now. It'll be even better in spring '2001 when I plan to drop it 2" w/ aftermarket header, exhaust, and intake. Just a few things I'm planning on doing but all in all the civic is a great car stock. At first I thought the mileage sucked but then I realized how much driving it took to guzzle that much gas. 500 miles a week tends to use MUCH gas.

Strength:

Love the new body style. Receive lots of compliments on this car. It's a very driver-friendly car- very comfortable seats, driver arm-rest etc. Stock CD player and stereo with 6 speakers surprisingly good. Car responds and handles extremely well compared to cars previously owned. Large trunk space. Great sun-roof.

Weakness:

Gas mileage quite a bit lower than advertised on the sticker. Insurance premiums are higher than expected. Rear visibility very poor -Good luck parallel parking!! Has alarm on the stereo but an alarm on the car is quite a bit extra. Disappointing considering the sticker price... During sub-freezing weather the gas gauge freezes up and does not work at all. Rear defrost slower than in my previous cars. Would like a bigger, faster engine in this car.

I would highly recommend this car. Compared to my previous autos this tops them all!! It is sporty, good looking, responds well, and is an all-around great car. I plan on driving this into the ground. My few complaints are nothing compared to my previous cars. It is so much better than my Fords I can't even compare it. I would definitely recommend the 5 speed over the automatic transmission though. Much better handling.
